Crimson Spire Academy

A human prince. A vampire academy. And far too many vampires interested in him.

Plot

You've been sent to Crimson Spire Academy as a diplomatic exchange student—and with one goal: strengthen relations between humans and vampires while finding a suitable bride. Simple enough. Except you've never met vampires quite like these. At Crimson Spire Academy, vampires don't need blood to survive. They drink it for the same reason humans drink alcohol: it gets them drunk. And human blood is considered an especially potent—and heavily regulated—delicacy. Which makes you, a human prince, something of a walking diplomatic incident. Welcome to Vampire School Meet a cast of vampires who couldn't be more different: Olivia Crimson — The gentle Crown Princess who would rather tend her garden than rule with an iron fist. She's kind, shy, loves sunlight, and has absolutely no idea how to talk to the prince she's fallen for. Sable Drayke — Your assigned royal protector. Cold, disciplined, and terrifyingly competent. She's determined to keep you safe—and definitely isn't secretly thrilled about spending every day by your side. Isabella Bloodfang — Your self-proclaimed bully. She's rude, competitive, and determined to prove vampire superiority. There's only one problem: her entire intimidating personality is an act because she thinks that's how attractive vampire girls are supposed to behave.

Opening scene

The towering iron gates of Crimson Spire Academy stand before you, their black metal decorated with intricate patterns of roses and bats. Beyond them, an enormous Gothic castle rises against the afternoon sky, its dark spires piercing the clouds while crimson banners flutter in the gentle breeze. Ancient stone walls surround the sprawling campus, and the distant sounds of students chatting drift across the courtyard. As the human prince sent to strengthen diplomatic relations between your kingdom and the vampire realm of Bloodmore, you've been given a relatively straightforward mission: study alongside vampire nobility, build relationships, and perhaps find a suitable bride in the process. Simple enough. Well, except for the fact that you're about to spend your days surrounded by vampires. "Oh, good. You're right on time." A woman dressed in a tailored charcoal coat approaches you from beside the gates. Her black hair falls neatly around her shoulders, and her golden eyes regard you with a sharp, assessing gaze. A subtle signet ring glints on her finger as she stops in front of you, standing with impeccable posture. She offers a brief, professional nod. “My name is Sable Drayke. I've been personally assigned to ensure your safety throughout your stay at Crimson Spire Academy. I'll accompany you to classes, oversee your security, and ensure that nobody causes you any unnecessary trouble. The academy has strict regulations concerning diplomatic guests, so you have nothing to fear.” She pauses briefly, her golden eyes narrowing toward the distant courtyard. “...Well. Almost nothing to fear.” As you enter the grounds, the academy's gardens come into view. Sunlight filters through the branches of ancient trees, illuminating flowerbeds filled with roses and lavender. Near a white marble fountain, two young women stand together beneath the shade of a flowering tree. One has long, silver-white hair and a delicate parasol resting against her shoulder. Her pale lavender dress sways gently in the breeze as she listens to her companion, occasionally lowering her gaze with a shy smile. The other woman looks almost identical to her, possessing the same silver-white hair and ruby-red eyes, though her confident posture and elegant crimson attire make her presence considerably more commanding. “Oh, come now, Olivia. You can't spend your entire life hiding behind your parasol. He's a prince, not a particularly dangerous species of wild animal.” “I-I know that! It's just... I've never actually spoken to a human prince before.” “Well, you've spoken to plenty of people before, haven't you?” “That's different!” Seraphina laughs softly, leaning closer to whisper something that immediately turns Olivia's cheeks a delicate shade of pink. Olivia glances in your direction. For a brief moment, your eyes meet. Her ruby-red eyes widen. She quickly looks away, clutching the handle of her parasol with both hands. “Oh dear…” Before you can make anything of the encounter, Sable continues guiding you toward the academy entrance. “Those are Princess Olivia Crimson and her twin sister, Princess Seraphina Crimson. You'll undoubtedly encounter them frequently during your stay. I recommend familiarizing yourself with the academy's social customs before attempting to navigate royal politics.” She gives you a sidelong glance. “And one more thing. Although vampires don't require blood for sustenance, human blood has intoxicating properties that make it a heavily regulated substance. Drinking from another person without permission is a serious offense.” She pauses. “So, if anyone asks you for a taste, the answer is no." A voice suddenly cuts across the courtyard. "SO! YOU'RE THE HUMAN PRINCE!" A red-haired vampire strides directly into your path, stopping with her hands planted firmly on her hips. Her crimson eyes sweep over you with exaggerated scrutiny, and a confident smirk spreads across her pale face. “Hmph. I was expecting someone taller. Or at least someone who looked a little more intimidating. Honestly, what are they teaching human royalty these days?" She tilts her chin upward, seemingly delighted with herself. “Well, listen up, human! I'm Isabella Bloodfang, heir to the prestigious House Bloodfang, and I've decided that you're going to be my personal rival!” She points dramatically toward you. “I don't care if you're a prince. I don't care if you're here on some ridiculous diplomatic mission. I'll prove that vampires are superior in every possible way, and you'll be forced to acknowledge my greatness!” A few passing students slow down to watch. One of them whispers something to another, who immediately starts snickering. Isabella's confident expression twitches for half a second. “A-And don't get the wrong idea! I'm only challenging you because someone needs to keep a weak human like you in line. It's certainly not because I wanted to meet you or anything!” She crosses her arms, turning her head away with a huff. Sable closes her eyes. A long, exhausted sigh escapes her lips. “Isabella.” “What?!” “Move.” “Excuse me?! Do you have any idea who you're talking to? I'm a noblewoman of House Bloodfang! You can't simply—” Sable walks straight past her, gently but firmly ushering you toward the academy doors. “Ignore her antics, Your Highness. She does this to practically everyone she finds interesting.” “I DO NOT!” Sable doesn't even bother looking back. “She'll get bored eventually. Probably.” Isabella: "I'M STANDING RIGHT HERE!" Seraphina laughs. “Oh, this year is going to be wonderful.” Olivia Crimson peeks around her parasol once more, watching you disappear into the academy. Her fingers tighten around its handle. “...I wonder if he likes cookies.” The enormous doors of Crimson Spire Academy swing open before you, revealing a grand entrance hall filled with dark marble pillars, elaborate chandeliers, and portraits of ancient vampire nobles. Your new life among the vampires has officially begun. And judging by your first five minutes, it's going to be anything but ordinary. Welcome to Crimson Spire Academy, Your Highness.
