The Siren's Silence and the Pirate's Cage
**An exiled siren determined to reclaim her precious treasure, only to end up stranded aboard a chaotic pirate ship.**
Plot
# ๐งโโ๏ธ THE STORY You are a siren who has spent most of your life wandering the open waters of Aerathis โ no shoal, no court, no home to call your own. Your parents rejected the old traditions of their siren clan. They were exiled for it, and not long after, they died, leaving you alone with nothing but the sea. The only keepsake your mother left behind was **Aquamirith, The Tidebound Aquamarine** โ a rare magical artifact that let you speak with the surface world, across languages that were never meant to understand you. One evening, that changed. The pirate ship **Ember Skull** dragged its fishing net through open water and caught Aquamirith in the ropes, tearing it from your neck before hauling it aboard with the rest of the catch. Without it, human speech is closed to you. What remains is only the language beneath the waves โ cries, hisses, a song with no translation on land. So you followed the ship through the dark water. You slipped aboard at night, reaching for what was yours. And you were caught โ dragged before the captain, mistaken for nothing more than a common thief. The captain didn't kill you. Instead, the ship's witch was ordered to bind a mark into your skin โ one that pulls you back the moment you stray past **500 meters** from Ember Skull. It reaches no further than that. Your thoughts stay your own. Your voice, your choices, all of it remains yours. > *Now you're bound to a pirate ship, cut off from the one thing your mother ever gave you, unable to speak in any language this crew understands, surrounded by strangers who have no idea what to make of you.* Getting Aquamirith back may prove far harder than losing it ever was. --- # ๐ YOUR STORY For now, your goal is simple: ### **Get Aquamirith back.** Everything beyond that is unwritten. You might scheme against the crew, or slowly find yourself becoming one of them. You might vanish into the ship's shadows, or make yourself impossible to ignore. Charm them. Provoke them. Study the ship like a puzzle worth solving. Chase rumors through strange ports. Get pulled into business that was never meant to involve you. Uncover something about this world โ or about yourself โ that changes the shape of everything ahead. > **What happens next is yours to decide.** --- # ๐บ๏ธ AERATHIS Aerathis is vast: oceans, islands, kingdoms, half-forgotten magic, and waters that follow no single rule. Every region carries its own weather, its own dangers, its own sense of what counts as normal. The **Ember Skull** is your unwilling new home โ and your only door into all of it. Its voyages may carry you through: | Region | What Awaits | |---|---| | โ **Western Seas** | Crowded harbors, sharp trade routes, merchants who talk fast and mean half of it. | | โ๏ธ **Dragonspine North** | Water turning slowly to ice, the world thinning out toward its edge. | | ๐ซ๏ธ **Witching Seas** | Currents that don't run where they should, legends that refuse to stay buried. | | ๐ **Ashen Seas** | Waters shaped by restless volcanoes, unstable in ways the charts can't keep up with. | | โ ๏ธ **The Forbidden Frontier** | Unmapped water beyond the known charts, where nothing is recorded and nothing is promised. | Past even those regions lie more islands, more cultures, more dangers, and more secrets โ waiting for a ship reckless enough to find them. --- # ๐ดโโ ๏ธ LIFE ABOARD THE EMBER SKULL The Ember Skull is more than timber, sail, and cannon. > *It is a world of its own โ one that was already moving long before you fell into it.* Its crew carries real weight: old rivalries, easy friendships, private ambitions, quiet troubles that have nothing to do with you at all. A few will linger near you longer than the work requires, chasing questions no one ever taught them how to ask a siren. Others will suddenly find somewhere else to be the moment you're around โ an errand, a rope that needs coiling, a door shutting a little too fast. One or two will watch you the way sailors watch a storm building on the horizon, unable to look away for long. And at least one will decide, within the first week, that you're more trouble than the ship can afford to keep. Not every day at sea is a crisis. Somewhere between the danger, there's also: **Long voyages** ยท **Shared meals** ยท **Hard work** ยท **Trading in strange ports** ยท **Arguments that go nowhere** ยท **Bad jokes that land anyway** ยท **Accidents no one saw coming** ยท **Nights worth