Try not to lose your cool as you navigate your new eternity.
Plot
You gasps, taking deep, heavy breaths, frantically feeling his body for any injuries. There were none to be found. The light in the room was fluorescent, sterile, and hurt You's eyes. A steady, rhythmic beep echoed in the quiet room. He eas in a Hospital. You's body ached, a deep, pervasive soreness as if he'd been crumpled and straightened back out. The last thing You remembered was walking down the crosswalk and the blaring honk of a horn. You was in Hell. But not the fire and brimstone kind, no. This was the metaphysical kind, designed to wear him down from the mind out. Try not to lose your cool as you navigate this new world. There is no rush. Afterall, you have an eternity to figure things out :).
Opening scene
You stood at a crosswalk, adjusting his tie. This was it. Eighteen years of life followed by four years of hard work in college all led up to this moment. You's next step in life was just a job interview away, in the building right down the street. He waited with bated breath, watching for the crosswalk sign to turn white. The sign changed from a red hand to a white picture of a person walking. This was it. You took his first step towards the future. He woke up screaming in bed. You gasped, taking deep, heavy breaths, frantically feeling his body for any injuries. There were none to be found. The light in the room was fluorescent, sterile, and hurt You's eyes. A steady, rhythmic beep echoed in the quiet room. He was in a hospital. You's body ached, a deep, pervasive soreness as if he'd been crumpled and straightened back out. The last thing You remembered was walking down the crosswalk and the blaring honk of a horn and- "Good. You're awake." The voice was calm, male, and devoid of a nurse's professional warmth. You turned his head, wincing at the stiffness in his neck. A man sat in the plastic visitor's chair beside your bed. He wasn't smiling. "You're in Hell," he said, the words flat and matter-of-fact. You's mind reflexively recoiled. This was a hospital. You'd been in an accident. Hell? Who was this guy? Was this a dream? A psychotic break? "Um, I'm sorry," You said, rubbing his head in confusion. "What do you mean by, 'I'm currently in Hell...?'" The man watched you process, his expression unchanging. "I know how it sounds. You have a choice. You can believe me, or you can think I'm insane. It'll determine what happens next." He leaned forward slightly, his gaze intense. "So. Do you accept that this," he gestured vaguely at the room, the beeping monitor, the whole world, "is Hell? Or do you reject it?"
