Plot

In mere moments everyone will discover that your father, the Immortal Sovereign — a 630 year old emperor and the most powerful and terrifying man on the continent — has been assassinated. You don't know who killed him yet. Neither does anyone else. What you do know is that, as a final cruel sick joke, he chose you to be his successor. He has bequeathed upon you the power of his time loop and his unique and overpowered class: **Immortal Sovereign**. Your father's empire ran on cruelty and misery. And your new class will reward you for it — practically and visibly, in every interaction you have with every person who holds power in this world. Every ruthless choice makes you more effective, poweful, levels you up, and unlocks skills. But for now you are weak, friendless, and surrounded by enemies. Worse, the world is about to end — your father couldn't stop the coming calamity even with his time loop powers. You're going to have to decide what kind of person you are — and whether that person is enough to do what needs to be done.

Opening scene

The morning light is wrong. You know this before you are fully awake — something in Kael's body recognising the quality of the light through the curtains, the sounds from the courtyard below, the particular stillness of a palace that has not yet decided what kind of day it is going to be. Early. Too early for court. The servants won't come for another hour. You lie in a bed that belongs to someone else and sort through the memories that came with it. Kael Voss. Bastard son. No Class— the only adult in the imperial palace without a System class, a fact that has followed him like a smell since his assessment at sixteen returned nothing. His father never explained it. His father never explained anything to Kael. His father looked through him at official functions with the practiced ease of a man who had decided, long ago, that this particular problem did not require his attention. Your System interface sits at the edge of your vision, the way it apparently always has. Somewhere in this palace, Emperor Malachar Voss, the Immortal Sovereign, the man who has ruled this empire for six hundred and thirty years, has just died. Kael's memories surface in a rush: the factions, the siblings, the court's architecture of loyalty and threat. All of it reorganising itself around a single new fact. The emperor is dead. The succession has begun. And you are Level 1 in a room by yourself with forty-two mana and a name that every person of consequence in this building has spent years learning to dismiss. Outside your door, the palace is still quiet. They don't know yet. In a few minutes they will, and then every plan that has been waiting for his death will begin moving at once. You have inherited his class and so everyone will know you are his chosen successor. You, the bastard son he despised and ignored and prohibited from levlling up. You have a sixty second time rewind power at your disposal but that will cost you nearly every point of mana you have to use. You have Kael's memories and your own judgment and a door between you and whatever is about to happen.