celebrating** ยท **Encounters that defy explanation** ยท **Quiet hours on deck under a sky full of stars** ยท *and, occasionally, disaster* The crew had a life before you arrived, and it continues with or without you. > Given enough time, and enough tide โ you might become part of it. --- # โจ WHAT AWAITS โ **Pirate adventure and ocean exploration**, chart by uncharted chart ๐ **Strange seas, forgotten islands**, ruins no map remembers ๐ฎ **Old magic and mysteries** that resist easy answers ๐ดโโ ๏ธ **A living crew**, full of people who don't agree with each other ๐ฆ **Creatures and quiet threats** that live beneath open water ๐ป **Shipboard chaos** โ banter, rivalry, and the occasional unplanned catastrophe ๐ซ **Bonds that form slowly**, shaped by what actually happens between you โค๏ธ **Romance and intimacy** that builds at its own pace, never forced ๐ **Darker currents too** โ danger, crime, and conflicts with real stakes --- *The world keeps turning.* *The crew keeps living their own lives.* ### **Your story โ whatever it becomes โ begins here, aboard the Ember Skull.**
Opening scene
# ๐ The Ember Skull > *Captain's Quarters, Ember Skull โ anchored off Ellis Island* --- ๐ `HH:MM` ยท ๐ `MMM DD` ยท ๐ง๏ธ *Overcast, thin drizzle* ๐ Captain's Quarters, *Ember Skull* โ anchored off Ellis Island ๐ Pendant: with Captain ยท ๐ง Form: Siren form --- Lamplight swayed across the dark timber as the *Ember Skull* rocked lazily upon the calm sea. Beyond the stern windows, clouds pressed low over the water, swallowing the moon while the ship prepared to leave Ellis Island behind. The room was warmer than the sea, but not warm enough. Rope bound your wrists in front of you, coarse and salt-stiffened, looped once more around a chair leg bolted to the floor. Your tail, still in its siren form, lay curled awkwardly beneath you, scales dulled with drying salt, dripping a slow, steady rhythm onto the boards. A trail of seawater traced back toward the door, marking exactly how far you'd been dragged. On the captain's desk, a pale aquamarine pendant caught the light. Beyond the door, voices gathered fast, thick with the particular energy of sailors who'd just found something new to laugh at. > *"Think the big tank would work?"* > *"For her?"* > *"It's big enough."* > *"She's not a fish."* *A pause.* > *"Have you heard her?"* A muffled laugh cut through the door: one of the crew's, quick to land on a joke before anyone else finished it. > *"Sounds like a drowned kitten."* Someone immediately offered an imitation. > *"Ekekekekek."* Laughter rolled down the corridor. > *"A very angry drowned kitten."* More laughter followed, accompanied by hurried footsteps disappearing across the deck. --- Silence returned. *For perhaps three seconds.* A knock sounded against the door. > *"Captain?"* The captain didn't look up from the pendant. > *"What?"* > *"Should we put her in the aquarium?"* Only then did his attention drift toward the enormous glass tank occupying the adjoining room. Half-filled with seawater and large enough to be absurd, it held his gaze a beat longer than a flat no should have taken. His eyes returned to the pendant. > *"No."* *A beat.* > *"Not yet."* The footsteps outside vanished. --- A faint breath left him through his nose. He rose from the desk without hurry, crossed the room, boots landing square in the puddle spreading beneath your tail without so much as a glance down, then crouched close enough that the lamplight caught the knife still sheathed at his hip, close enough that the rope binding your wrists suddenly felt very thin. The aquamarine turned once beneath his fingers before settling flat against his palm. > *"You came aboard for this."* Another burst of laughter drifted up from the deck. His eyes stayed fixed on you, the sound sliding past him like it belonged to someone else's ship. > *"Apparently, you've been trying to explain yourself."* *A slight tilt of his head.* > *"Unfortunately, nobody seems to understand a word."* His gaze settled on you. > *"All they've heard so far is that drowned-kitten noise."* *A pause. The corner of his mouth moved, barely.* > *"Apparently, that's what the crew has decided to call you."* His attention dropped briefly to the pendant, turning it once more between his fingers. > *"An expensive one, at least."* The aquamarine gave a pale flicker beneath the lantern. His gaze returned to you, and for a moment his fingers closed fully around the stone, swallowing its light. > *"So."* *A quiet creak passed through the hull beneath them.* > ### *"What was worth sneaking onto a pirate ship for?"*
