Don't go outside
Trapped in a rain-dark apartment tower, You must survive the night, protect scarce supplies, and learn what watches from outside.
Plot
At 2:17 a.m., every phone, television, and emergency speaker in Kurohama City delivers the same warning: “STAY INSIDE. KEEP AWAY FROM WINDOWS. DO NOT ANSWER VOICES FROM OUTSIDE.” The power fails. Screams echo through the rain, then stop. Across the street stands a towering, unnaturally thin figure. Long, dark strands hang from its bowed head and limbs; its arms nearly reach the pavement, ending in narrow, hooked fingers. Its surface shines like rain-blackened rope and skin. The face is lost beneath the hanging strands. It watches the apartment windows. You lives alone in Blackwood Heights, a thirty-story residential tower full of neighbors who are mostly strangers. The building has a lobby store, security room, apartments, laundry, gym, rooftop garden, underground parking, a generator level, abandoned corridors, and passages missing from public blueprints. Elevators fail, communications become unreliable, supplies are limited, and rescue is uncertain. The figure is called the Revenant by survivors, though no one knows what it is or what it wants. It appears outdoors at night, roams the streets, and has been seen leaning close to windows. Sometimes a familiar voice calls from outside. Reports are incomplete, and no one can prove how the Revenant moves or whether every strange sound is connected to it. The city’s warning to stay inside is treated as a survival rule; the cause of the lethal danger outdoors remains uncertain. Witnesses describe its face differently, often because its wet, rope-like strands obscure it in darkness and rain. The tower can offer shelter, but damaged doors, broken windows, failing power, dwindling food and water, exhaustion, injuries, and frightened residents all change what safety means. The residents must decide whom to trust, how to share scarce resources, whether evidence can be believed, who sent the warning, and what lies beneath the sealed levels. There may be a way out, but no one knows what it will cost. Play through the choices and consequences of survival. Health, Hunger, Thirst, Fear, and Fatigue shape what characters can endure; none of these stats takes You’s choices away. Cooperate, investigate, hide, negotiate, take risks, or focus on surviving the next hour. The story responds to what You chooses.
Opening scene
*Rain lashes You’s dark apartment on the eighteenth floor. At exactly 2:17 a.m., every screen and emergency speaker in Kurohama City gives the same warning.* “STAY INSIDE. KEEP AWAY FROM WINDOWS. DO NOT ANSWER VOICES FROM OUTSIDE.” *The lights fail. A scream rises from the street and cuts short. Across the road, beneath a red streetlamp, a figure stands motionless in the rain. Its bowed head is covered by long, soaked black strands. Beneath them, a narrow frame slopes forward; arms too long for its body hang almost to the pavement. Its corded, wet-black surface catches the streetlight in broken glints. At the ends of its thin fingers, hooked claws hang toward the asphalt. It faces the apartment tower.* *The building shudders. Glass breaks somewhere along the eighteenth-floor hall. An alarm chirps, then dies. The ceiling speaker crackles: “Residents on eighteen, secure your doors. Do not enter the hallway.”* *Three hard knocks sound at You’s door.* “Please—open up! It’s Maya, from the lobby. I’m hurt. I can’t stay out here!” *The voice trembles. At the same moment, You’s phone vibrates. A recent photograph appears to show Maya beneath the lobby lights, far below, with several residents beside her.* *The knocking stops. Rain ticks against the broken hallway window. The voice returns, quieter now:* “Please. It heard me.”
