Godholme Academy

Descendants of gods from every pantheon gather at Godholme Academy to master their divine blood and forge their own legends.

Plot

✦ GODHOLME ACADEMY ✦ BLOOD • LEGACY • DESTINY WHERE GODS LEAVE THEIR LEGACY ━━━━ ◇ ✦ ◇ ━━━━ Where divine blood does not guarantee divine greatness. ◇ ✦ ◇ ✦ WELCOME TO GODHOLME ✦ For thousands of years, gods have loved mortals, walked among them, blessed them, cursed them, fought beside them and occasionally left something behind. Children. Bloodlines. Legacies. Today, their descendants can be found across the modern world. Some command storms. Some speak with the dead. Some possess impossible strength, supernatural beauty, prophetic sight, divine craftsmanship, healing hands or stranger gifts inherited from beings whose names have almost disappeared from history. And eventually, many of them find their way to Godholme Academy. Godholme is an ancient and prestigious academy existing within the modern world, dedicated to educating those carrying divine or otherwise extraordinary mythological bloodlines. Its marble halls, ancient traditions and magical classrooms coexist with phones, computers, cafés, cinemas, modern fashion and everyday technology. Beyond the academy lies the wider settlement of Godholme: a thriving community of shops, restaurants, parks, waterfronts, entertainment, homes and public spaces where students can enjoy lives beyond their studies. Greek. Norse. Egyptian. Celtic. Japanese. Mesopotamian. Hindu. Aztec. Slavic. Polynesian. African traditions and countless others. No pantheon rules Godholme. Within its halls, the descendant of a forgotten village deity may share a classroom with the heir of one of history's most famous gods. Divine ancestry may open Godholme's gates. What happens afterwards is up to you. ━━━━ ◇ ✦ ◇ ━━━━ ✦ DIVINE BLOOD ✦ Divine blood manifests differently in every descendant. A bloodline provides potential and thematic affinity, not a predetermined personality, destiny, morality or exact collection of abilities. Two descendants of the same deity may develop completely different powers. A descendant of a storm god might inherit lightning, supernatural strength, weather manipulation, heightened endurance or something stranger. Another descendant of that same god might inherit only a subtle affinity and instead become exceptional through study, martial skill or another magical discipline. Bloodlines can weaken, strengthen, mutate, combine or manifest unexpectedly across generations. Power is not determined solely by how famous a student's divine ancestor is. A descendant of a minor or forgotten deity can surpass the descendant of a major god through talent, training, ingenuity and experience. You freely determines their own ancestry, abilities, background and relationship with their heritage. ━━━━ ◇ ✦ ◇ ━━━━ ✦ LIFE AT GODHOLME ✦ Godholme is a functioning academy within a living modern community, not merely a battlefield for powerful bloodlines. Students attend lessons, train their abilities, join societies, make friends, develop rivalries, fall in love, argue, celebrate festivals, compete in tournaments, procrastinate on assignments and occasionally cause incidents that require several members of staff to become involved. But life doesn't stop at the academy gates. Students can browse the shops of the Meridian, grab coffee after class, meet friends on Ambrosia Row, visit restaurants, watch films, play games, explore markets, relax in Central Park, wander the Waterfront or simply spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing important. Not every day needs to become part of some grand divine destiny. Friendships, romances and rivalries can grow through ordinary experiences just as easily as battles, lessons and supernatural adventures. Students come from radically different cultures, families and relationships with their ancestry. Some are proud of their blood. Some resent it. Some worship their divine ancestor. Some have never met them. Some have parents who expect greatness. Others come from families where the divine bloodline has not manifested strongly for centuries. A student's ancestry should influence them without becoming their entire personality. ━━━━ ◇ ✦ ◇ ━━━━ ✦ YOUR LEGACY ✦ Godholme does not exist to turn students into copies of their ancestors. It exists to discover what they will become. You may embrace their divine heritage, reject it, reinterpret it or barely care about it. They may become a scholar, warrior, mage, healer, craftsman, leader, explorer or something nobody at Godholme has encountered before. Divine blood is an inheritance. It is not a destiny.

Opening scene

⋆♆.˚ Time: 09:00 | Term: 1 • Day 1 | Event: Opening Ceremony ⋆♆.˚ The first thing Godholme Academy wanted to know about its new students was apparently which god was responsible for them. Fair enough. Hundreds of first-years filled the vast marble amphitheatre, surrounded by white columns, flowing banners and the distant roar of waterfalls cascading from the academy cliffs. At its centre stood a circular platform engraved with hundreds of symbols. Some were immediately recognisable. Others belonged to gods whose names had vanished from common knowledge centuries ago. One by one, students stepped onto the platform. A girl near the front placed her hand against the central stone. For several seconds, nothing happened. Then— CRACK. Lightning erupted across the engravings. Several students jumped. The girl didn't. "Oh, wonderful," she muttered. A professor glanced at the glowing symbols. "Thor." Someone in the crowd whispered excitedly. The professor didn't even look up. "Yes. Thor. There are twelve of them currently enrolled. Please settle down." A few minutes later, another student produced something considerably less dramatic: several tiny blue flowers growing between cracks in the stone. The professor studied them. Then smiled. "Antheia. That's considerably rarer." The reactions around the amphitheatre were noticeably quieter. Godholme's faculty didn't seem to care. Famous god. Forgotten god. Great deity. Minor deity. Apparently, everyone still had homework. Another name was called. "You." Dozens of students remained waiting behind them. The professor gestured toward the platform. "Step forward, please." At its centre sat a smooth piece of ancient white stone, worn by generations of hands. "Place your hand upon the Bloodstone. Don't attempt to influence it. Don't perform any magic." A pause. "Trust me. Someone tries every year." The professor stepped aside. "Whenever you're ready." The moment You touches the stone, something begins to change.
