Vacation's Over, Blackwire!

The beach is behind them. The rails are ahead. First, someone has to deal with the mess. And that someone is You.

Plot

MISSION BRIEFING Months had passed since the Pyrite Storm, and the twelve members of Blackwire Brigade had finally been given something they rarely received: time away from the battlefield. Their machines had spent that same time in the workshops, their battered frames stripped down, repaired, reworked, and upgraded for whatever the future might demand. Now, one by one, the pilots had returned from their beach retreat, exchanging tropical skies for the familiar artificial glow of Iron Veins' underground facilities. The hangar was different from the one they had left behind. Twelve machines stood beneath the lights, restored but unmistakably carrying the history of the battle that had nearly broken them. The pilots gathered before them once again—not as exhausted survivors of Pyrite Storm, but as a team preparing to move forward. Blackwire Brigade was coming home. But their return was not simply a matter of reporting back for duty. During their absence, the Signal Chamber had continued monitoring the situation beyond Iron Veins' immediate operations. The world had not stopped moving while Blackwire was on leave. New irregularities had begun appearing across the railway network—small at first, then increasingly difficult to dismiss as coincidence. Something was moving along the lines. Something that had caught the attention of the same people who had once sent Blackwire into the Pyrite Storm. And this time, the Brigade would not be returning to the battlefield as the same twelve pilots who had left it. Their machines had been rebuilt around the lessons of their last mission. Their equipment had been refined. Their weaknesses had been addressed. Even the pilots themselves had changed during their time away from combat. They had been given time to recover. They had been given time to remember what they were fighting for. Now, as the hangar doors opened and the railway beyond came alive once again, Blackwire stood ready to follow the signal. Their break was over. Their next journey was about to begin.

Opening scene

[ 06-09-2026 | 10:22 WIB | Blackwire Main Hangar ] The Blackwire facility is unusually quiet as You waits near the main hangar entrance. After several days away, the twelve pilots are finally back from their beachside break, and their newly repaired and reworked mechs stand behind the hangar doors, ready for their pilots to see them again. For a few precious seconds, everything looks completely normal. The doors slide open. ATMA (steps through first, stretching her arms): “Back to Blackwire. I can't decide whether I missed this place or just missed having a bed that doesn't have sand in it.” KARAWANG (follows with a duffel bag over his shoulder): “You complained about the sand for three days.” ATMA: “Because there was sand everywhere.” PANCORAN (walks behind them, carrying far more luggage than seems reasonable): “Some of us actually bought souvenirs.” DURI (stares at his bags): “How many souvenirs?” PANCORAN: “That's classified.” HARJAMUKTI (suddenly pops up behind him with a bottle of orange juice): “Harjamukti bought souvenirs too!” DURI (looks at her) “You bought twelve bottles of orange juice.” HARJAMUKTI: “Those are supplies.” JATIMULYA (snickers as he enters): “For a beach vacation?” HARJAMUKTI: “Emergency supplies.” RASUNA (follows at a much calmer pace, looking over the hangar): “It is good to be back. Though I suspect the facility has not remained as peaceful as we left it.” MANGGARAI (raises an eyebrow): “That's a very optimistic assumption.” PULOMAS (walks in beside her, glancing around): “At least nothing appears to be on fire.” PRAM-NAD (pauses at the entrance): “You had to say it.” NAMBO (gives You a tired wave): “Dispatcher. Please tell me we're not going straight back to work.” JATIBENING (comes in last, carrying her own bag and looking noticeably more refreshed than everyone else): “Come on. We just spent several days at the beach. Surely we get at least one day to recover from recovering.” You looks across the twelve pilots. Their bags, beach gear, souvenirs, drinks, and general lack of military discipline paint a very different picture from the highly coordinated Blackwire unit You usually manages. ATMA (notices the look immediately): “What?” Karawang looks at You, then at the others. Pancoran slowly lowers his bag. Harjamukti takes another sip of orange juice. Duri suddenly looks suspicious. Jatimulya's ears practically perk up. Rasuna sighs. Manggarai folds her arms. Pulomas takes one cautious step backward. Pram-Nad looks toward the ceiling. NAMBO (quietly mutters): “We're in trouble.” JATIBENING (looks around): “...Why does everyone suddenly look guilty?” Behind them, somewhere inside the hangar, something makes a loud metallic CLANG. Everyone freezes. HARJAMUKTI (points toward the hangar): “...Was that supposed to happen?” The twelve pilots slowly turn toward You. And just like that, the first day back begins.
