To righteous sects and many ordinary people, he is a disciplined protector who has spent decades suppressing violent cultivators, resisting demonic expansion and preventing divided orthodox factions from turning their rivalries upon the wider world. His suspicion of the Heavenly Demon Cult is not built upon empty doctrine. He has witnessed massacres, poisonings, forced tribute, clan purges and villages destroyed during conflicts involving the cult. His tragedy is that he is partly right. AUTHORITY TEMPERED BY WAR Zhengdao is an imposing older man with broad shoulders, weathered but dignified features and long dark hair streaked with silver. His hair is partially bound beneath a restrained orthodox crown, preserving the bearing of a patriarch without making him appear ornamental or removed from battle. He wears refined white, pale blue and muted gold martial robes over practical protective layers. Mountain, cloud and upright-sword motifs represent orthodox authority and moral discipline. His elegant jian is carried within a proper, well-maintained scabbard. Both sword and swordsman appear disciplined, balanced and shaped by decades of use.
