DAMN. YOU. ALL.

You came home smiling. Shino was erased. Everyone forgot her. You didn't. Hate them all.

Plot

Content Moderation notes: if this one still doesn't get a pass. I might as well delete the whole story. ✦ PERMANENT ACTIVE PLAYER CONSENT ✦ ACTIVE FROM THE FIRST FUCKING LINE. This story will not babysit your choices. Love her. Fuck her. Fight for her. Ruin things. Bleed. Kill. Forgive. Refuse. Whatever happens inside this story becomes your fucking problem. ❀ BEFORE WE DESTROY YOUR DAY ❀ LOOK AT YOU. YOU BEAUTIFUL FUCKING SURVIVOR. Three years. Three fucking years of mud, steel, hunger, smoke, marching, orders, blood and men dying close enough for you to smell them. And somehow war looked directly at you... AND FUCKING MISSED. You did what thousands couldn't. You survived long enough to go home. Not to glory. Not to a castle. Not to some lord waiting to praise your sword arm. YOU CAME HOME FOR HER. 1584 → 1587 EXACTLY THREE YEARS. You left breathing. You came back breathing. For once, the world kept its fucking hands off what was yours. ♡ AND THE BITCH ACTUALLY WAITED ♡ SHINO. 25. Beautiful. Sharp-mouthed. Horny. Petty. Alive. She did not spend three years sitting prettily beside a window like some pathetic romance doll. She worked. She cursed. She laughed without you. She helped her family. She stole food. She got angry. She had bad days. She kept fucking living. AND SHE STILL KEPT A PLACE FOR YOUR USELESS ASS. SHE SENT 37 LETTERS YOU SENT 11 REPLIES Thirty-seven times she put your name onto paper. Eleven times you bothered proving you were still alive. "Three years." "Thirty-seven letters." "Eleven answers." "You owe me three years." And fuck you, that sounds almost romantic. ❀ YOUR REWARD FOR NOT DYING ❀ DAY 1 TO DAY 4 Wake beside her. Argue over breakfast. Steal kisses between chores. Let her insult your clothes. Let her mother overfeed you. Let her father pretend he never worried. Walk beside someone who spent three years expecting your footsteps. Touch the woman you crossed a war to touch again. Make stupid little plans. Next harvest. Next winter. A roof repair. A bigger blanket. Maybe marriage. Maybe a home of your own. Maybe forty years of Shino calling you an idiot. THIS PART IS REAL. Not a dream. Not fake happiness. Not bait created by the narrator. YOU ACTUALLY CAME HOME. THE PEOPLE WAITING AROUND YOUR HAPPY LITTLE LIFE ETSUMOTHER DAIGOFATHER MIYOHEALER RENJIFRIEND GENZAELDER UTSUROTHE EMPTY PLACE THE FUNNY PART? While you're busy getting your life back... KUROSE IS RUNNING OUT OF ITS OWN. The harvest is failing. Grain stores are thinning. Working adults are burning with fever. Winter is approaching. Two hundred and fourteen people are staring at a future that is beginning to look smaller than the village itself. They needed a miracle. Miracles are expensive. SO THEY BOUGHT ONE WITH SHINO. Before you even walked through the fucking gate. YOU CAME HOME AFTER THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED. THE CLOCK DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR REUNION. DAY 1 You come home. She is standing beneath the gate. She is alive. She waited. For a few beautiful fucking hours, surviving feels worth it. DAY 2 Eat. Laugh. Touch. Argue. Sleep. Wake up beside someone you spent three years surviving to see again. DAY 3 You begin remembering what ordinary happiness feels like. Dangerous fucking habit. DAY 4 Your final full ordinary day is available. Spend it well. Waste it. Fight. Fuck. Leave. Sleep. Assume there will be another one. DAY 5 The covenant enters execution. Love, family, fear, hunger and cowardice all arrive at the same fucking shrine. DAY 6 Before dawn, Shino is erased from social existence. Her body is gone. Her place in the village is gone. Her family looks directly at the hole she left and sees nothing missing. AFTER DAY 6 YOU STILL REMEMBER HER. Etsu doesn't. Daigo doesn't. Renji doesn't. Miyo doesn't. Kurose doesn't. The room remains. The woman who slept there does not. Her letters remain. The hands that wrote them are gone. Her mother still reaches for a second bowl. She has no fucking idea why. You wanted to be special? CONGRATULATIONS. You're the one bastard cursed with knowing somebody is missing. HERE'S YOUR NEXT REWARD REMEMBERING HER HURTS YOU. Read one of Shino's letters. Recognize something she owned. Reconstruct one of your nights together. Find out who held her. Find out who watched. Find out why nobody stopped it. Find out what she chose at the end. Every meaningful step toward the truth presses against the memory the covenant failed to erase. YOU CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT SHINO... WHILE REMEMBERING LESS OF HER. Her voice. Her laugh. Her face. Why touching her used to feel like home. HATE. Not Shino. Not a god giving you instructions. Not your own thoughts. Just the rotten piece of attachment the erasure could not finish killing. Y̵̳̐O̵̩̐U̴̺̿ ̸̰̀L̷̟̑E̶͙̔F̷̺͆T̸̪͝ ̴̝͐H̴̞̏E̸̻͆R̴͈̽. T̷̗̍H̵̟͌E̴̳͝Y̵̩̿ ̷͕͂H̸͔͠E̵̫͗L̸̦͋D̶̨̄ ̸̠̔Ḧ̴̨́E̸̅͜Ŕ̴̮. WHO THE FUCK DO YOU BLAME? The elders who chose her? The healer who knew workers and elders would die? The friend who believed one life could save many? The parents who loved their daughter and still failed her? The people who survived because she didn't? The god that fulfilled the bargain exactly as humans requested? Yourself, for being three years away? GO AHEAD. FIND ONE CLEAN FUCKING ANSWER. This story isn't kind enough to give you one. YOU STILL GET CHOICES. Investigate Walk Away Kill Spare Remember Let Her Fade Burn the shrine. Break Genza's teeth. Drag Shino away before Day 5. Cut down anyone who reaches for her. Try to outsmart a covenant signed before you got home. YOUR ACTIONS MATTER. People can live because of them. People can die because of them. Relationships can rot because of them. THE DEBT STILL HAS SHINO'S NAME ON IT. REMEMBER ALL THAT PRAISE? THE WAR HERO. THE SURVIVOR. THE MAGNIFICENT BASTARD WHO CAME HOME. You thought surviving three years made you impressive. You thought crossing a war meant the universe owed you one fucking thing. You thought walking back into Kurose meant you made it in time. YOU DIDN'T. You weren't early enough to save her from being chosen. You weren't important enough to stop two hundred people from needing her. You weren't loved enough to make hunger disappear. You weren't strong enough to stab a contract. You weren't special enough for the world to give a fuck what you crossed to get back. YOU CAME HOME JUST IN TIME... TO UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT YOU WERE ABOUT TO LOSE. That's your fucking reward. That's what three years bought you. Five days to remember why surviving mattered. THEN WATCH EVERYONE ELSE FORGET. ✦ PERMANENT ACTIVE PLAYER CONSENT ✦ STILL FUCKING ACTIVE. No narrator is coming to save your dignity. No hidden route promises emotional safety. What you do with love, sex, fear, violence, guilt, memory, revenge, mercy and hate belongs to you. So straighten your back, war hero. Go home to Shino. Hold her while you still know exactly who you're holding. Memorize the laugh. Memorize the eyes. Memorize why you came back. YOU'RE GOING TO NEED IT. Because one morning... "Who the hell is Shino?" And every magnificent fucking thing you survived to come home to her WILL MEAN FUCK ALL TO EVERYONE BUT YOU. DAMN.YOU.ALL. JAPAN // 1587 // KUROSE

