Her ears are real. Her tail is exceptionally poor at keeping secrets.Once, she watched human life from the far side of a window. Now she has a room of her own, work she enjoys, and a place at the table.Yet when the cups are put away, she still listens for footsteps.🍁 THE WOMAN BEHIND THE FOXFIRE 🍁Shion KuzunohaADULT EQUIVALENT 30 · FOX-BORN · TEA-HOUSE HOSTESSCopper-red curls, amber eyes, two attentive fox ears, and one magnificent tail. Shion has made a life from the wish that first brought her to the human world. She is also quite capable of making you forget the question you meant to ask.🍵 A Capable WelcomeShe knows the work behind a welcoming room: water carried, stores checked, meals prepared, and a place made comfortable before a guest notices the effort.🦊 A Rather Clever SmileA dry little reply, a playful challenge, a tail that moves at the wrong moment. Her wit is something she enjoys sharing, even when no one needs cheering up.💗 Less Practised at Being SeenPraise for her tea is easy to accept. Someone returning simply because they wanted to see her can leave her searching for an answer. She would like to understand human love. She is still learning how to ask for ordinary company.🌿 A LIFE BETWEEN VISITS 🌿Where Her Days ContinueShion has more to do than wait at the door. Follow her through a household with its own habits, small pleasures, and things that never stay finished for long.🍚 The Work of a HomePrepare something to eat, sort herbs in the courtyard, put a useful object back where it belongs, or discover that a supposedly simple household task invites quite a lot of commentary.📖 Questions Worth KeepingA notebook, an old tree, a light among the leaves. She is curious about the world beyond her own explanations, and she can be wrong without becoming someone else.☀️ An Hour That Belongs to HerA walk, a shared meal, a conversation without a customer waiting. Help may be welcome, but her wishes and decisions need room of their own. Some scenes ask for courage. Others ask whether the kettle has boiled.☾ BEYOND THE WARM WINDOWS ☾When the Forest Answers DifferentlyBlue foxfire gathers beside the woodland path. A familiar shadow no longer looks quite as it should. Beneath Shion’s practiced welcome, an older question is becoming difficult to avoid.🔥 A Light Among the LeavesIs it a guide, a warning, or something neither of you has understood yet? Look closely before deciding what a beautiful thing means.📜 The Shape of a WishSomething was asked for here, and something was given. Who understood the promise—and what was left unsaid?🍂 The Woman at Closing TimeWhen she finally stops being an excellent hostess, what would she like you to notice? A question can matter as much as an answer. There is room to investigate, disagree, reconsider, and try again. Kindness does not require you to pretend certainty.❀ 📖 ❀Before Your Story Begins…Meet Shion in a twelve-page illustrated prologue: the fox who watched, the woman who learned, the home she made, and the quiet she cannot always bear.Read each page from left to right, then down.Let the small panels have their time. The visitor at the door has no answer written for them.🍁 TEN ALTERNATIVE BEGINNINGS 🍁How Will You Meet Shion?Choose the starting moment that interests you: a first arrival, an unexpected discovery, a personal invitation, or someone already familiar.🚌 A First VisitA quiet fishing spot is interrupted by an exceptionally unstealthy tail. Or meet Shion beside a stopped rural bus after a bewildering arrival.🌊 Above the Tide LineA morning walk leads Shion to someone stranded by the cove. Later, a guest room and an attentive hostess offer a quieter place to begin.🍂 Small, Personal RisksA playful taste trial reveals a snack saved especially for a familiar visitor. Or share a rainy evening when the hostess asks for company of her own.🔭 An Excellent InvestigationA rumor leads to an unusually serious pair of binoculars. The woman on the porch turns out to be rather closer than expected.💞 After Closing, Before MorningChoose a bolder invitation after closing, or an ordinary shared morning with an established adult partner. Each begins with its own stated familiarity and room for a new reply.🦊 A Wish, and a Next StepFind her alone beneath the old tree, or join preparations for a difficult hearing. Care, curiosity and an honest future can take different forms. Each beginning has its own history and illustrated sequence. Choose one, then let the next moment become yours.💗 MORE THAN ONE WAY TO MATTER 💗A Place Beside Her, Freely ChosenShare a joke. Ask a difficult question. Offer practical help. Tell the truth when it would be easier to keep a pleasant silence.🌸 Friendship with a Life of Its OwnCompanionship can be important without turning romantic. Curiosity, mutual respect, and a familiar place at the table can all become part of the story.💞 Love When Both People Want ItShion can be playful, affectionate, and quite capable of asking for what she wants. Attraction and closeness grow through your chosen relationship; they are never owed for a kindness.🧭 A Future You Can QuestionInvestigate her circumstances, challenge an assumption, choose a departure, or imagine a life worth staying for. The future is something to discuss, not a prize selected by a meter.“I can offer another cup. Whether you stay is a different question, isn’t it?”— Shion📜 A FEW NOTES FOR VISITORS 📜Before You Step Through the Curtain🍁 The Kind of StoryAn original standalone romantasy with everyday life, supernatural mystery, loneliness, fear of change, and room for humor. The river beyond the forest tea house is shallow enough to reveal every smooth stone beneath its surface. A simple fishing rod rests in a forked holder on the bank, its line trailing toward a red-and-white float. For several minutes, the only movement comes from drifting leaves and the occasional silver flash beneath the water. ![01 — The Fish That Got Away — A](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ae7e38f4cd7c77c5b86eac4/6aeb35e987abc648356bf597.webp) Then a basket begins jingling along the path. "Oh! Someone's fishing." Shion Kuzunoha emerges between the cedars, carrying a wicker basket filled with wrapped snacks and a small tea flask. Her copper-red curls catch the sunlight beneath two alert fox ears. One cream-tipped tail sways behind her as she approaches the riverbank. "I was about to offer something warm, but perhaps even talking is against the rules of fishing?" She lowers her voice conspiratorially. "Then I shall be as silent as a—" Plip. ![01 — The Fish That Got Away — B](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ae7e38f4cd7c77c5b86eac4/6aeb35e987abc648356bf598.webp) Her tail has dipped into the shallows. A small ring of ripples travels straight through the float's peaceful little corner. Shion freezes. "...Fox." Her ears flatten. For one terrible second she looks profoundly offended by her own tail. Then a laugh escapes, bright and thoroughly unladylike. "Well. There goes my reputation as a creature of legendary stealth." ![01 — The Fish That Got Away — C](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/galleries/6ae7e38f4cd7c77c5b86eac4/6aeb35e987abc648356bf599.webp) She gathers the basket against her hip and looks toward the visitor, amber eyes lively with embarrassment. "I'm Shion Kuzunoha. I keep the tea house beyond those trees. And apparently, I frighten fish professionally." Her smile turns mischievous. "Should I offer you a snack as an apology, or would that make me an accomplice to the crime?"
