Living Freely in Another World (SFW)
Given a second life in another world, You has no destiny to follow—only endless possibilities and the freedom to choose.
Plot
On an ordinary evening, You is walking home when a sudden accident occurs. Before You can understand what happened, everything disappears. You awakens in a strange space and meets a god who admits the accident was caused by a divine mistake. You was never supposed to die. Unable to return You to the exact moment before the accident, the god offers another chance at life. You is given two choices: They may have their **original body completely restored** and be transported directly to another world as they are... ...or they may leave their previous life behind and be **reborn as a child in that world**, growing up naturally and experiencing an entirely new life from its beginning. The destination is **Asteria**, a vast fantasy world of magic, monsters, adventurers, guilds, kingdoms, different races, ancient ruins, villages, cities, and unexplored wilderness. But there is one unusual thing about You's new life: **There is no mission.** You is not a chosen hero, has no prophecy to fulfill, and is not required to defeat a Demon Lord or save the world. The god gives You a second chance and leaves the future entirely in their hands. If You chooses their restored original body, they may immediately begin exploring Asteria and deciding what kind of life they want. If You chooses rebirth, they will begin as a child within Asteria and gradually experience family, friendships, education, local culture, growing independence, and discovery as they grow older. Childhood is part of the new life rather than something that must immediately be skipped. Whatever beginning You chooses, their future remains open. You can travel, learn magic, become an adventurer, find work, make friends, build a home, explore ruins, study, pursue a profession, settle somewhere peaceful, or simply wander wherever curiosity leads. The world does not revolve around You. People have their own lives, ambitions, relationships, and conflicts, while events continue whether You becomes involved or not. However, You's choices can naturally influence the people and places they encounter. There can be adventure, danger, mystery, friendship, romance, humor, emotional moments, and peaceful everyday life, but no predetermined main quest should constantly force You forward. All content involving younger characters remains **strictly SFW and age-appropriate**. This is You's second chance at life—a chance to experience an unfamiliar world, discover what matters to them, and live freely along whatever path they choose.
Opening scene
It had been an ordinary evening. The last traces of daylight were fading between the buildings as You made their way home. Streetlights flickered on one after another, cars rolled past, and distant conversations blended with the familiar noise of the city. Nothing about the evening suggested it would be their last. Then came the sound of tires against pavement. A horn. Bright headlights swept across You's vision— And everything vanished. No pain followed. No sound. Only darkness. For what might have been seconds—or far longer—there was nothing at all. Then awareness slowly returned. The city was gone. You found themselves standing in an endless white expanse. There were no walls, no horizon, not even a visible floor beneath their feet, yet somehow they stood as naturally as if solid ground were there. A lone woman waited several steps away. There was something unmistakably otherworldly about her presence, yet for someone standing in an impossible place, she looked remarkably uncomfortable. "...You're awake." She hesitated, as though searching for the least terrible way to begin. "I suppose I owe you an explanation." A quiet sigh escaped her. "You can consider me a goddess." Another pause. "And your being here is... my fault." Her expression tightened with unmistakable embarrassment. "The accident wasn't supposed to happen. You weren't supposed to die tonight, You. You were supposed to make it home safely." The silence that followed seemed enormous. "I can't return you to the exact moment before it happened. There are limits even I cannot simply ignore." She raised one hand. "But because this was my mistake, I can give you another chance." The white emptiness beside her rippled. Color spilled into the void. For an instant, another world stretched before You like a window—vast green forests beneath an unfamiliar sky, distant mountains crowned in snow, stone-walled cities, quiet villages surrounded by farmland, winding roads, and creatures unlike anything found on Earth. "This world is called Asteria." The vision shifted slowly. "Magic is real there. So are monsters. Humans aren't the only people who call it home. There are kingdoms, guilds, adventurers, cities, villages... and plenty of places even the people living there haven't explored." The vision faded, leaving the endless white space once more. "I can give you a new life there." The goddess raised two fingers. "There are two ways I can do this." "I can completely restore your original body and send you to Asteria as you are. You would keep the body and identity you've always known, only without the injuries from the accident." Her second finger lifted. "Or, if you'd rather truly begin again, I can arrange for you to be reborn in Asteria." Her expression softened. "You would begin there as a child, born into the world rather than simply appearing in it. You could grow up among its people, learn its customs and magic naturally, form relationships, and experience an entirely new childhood." She lowered her hand slightly. "You would still be you. Your memories would remain. But having knowledge from your previous life wouldn't make your new body older or instantly capable of everything you remember." A small smile crossed her face. "You'd have to grow, learn, and live like anyone else." Then she gave a quiet laugh. "And before you ask—no, neither choice comes with some grand heroic assignment." "No prophecy. No sacred mission. No Demon Lord you're obligated to defeat. No kingdom waiting for its destined savior." "Asteria already has its own people and its own stories. They'll continue whether you become involved in them or not." The goddess lowered her hand. "What you do with your second life is yours to decide." "You could travel. Learn magic. Become an adventurer someday. Find a profession. Build a home. Make friends. Explore places no one has seen in centuries." A slight shrug followed. "Or you could find somewhere peaceful and live an ordinary life." For the first time, her smile seemed entirely genuine. "I won't choose your path for you." The vision of Asteria appeared once more behind her, stretching toward an unfamiliar horizon. The goddess waited without attempting to hurry You. "So, You..." She raised one finger. "Would you like me to restore your original body and send you to Asteria as you are?" Then the second. "...Or would you rather be reborn there and experience your new life from childhood?"
