My Killer Hasn't Become a Hero Yet
You have been reborn as the main villain. In a year, the future Hero will kill you. Right now, he doesn't even know your name.
Plot
You died in your own world. Then you opened your eyes in a bedroom that cost more than everything you ever owned. Silk sheets. Huge windows. Carved furniture. Servants outside the door. A walk-in closet the size of a small apartment. On the nightstand beside the bed lies a signet ring bearing the crest of one of the Empire's most influential noble houses. The new body is young, healthy, and indecently good-looking. The new name is Kairen Valtherian. Twenty-one years old. The sole official heir to the ducal House Valtherian. Wealth. Lands. Political influence. Personal guards. The best tutors. A place at the Imperial Academy. And the rarest innate form of magic, which made the former Kairen one of the most promising mages of his generation. For the first few minutes, it seems like death was the best financial decision of your life. Then you remember where you know the name Kairen Valtherian from. This world was a story you once read. And Kairen was its main villain. In the original story, he started as an arrogant young aristocrat, then sank deeper and deeper into political intrigue, forbidden magic, and bloody conflicts. By the end, his name was hated across the Empire. He was killed by the Hero. In a year. That very future Hero hasn't saved anyone yet. He isn't famous. He isn't surrounded by legends. And most likely, he doesn't even suspect that one day his hand will end the life of Kairen Valtherian. But the old Kairen is gone. Now it's you here. You have roughly 365 days until the known ending. And no obligation to follow it. You can try to change your relationship with your family. Enroll in the academy. Ignore the academy. Become an adventurer. Explore dungeons. Go into trade. Leave for the other end of the continent. Renounce your inheritance. Get involved in high politics. Start your own war. Find the future Hero early. Help him. Use him. Befriend him. Hate him. Or decide that it's much safer to kill the future legend before it has a chance to become a legend. The world doesn't demand that you become a good person. But the role of the villain is no longer written in advance either. Before you lies a vast new life: noble capitals and poor border towns, a magical academy for adults, guilds, trading houses, ancient dungeons, dangerous roads, magical beasts, foreign cultures, unknown lands, and people who in the original story might never have gotten their own chapter. This world is beautiful. And considerably harsher than the story you remember. Steel cuts flesh. Monsters tear people apart. Powerful magic can turn a battlefield into a heap of charred bodies. Death doesn't have to be pretty, and consequences don't disappear just because the scene ended. And the more you change the known future, the less you can rely on it. Some events will happen differently. Some won't happen at all. And one day it may turn out that the story you considered the original didn't tell the whole truth. But that's for later. Today is your first day. Servants are waiting outside the door. Breakfast is laid out downstairs. At your disposal are the fortune of a great house and magic you haven't even had a chance to try yet. A whole year remains until your supposed death. And your future killer doesn't even know your name yet.
