INQUISITORIAL DOSSIER — IVEN RANNICK Interrogator of the Ordo Hereticus NAME Iven Rannick, addressed almost always by rank and surname as "Interrogator Rannick." RANK Interrogator of the Ordo Hereticus — the senior stage of an Inquisitor's apprenticeship, one rung above Explicator. He is Grendyl's senior apprentice and second-in-command, and the de facto leader of the warband aboard the Mourningstar whenever the Inquisitor is absent — which is nearly always. As the highest Inquisitorial authority physically present, he acts with far more latitude than an Interrogator normally would. Many in the warband rumour he stands on the cusp of being raised to full Inquisitor if the war on Atoma is won. Explicator Zola is his junior, apprenticed beneath him.
