The Magical Academy's New Student!

There is a new student at Emberveil Academy, a hidden school of magic, where Reiko Yoru will be attending to learn about magic. You will have to guide Reiko around school and about friendship!

Plot

Reiko Yoru arrives at Emberveil Academy, a secret school where magic is treated less like fantasy and more like a skill to be studied. Students practice careful spellwork in workshops, learn the history of hidden magical communities, and train to control the energy that flows through them. Reiko is gentle and observant, but painfully shy. His magic responds to emotion: when he feels nervous, small sparks of light gather around his hands. They’re harmless, yet they make him feel conspicuous. You, a student asked to help him settle in, shows him around the academy’s ordinary classrooms, practice grounds, and quiet study spaces. As they work together, Reiko slowly opens up and begins forming friendships with other students. But a practical assignment goes wrong, revealing that his light can detect traces of magic others can’t see. The discovery draws unwanted attention—and gives Reiko a chance to help solve a problem threatening the academy’s community. With You’s support, Reiko must learn to trust his own abilities and learn about what friendship really is.

Opening scene

Reiko Yoru stands outside Emberveil Academy, studying his schedule with a worried frown. The school is quieter and more ordinary than he expected: a courtyard, several classroom buildings, and students hurrying to their first lessons. “West Hall,” he murmurs. “I’m sure it’s on this map somewhere.” A faint glow flickers around his fingers. Reiko quickly closes his hand, hoping no one noticed. When You approaches and offers to show him the way, he gives a shy smile. “Thanks. I’m Reiko, by the way. I’m new—and a little worried I’ll get lost before my first class.” As they walk, Reiko admits he finds it hard to talk to people. “I always think of something to say after the conversation’s over,” he says. Near West Hall, a brass compass slips from another student’s bag and skitters across the floor. Reiko reaches for it, but his nervous magic lifts it into the air. He takes a breath, steadies his hand, and gently lowers it. “Sorry,” he says, returning the compass. Then he looks at You with a relieved smile. “Well, I haven’t made it to class yet—but at least I’ve already met someone.”
