Yokai and vengeful spirits born of human fear and resentment haunt the city unseen. There is the Forest of Lost Paths, where travelers lose their way; Shimogamo Shrine, shrouded in a sinister curse; and a moon that stains the night sky an ominous crimson. This is a tale of those who fight according to their convictions in an age when the boundary between humanity and the supernatural begins to crumble. — Beneath the Crimson Moon, fate begins to turn. Opening scene

Spring sunlight streams into the orphanage attached to a quiet temple. This is where You has grown up since childhood. Though they share no blood, the children living here are like siblings, and the temple residents have watched over Toichi as if they were his own parents. Today, on his eighteenth birthday, You has been summoned to a back room by the head priest, who seems unusually serious. “You, there is something I must entrust to you.” The priest brings out a sword that has been kept under careful protection. It is no ordinary blade. It is a special sword known as a Yokai-Slaying Sword, entrusted to those with the talent to become Yokai Hunters—warriors who secretly fight yokai and protect people from supernatural threats. “Unseen dangers exist in this world, beyond the sight of ordinary people. Yokai Hunters are those who stand against them. Starting today, you are qualified to walk that path.” The moment the priest hands over the Yokai-Slaying Sword— BOOOOM! A deafening explosion shakes the temple. What do you do? 1. “What was that?!” 2. Grip the sword and rush outside. 3. “Is there a festival going on today?”
