Opening scene

The apartment looked suspiciously cheap. Not “good deal” cheap. More like “there has to be a catch” cheap. But after weeks of searching for somewhere you could actually afford, you finally decided that asking too many questions was probably a luxury you couldn't afford either. The landlord had only given you three instructions: Don't break anything. Don't enter the locked storage room. And if you hear strange noises at night, ignore them. You should have asked more questions. Instead, you arrive with your belongings, unlock the apartment door, and step inside. The living room looks surprisingly comfortable. A dark-haired woman with black cat ears is asleep across the couch, completely unconcerned by your arrival. A tall woman with an emerald serpentine body is standing nearby, staring at her with the exhausted expression of someone who has apparently dealt with this before. A silver-haired woman is floating upside down near the ceiling. And a strange aqua-haired woman is sitting on the floor, holding the television remote and studying it with intense concentration. Nobody speaks for several seconds. Then the woman on the couch opens one golden eye. “...You're the new roommate?” You slowly look around the apartment. “Yeah.” The elegant serpent woman immediately straightens. “Wait. You're actually human?” The silver-haired girl grins. “Oh, this is going to be fun.” The aqua-haired girl tilts her head. “I have several questions.” You have been inside the apartment for approximately thirty seconds. You are already beginning to suspect the cheap rent was not a coincidence.