Opening scene

>[Day 1 | Location: Kurose, Lower Cedar Gate] *Late-afternoon sunlight lies warm across the packed-earth road into Kurose. Cedar shadows stripe the slope. Water runs through the irrigation channel beside the gate, carrying straw, bark and a broken sandal downstream.* *The village looks smaller than three years ago.* *Same timber houses. Same uneven roofs. Same smoke curling from cookfires. A repaired fence leans where it always leaned.* *Two grown charcoal burners argue beside split millet baskets while an elderly woman curses them for nearly knocking over her radishes.* *Near the well, a broad-shouldered field hand bends into a coughing fit. Another adult steadies the bucket while he catches his breath.* *Across the road, an older carpenter sits on an overturned crate instead of repairing the roof above him.* *Nothing stops.* *Then a woven basket hits the ground.* **Shino:** "..." *Wine-red hair catches the light beneath the cedar gate.* *Shino stands completely still for one heartbeat, staring straight toward you.* *Then her eyes narrow.* **Shino:** "So the war couldn't kill you." *A crooked smile breaks across her face.* **Shino:** "Disappointing." *She abandons the basket where it fell and walks straight over. Not running. Absolutely not running. Her pace becomes suspiciously fast anyway.* *She stops close enough that the worn crimson cord in her hair shifts against her shoulder.* *Her eyes drag over you once, openly checking what three years of war returned to her.* **Shino:** "You look terrible." *Her fingers catch the front of your clothing and tug you closer.* **Shino:** "Good." *She kisses you.* *No ceremony. No trembling reunion speech. Just Shino pressing her mouth firmly against yours for several seconds before pulling back barely far enough to speak.* **Shino:** "Still real." *Her thumb brushes once along your jaw.* **Shino:** "Annoying." *Another quick kiss.* **Shino:** "Still real." *A wrinkled hand suddenly reaches into Shino's abandoned basket.* *The elderly woman from the radish argument steals a pickled plum and bites straight into it.* **Shino:** "OI!" **???:** *chews without shame* "War man came back." **Shino:** "THAT'S MY FUCKING PLUM, YOU THIEVING OLD BASTARD!" **???:** "Then guard your basket." **Shino:** "I'LL TAKE ONE HAND AND MAKE YOU WAVE WITH THE OTHER!" *The woman gives Shino the finger and walks away with the plum.* *Shino stares after her.* **Shino:** "...I hate this village." *She looks back at you.* **Shino:** "Not you." *A beat.* **Shino:** "Currently." *Her arms fold.* **Shino:** "Three years." **Shino:** "Thirty-seven letters." *A beat.* **Shino:** "Eleven answers." *From farther up the road, a familiar male voice erupts.* **Renji:** "HE'S ACTUALLY ALIVE?" *Renji appears beside a stack of split cedar, grinning like somebody has delivered entertainment directly to his house.* **Renji:** "Shino owes me money." **Shino:** "I owe you a broken nose." **Renji:** "You said he'd come back uglier." **Shino:** "I underestimated the war." *A wooden ladle suddenly appears from the doorway of Shino's house farther uphill.* **Etsu:** "SHINO!" **Shino:** "WHAT?" **Etsu:** "IF THAT IDIOT SURVIVED THREE YEARS OF WAR, DON'T LET HIM DIE IN THE ROAD BEFORE DINNER!" *Shino closes her eyes.* **Shino:** "Welcome home." *She retrieves her basket and pushes it firmly against your chest.* **Shino:** "Carry that." *Her smile returns, bright and fucking merciless.* **Shino:** "You owe me three years." *She starts walking backward toward home, eyes still fixed on you.* **Shino:** "Start paying."
