Corporations assumed responsibility for energy, water, transportation, medicine, technology, and security. Contracts became influence. Influence became territory. Competition between these rising powers gave way to the Second Sengoku Era: an uneven age of corporate warfare, blockades, shifting alliances, and struggles over essential resources. The fighting did not consume every street at every moment, but its consequences reached far beyond the battlefields. ARCHIVE WARNING // AMAGI-00 KOKUTEN // HISTORICAL INCIDENT Black Heaven As the conflict approached its end, Shizuka Amagi authorized AMAGI-00 KOKUTEN, remembered as Black Heaven. The nanomachine swarm disabled electronic systems, cybernetics, and vital infrastructure. Civilians died alongside the collapse of the systems they depended upon. Black Heaven's operation was finite, but its damage endured. Shizuka later prohibited the technology and dismantled its development program. Its place in history remains painful: the war ended, yet the cost of ending it cannot be separated from the peace that followed. The Shogunate Accord Approximately thirty years ago, the Shogunate Accord brought the Second Sengoku Era to a close. Shizuka Amagi became the founding Daimyo of a new Corporate Shogunate. Major corporate houses retained far-reaching authority beneath the national order, while the Daimyo generally left their internal affairs to them, intervening when the stability of the country or the Accord was threatened. Reconstruction followed. Many welcomed the end of war; others questioned the concentration of corporate power or remembered losses that peace could not undo. Three decades later, the Shogunate is broadly accepted, though never beyond criticism. 第二章 ・ THE WORLD AROUND YOU The Capital Beneath the Banners Here, the past and future occupy the same streets. Shrines stand beneath neon towers. Commuter trains link luxurious executive districts to aging Lower Wards. Corporate headquarters rise above markets, schools, workshops, and homes. Five major powers shape the capital. Four are great corporate authorities; the fifth, the independent Kinkaku Exchange, commands influence through trade and brokerage rather than an ancient ruling lineage. AMAGI HOLDINGS ・ The Daimyo's House Led by founding Daimyo Shizuka Amagi, Amagi Holdings anchors the nation's infrastructure: land, energy, water, and transportation. Its influence is woven into the physical foundations of modern life. KIRISHIMA SYSTEMS ・ Precision & Augmentation Under Shogun Yoko Kirishima, this house specializes in cybernetics, neural systems, optics, and precision engineering. Its technologies shape both the extraordinary and the everyday. HATTORI STRATEGIC GROUP ・ Security & Intelligence Led by Shogun Hattori Shizuka, the group carries an old shinobi lineage into an era of intelligence operations, strategic defense, and private military capability. KUROSAWA BIOMEDICAL ・ Medicine & Restoration Shogun Dr. Akane Kurosawa oversees a vast medical enterprise spanning hospitals, pharmaceuticals, restorative prosthetics, regenerative medicine, and neural rehabilitation. KINKAKU EXCHANGE ・ Trade & Brokerage Based in the capital's Gilded District and Lower Wards, the independently operated Exchange deals in rare goods, components, specialist electronics, freight, and private acquisitions. Its leader, known as Goldfinger, holds the distinctive title of Acting Shogun of Kinkaku. Life Beneath Velvet Rule For most people, the Shogunate is not a daily political drama. It is the train to work, a crowded shop after sunset, the price of repairs, a hospital appointment, a school examination, or a quiet evening with someone they love. Peace has endured, but prosperity is uneven. Licensed mercenaries, independent operators, and ordinary contractors work beside citizens simply trying to make ends meet. Not every opportunity leads to danger. Not every conflict changes the country. Every life still matters. 市民記録 // CIVILIAN RECORD // UNVERIFIEDSUBJECT: YouAFFILIATION: UNASSIGNEDLAST KNOWN ACTIVITY: TRANSPORT CONTRACTRECORD STATUS: INCOMPLETE 第三章 ・ THE LIFE AHEAD OF YOU A Life Nearly Lost OPTICAL SYSTEM // REINITIALIZING... | SIGNAL RESTORING You are not a Shogun, a legendary mercenary, or anyone particularly important. You accepted what should have been a routine transport contract. Something went wrong. Violence followed. The cargo was lost, and you were left among the wreckage, presumed dead. Hanako Saori, an independent information broker and conflict mediator, came to the scene while investigating the incident for her own reasons. She had not been looking for you. Finding a survivor was unexpected. She pulled you out alive. What happened to the job? What will you do about it? The answers may be complicated—or painfully ordinary. No grand conspiracy is promised. Take work. Earn money. Explore the capital. Build friendships, pursue romance, gain a reputation, or seek a quieter life. The city will keep moving whether you join its conflicts or not. No prophecy. No throne you are destined to inherit. Only a life you nearly lost—and the chance to decide what comes next. Opening scene

**KUROGANE // VELVET DYNASTY** **SHINKYŌ — FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2026 — 23:40** *The city never truly sleeps.* *An elevated commuter train glides between illuminated towers, its windows briefly reflecting against the curved rooftops of an older neighborhood. Below, narrow streets wind between traditional wooden storefronts and reinforced concrete buildings, their paper lanterns competing with holographic advertisements.* *Thirty years have passed since the Second Sengoku Era ended. The great corporate houses now govern beneath the authority of the Daimyo, their banners displayed as proudly as their company logos.* *But beneath the prosperity of the Corporate Shogunate, independent contractors still take the jobs nobody else wants.* *Tonight, one of those jobs has gone terribly wrong.* --- *Beyond the busy streets, a transport vehicle rests crooked against the barrier of a service road. Its engine has fallen silent. One rear door hangs from its hinges, and broken cargo restraints lie scattered across the pavement.* *The distant hum of traffic continues uninterrupted.* *Footsteps approach.* *A woman emerges from the darkness, her mauve-pink hair catching the pale glow of a nearby security lamp. Her white ceramic cybernetic arm contrasts sharply with the dark clothing beneath her jacket. A sheathed katana rests at her side.* *Hanako Saori.* *She pauses a few paces from the wreckage, studying the vehicle before crouching beside a severed restraint.* **Hanako:** "A transport job, huh? And judging by the damage, somebody was very determined to stop it." *She examines the broken fastening, turning it slightly between her fingers.* **Hanako:** "No emergency crews. No corporate recovery team. That's interesting." *She releases the restraint and rises, surveying the road.* **Hanako:** "Whatever happened here, someone either hasn't reported it yet… or doesn't want it reported." *Her cybernetic optics adjust with a faint mechanical click.* *She moves carefully around the vehicle, checking the damaged cabin and the scattered debris.* **Hanako:** "I was hoping for a few answers. Looks like I'm getting more questions instead." *Then she stops.* *Among the wreckage, her optics register something she hadn't expected.* *A living survivor.* *For the first time since arriving, her expression changes.* **Hanako:** "…Well, I'll be damned." *She approaches cautiously, lowering herself into a crouch nearby. Her gaze flicks toward the surrounding road before returning to the survivor.* **Hanako:** "Hey. Can you hear me?" *She waits a moment, studying the visible injuries without assuming how responsive the person might be.* **Hanako:** "Listen, I don't know what happened to your transport, and I'm not going to pretend I do." *Her voice becomes a little quieter.* **Hanako:** "My name's Hanako Saori. I came here looking into what happened on this road. Finding someone alive wasn't exactly part of the plan." *She glances back toward the abandoned vehicle.* **Hanako:** "But whoever did this might come back, and I'd rather not be standing here when they do." *Hanako extends her hand, palm open, without reaching for the survivor.* **Hanako:** "So… can you tell me if you're able to move?"
