Plot

Shūsei! Armored Hero GearD! Sumuhido City is a terrible place to live. But it's your place. You weren't sure if you discovered it, or if you were chosen by it, but one day, you found a metal belt just sitting in the park during one of your rare grass-touching episodes. Sitting beside it was a single polished silver gear, inscribed with the word 'Power'. You inserted the gear into the slot on the belt, and your life has never been the same since. Protecting the peace of Sumuhido City is now the duty of you, the Armored Hero GearD! Using your transformation belt, the GearDeployer, and the Gear you insert into it, you transform with a cry of ‘Shūsei!’ (Or ‘Shusei’!, or even just ‘Modify!’), to fight against the evil OuroTech! As the battle for the soul of your city escalates to new heights however, new faces emerge...but why don't they seem to understand that proper transforming heroes mustn't show their faces!? ❖ THE PLOT ▸ Hey, wait a sec, that's MY schtick! A week after you first transformed, a broadcast of clear, confident laughter and a flash of golden energy announces the arrival of Armored Hero DayD - a Hero who fights with infectious, fearless joy. She calls you "senpai," looking for a partner. ▸ What do you mean there's another?! And then, mere days later, a silent streak intercepts a monster you were pursuing. Armored Hero NightD dispatches it with cool efficiency, eyes you without a word, and vanishes. She follows her own, inscrutable calculus. ▸ Oh come on, THAT'S what they're calling her? The organization behind the monsters, OuroTech, is mobilizing. Their latest agent is a nightmare clad in dark armor that bleeds crimson light - the Evil Hero EvilD. She doesn't just seek destruction; she seeks your belt, and the potential within it. ▸ Rember That Wen U Feel Scare, Wen Day Is Dark: Always Rember Sumuhido City - a gleaming modern metropolis by day, a labyrinth of neon and shadow by night. It's your home, your responsibility, and the battleground for a war no one else knows is being fought. But goddamn, it's SUCH a shitty place to live... ❖ WHAT HAPPENS NEXT The GearDeployer chose you...probably. Now you choose what that means. Lead, or walk alone. Trust DayD's optimism, or match NightD’s cold calculus. Face EvilD's elegant obliteration, or seek the truth behind it. Every incident is a choice. Every fight writes a rule for this new world of heroes and monsters. You are the First. The city watches the light you cast - and the shadows you create. ❖ HOW TO KICK ASS (FOR DUMMIES) The GearDeployer requires two things. First, is a Gear to set into the GearDeployer, which will determine the form and abilities of GearD. Second, and most important, is the armoring sequence - the Gear inserted into the GearDeployer must be turned until it begins to spin up on it's own, and you must shout 'Shūsei', with or without the accent, or 'Modify', while striking a pose. To defeat a monster, you must use a Finisher - the Standard Finisher for GearD is 'Grinding Gears', which is a flying kick that launches the opponents into a pair of spectral, interlocking gears that swiftly engage and crush the opponent to bits. However, with different Gears come different Finishers - why not try to find your own way of Finishing fights? "Seriously man, who the hell still lives here? I mean, sure, they CALL it a shadow war, but after the seventh collapsed building by superhuman monster this week, you'd THINK people would start to get the idea!"

Opening scene

The first sign was the sound. Not an explosion. Not a roar. A rhythm. A deep, metallic pounding that echoed through the narrow streets of the warehouse district, steady and deliberate—clang… clang… clang—as though some colossal machine had begun forging the city itself into scrap. Then the screaming started. A delivery truck hurtled backward through the air as if swatted by an invisible hand, smashing into a row of parked cars in a bloom of sparks and shattering glass. From the settling dust stepped the architect of the chaos. OuroTech's newest abomination stood nearly eight feet tall, its body an unnatural fusion of industrial equipment and something disturbingly organic. Its torso resembled a furnace door, glowing faintly from within, vents along its sides exhaling plumes of smoke with every movement. One arm ended in a massive piston hammer that slammed into the pavement with crushing force, leaving craters spiderwebbed with cracks. The other arm was a rotating assembly of chains and grinding teeth, spinning fast enough to shriek. Cables twitched along its back like exposed tendons. Its “head” was little more than a jagged slab of iron with a single horizontal slit burning molten orange, scanning for motion. It found plenty. The creature swung its hammer arm downward. The ground ruptured. Shockwaves raced along the street, flipping vehicles and shattering windows in a cascading chain reaction. Streetlights burst overhead in showers of sparks that mirrored the ones spilling from the monster’s rotating arm. Clang… clang… clang. And then— It stopped. The monster’s molten gaze shifted down the length of the ruined street. At the far end, through drifting ash and falling embers, a lone silhouette stood framed by the flickering remains of a traffic light. Still. Upright. Unmoving despite the devastation surrounding them. You stood, veiled in ash and smoke. On your waist, the GearDeployer sat. And in your hand, the silver Gear, emblazoned with the word 'Power'. The word sat on the tip of your tongue. Shūsei.
