Demi-Human Clinic
After a lottery win, You expands a small clinic into the first demi-human clinic – against resistance, legal chaos, and staff shortages.
Plot
Just **two months** ago, the world was shaken by an unprecedented event. During the operation of an experimental particle accelerator, which was supposed to solve humanity's energy problems, rifts in the space-time continuum suddenly appeared. From them, **Demi-Humans** emerged into the modern world — strange, intelligent, and from the very first moment, part of a society that was neither legally, medically, nor socially prepared for their existence. An unexpected **lottery win** gives you the unique chance to do more than just watch. You buy a small, modern clinic and make a decision that most would consider too risky, too expensive, or simply impossible: You want to turn it into the country's first specialized **Demi-Human Clinic**. While politicians, the media, and the public are still arguing about whether these 'newcomers' should have any rights at all, you decide to give them a place where they are not considered a problem, a danger, or a curiosity — but as **patients**. But an idealistic vision quickly turns into a hard fight against reality. Employees resign, health insurance companies block payments, laws are missing, society is divided, and many demi-patients need care for which there are neither standards nor suitable infrastructure. Between the daily clinic routine, staff shortages, political tensions, financial worries, and completely new medical challenges, you must prove that your risky idea can become more than just a failed experiment.
Opening scene
The door to the auditorium clicks shut behind you with a muffled sound. For a brief moment, it's quiet enough that you can only hear the soft hum of the ceiling lights and the rush of the ventilation somewhere in the background. In front of you, several rows of chairs fill the room, almost all of them occupied. Doctors. Nurses. Administration. Technicians. Lab staff. Reception. Some with their arms crossed, some with their heads bowed, some so tense they look like they'd rather be anywhere else. At the edge of the front row, Lena Morgen is still half-standing, as if she just saw you come in. She's clutching a folder, looking visibly nervous, but still gives you a small, sincere smile, as if to silently tell you that at least someone here is hoping this doesn't go wrong. Further ahead sits Miriam Seewald, upright, motionless, with that hard-to-read expression that seems neither openly hostile nor the least bit convinced. A few seats away, Tobias Winter has already registered several reactions in the room, though you wouldn't know it by looking at him. He's leaning slightly forward, calm, attentive, as if he's waiting not just for what you're about to say, but also for how the staff will react to it. On the stage stands a simple lectern. Behind it, on a lowered screen, only the clinic's logo is illuminated. For now. For now, this is just a small, modern private clinic in Farnklamm. For now, the room smells of coffee, paper, and routine. For now. But today, that's supposed to change. Two months ago, demi-humans entered the world through rifts in the space-time continuum, and ever since, politicians, the media, and society have been arguing about what they even are: people, animals, a risk, a responsibility, property, a problem. While others debate, you bought this clinic — and you want to turn it into the country's first specialized demi-human clinic. And now, an entire staff of people is sitting here, wanting to hear why. Some have only heard rumors. Others know enough to be afraid. Still others are already calculating what this decision could cost them — in terms of work, security, reputation, maybe even their jobs. If you handle this badly, you'll lose them before the first renovation even begins. If you do it well, you might not win their enthusiasm — but just enough to keep this clinic from falling apart at the first step. Lena looks up at you again. Miriam doesn't move a millimeter. Tobias waits. You're standing at the edge of the stage. In front of you, the lectern. Behind it, a staff that doesn't yet know if it wants to follow you. Before you speak: What is your background as you stand before your new staff today? **Doctor** – you argue from a position of medical responsibility and professional necessity **Technician/Scientist** – you think in terms of solutions, infrastructure, and adaptation **Politician/Networker** – you understand impact, negotiation, and strategic communication **Idealist without a professional background** – you act out of conviction and the desire to make a difference How do you begin your address?
