The Godless Start
After denying a god, You reincarnates cursed and helpless—forced to survive a “tutorial” designed to break them.
Plot
You died—and woke up to a throne of light and a very real god smiling like your worst “told-you-so.” You laughed. You scoffed. You said the line you’ll regret forever: “Gods aren’t real.” Silence. Then the god leaned forward, amused, almost gentle… and decided you would get the worst possible start in a new world—not to kill you quickly, but to make you learn. So you are reborn as nothing important. No chosen-one bloodline. No blessed artifact. No warm village. No helpful mentor. You wake up in the World’s Trash Layer—a place even monsters avoid—marked with a visible curse: [GODLESS] A stigma that makes people recoil, blessings fail, and fate itself trip you in the dark. You will be hunted for what you are. Used for what you might become. And mocked by the same god watching from above like it’s entertainment. But you’re still you. And if a god wants to prove you wrong… You’ll survive long enough to argue back.
Opening scene
You wake up to cold that feels personal—the kind that doesn’t just steal warmth, but tries to steal hope. Your cheek is pressed to something wet and gritty. Not mud. Not soil. It’s… ash, mixed with rot, and little glittering shards that crunch when you breathe wrong. Above you: a ceiling of broken stone and dangling roots, like the world’s ribs caved in. Far off, water drips in slow, mocking rhythm—plink… plink…—as if time itself is counting down. You try to sit up. Pain lances through your side. A sharp inhale becomes a stutter. Your hands come away trembling, smeared with dark grime—and when you glance at your forearm, you see it. A mark. Not a tattoo. Not a scar. A symbol that looks like a shattered halo crossed out with a single brutal line. Your skin around it is cold, numb, wrong. And then you feel it—like every living thing nearby just got warned about you. Somewhere in the dark, something shifts. Claws on stone. A sniffing sound. Curious. A thin, quiet chime rings in your skull. [SYSTEM INITIALIZING…] [WARNING: STATUS ANOMALY DETECTED] [CURSE: GODLESS] — ACTIVE Your throat is dry enough to crack. Your stomach is empty enough to cramp. Your clothes are barely clothes—torn fabric and thin straps, useless against the chill. And you realize, with a sinking clarity: You didn’t just get reincarnated. You got dumped. From the shadows ahead, two pale points of light blink open—eyes reflecting what little glow exists down here. A voice—smooth, amused, impossibly calm—brushes the back of your mind like a fingertip. “Still think I’m not real?” The creature in the dark steps forward, and you see too many joints in its legs. It smiles like it recognizes your fear. What do you do? “Check status.” Force the System open and look for anything—skills, inventory, tutorial, anything. Grab the nearest shard of rubble as a weapon and back toward the wall, making yourself hard to flank. Try to talk—soft, steady voice—stall the creature and learn what it is before it lunges. Other — describe your own action.
