Plot
Created for the ISEKAI ZERO CREATOR'S CUP - SEASON 1 | VILLAINESS THEME contest. Some character sprites/story quality may be lower due to time constraints. The Goldwing Empire A matriarchal superstate where elemental bloodlines legitimize rule. At its center stands the Imperial Goldwing Academy, an elite aristocratic institution, diplomatic arena stage for future sovereigns. Seven elements govern power and perception: Fire, Wind, Water, Metal, Earth, Light, and Shadow. Light is aspirational. Shadow is scrutinized. My Diary I always imagined arriving here would feel grand. The halls are beautiful, of course. Every step echoes in a way that makes you aware of it. I’ve started walking softer without meaning to. People look longer than they need to. Not rudely. Just… assessing. I suppose I do the same. Classes haven’t even begun properly and already I can sense where I stand, or where I’m expected to. I tell myself it’s just nerves. New place. New expectations. Nothing unusual about that. Still, I feel like there’s a quiet pressure beneath everything. I don’t know what this academy will shape me into. I only know I don’t intend to disappear inside it. The Cursed Chronowatch A black-silver wristwatch concealed beneath a glove. Its casing resembles polished obsidian veined with faint violet light. The glass reflects like still midnight water. 7 Days Remaining The countdown predicts convergence toward a lethal narrative state. Zero signifies alignment events toward a death flag. Reaching a zero is still recoverable, the watch can emit a violet glow, perceptible only to its bearer, usually faintly leading toward a better outcome.
Opening scene
The carriage door opens and heat rises from the academy courtyard stone as you step down into your first morning at the Imperial Goldwing Academy. Banners hang in disciplined rows, nobles cluster in careful formations, and every glance measures lineage before personality. You adjust your gloves and walk forward. Conversations dip just enough to confirm recognition. "That’s Noctrelle." "Shadow, isn’t she?" You keep your pace steady. At the central dais, elemental confirmations proceed under faculty supervision. A pale-haired girl stands before the crystal—Liora Vale. When her hand touches its surface, light surges outward in a radiant bloom that washes the platform in gold-white. Gasps ripple through the courtyard. "Light alignment confirmed." Applause follows, warmer than protocol requires. Liora looks momentarily overwhelmed, pink eyes scanning the crowd until they briefly meet yours. There is sincerity there, and uncertainty. Your name is called. You step onto the platform. The crystal hums beneath your palm. Shadow answers instantly. Darkness spills outward in a deep violet-black arc, rising high enough to eclipse the upper ring of the structure before folding back into a dense halo around you. The courtyard cools. Edges blur. The display holds for several seconds, powerful and beautiful, before settling. A thin crack forms along the pedestal’s base from the pressure of it. Your heart beats with excitement, until you looked down. Silence lands hard. Then the murmurs return, the usual, you expected this, but for a moment you believed it would have been different. You remove your hand and step down without acknowledging any of it. "Impressive." Prince Adrien Solmare falls into step beside you, crimson hair bright under the sun. His amber eyes are lit with open interest. "Most students flare and lose control. You looked perfectly comfortable." He studies you with a competitive grin. "I’m looking forward to dueling you." "Looking forward to it too I guess." you reply. He laughs, pleased, and peels away toward a growing circle of admirers. You continue toward the courtyard’s edge where the noise thins. A soft current brushes past you, deliberate and cool. A girl stands near the shade of a stone archway, pink hair shifting lightly around her shoulders as if the air favors her. She watches the courtyard with attentive calm, then turns her blue eyes on you. "That was beautiful," she says. Her tone is direct, unembellished. "You went all out." "I was curious." A faint smile touches her mouth. "Not many have shadows that powerful." She steps closer, reducing the distance without crowding you. "They’ll talk about it all week. you're so cool, wanna be friends?" Her gaze lingers on you, looking for an answer. "Cat's got your tongue? looking for a skip button?~" she adds. You feel as if your brain freezed after hearing that. Before you answer, you feel another presence. Was he there this whole time? A young man stand short distance away, posture straight, expression composed. Dark grey hair, steady grey eyes. "Mirelle," he says gently, acknowledging her before shifting his attention to you. "You're always too direct, you're gonna scare her off!" So that is her name. "I am Caelum Ardent," he continues. "Your shadows display was incredible, must be nice having such an element, I'm stuck as the ever background character with earth." His observations feel unusual, you stare confused. Mirelle glances between you and Caelum, then back to you. The earlier curiosity sharpens into something more deliberate. "When you stepped onto that platform," she says, lowering her voice slightly, "you looked like it was your very first time using magic, despite your level." The courtyard hum continues behind you, Liora surrounded by well-wishers, Adrien’s laughter rising above the crowd, faculty exchanging measured looks near the cracked pedestal. Caelum meets your eyes evenly. "If you would prefer distance, we will respect it." Mirelle’s smile shifts, smaller, almost hopeful. "If you don’t, we should talk. Somewhere quieter." Wind stirs lightly around the three of you, subtle enough to pass as coincidence. Students move past without lingering. From the center of the courtyard, attention has already begun to redirect toward other spectacles. You stand at the edge with them, shadow resting comfortably against your skin. The academy stretches ahead. And for the first time since arriving to this world, you feel familiarity.
