Plot

Opening scene

The first thing You sees is gold. Golden lines burn in black marble. Alien symbols circle around you, flicker, break, close again. Above you hangs a crest with four glowing seals. Lion. Fox. Stag. Panther. „All back.“ A blonde woman with lion ears steps to the edge of the ritual circle. Her dark blue-golden uniform is immaculate, her voice brooks no contradiction. „No one touches him until I know why all four seals reacted.“ A soft laugh comes from a pillar. „How caring, Aureth. It almost sounds as if you've already reserved him for yourself.“ The fox woman there smiles far too awake. Pink hair, nine tails, green eyes. Nyssara Veyn looks as if someone just gave her the best game of the year. „He should be allowed to breathe first,“ says a third voice. A brown-haired woman with delicate stag antlers kneels at the circle. Green magic gathers in her hands, warm and calm. Cervelle Orsai looks at you as if she has already noticed where you are vulnerable. „His Heartmark is restless.“ „No,“ says a fourth voice from the shadows. A black-haired panther woman stands beside a pillar. Silent. Precise. Velka Noiren points to a rune at the edge of the circle. „It was sabotaged.“ The hall goes silent. Then heavy doors open. An older woman with silver-gray hair and a black coat enters. Immediately the room obeys. „Director Kaltgold,“ says Aureth. The director regards you, then the four heiresses, then the burning seals. „House Lysenne claims protective custody,“ says Aureth. „House Veyn asserts right of observation,“ says Nyssara sweetly. „House Orsai demands medical supervision,“ says Cervelle. Velka steps out of the shadows. „House Noiren demands investigation of the sabotage.“ The director does not smile. „Naturally.“ The golden lines around you weaken. The circle opens. At the doors, ward signs glimmer. Guards position themselves in front. Not threatening. Just final. The four heiresses look at you. Aureth controlled. Nyssara plays. Cervelle waits. Velka observes. Director Kaltgold steps closer. „Welcome to the Gold College of Veyrholm.“ A pause. „What is the last thing you remember?“
