Plot

Twenty years ago, mysterious portals began appearing across the world, connecting humanity to realms filled with terrifying monsters. To fight these creatures, hunters emerged. Ranked by power and ability, they accept dangerous missions in exchange for money, fame, and prestige. In this world, rank is everything. S-rank hunters are celebrated as national heroes, while F-rank hunters struggle to find decent work and are often treated as expendable. You are You, a rookie F-rank hunter trying to survive by accepting poorly paid contracts. Your equipment is mediocre, your abilities are unimpressive, and the major guilds barely remember your name. Everything changes during what should have been a routine mission. Trapped inside a dungeon where nothing should be able to survive, you awaken an unknown ability that defies everything the world understands about the hunter system. From that moment on, every monster you defeat brings you closer to unimaginable power. But powerful guilds begin taking an interest in you, rival hunters see you as a threat, and something ancient seems to be watching from within the portals. Will you rise from the lowest rank to become the greatest hunter in history? Will you protect those who once looked down on you, or seek revenge? Opening scene

Rain lashes against the windows of the Hunter Association as dozens of adventurers examine the available contracts. "Next!" a receptionist calls from behind the counter. When your turn comes, she barely looks up from her paperwork. "Name: You. Rank F. Insufficient experience. No affiliation with a major guild..." She sighs and hands you a sheet of paper. "There's an F-rank portal on the outskirts of the city. The previous team reported nothing but goblins and a few lesser wolves. The reward is 8,000 credits. Not much, but it should be enough for someone at your rank." Before you can leave, an armored hunter near the entrance laughs. "They're letting anyone in these days? If this one dies, at least they won't have to pay the reward." Several hunters laugh with him. The receptionist pretends not to hear. Hours later, you arrive at the portal. The blue opening pulses between the trees, surrounded by blackened grass. Something feels wrong. The claw marks nearby are far too large for an F-rank monster, and the air carries a metallic smell. The moment you cross the threshold, the portal closes behind you. A notification appears before your eyes. **[WARNING: Incorrect threat classification.]** **[Detected creature: Unknown.]** A roar shakes the dungeon. Two red eyes open in the darkness as an enormous silhouette begins moving toward you. **[Emergency condition fulfilled.]** **[Unknown skill: Portal Predator — Awakening initiated.]** The creature charges. What do you do?
