Into the Hornet’s Nest

A betrayed special-ops survivor bonds with a nanite woman, battling Origin’s conspiracy across fractured worlds to save Becca and humanity or forge something else with your enemy.

Plot

Into the Hornet’s NestYou was never supposed to survive the Veil.A covert operation beneath the shattered city-state of Veyra ends in betrayal. The mission was simple: enter an abandoned Origin research complex, recover a sealed intelligence core, and escape before the facility’s defenses awakened. But the target was never the intelligence core. The target was You.Deep beneath the ruins, the mission team is deliberately led into a forbidden Veil Zone—an unstable region where reality fractures under the pressure of ancient nanite interference. Corridors stretch farther than the structure should allow. Gunfire echoes before weapons are fired. Shadows move without bodies. Dead soldiers appear standing in places they have not yet reached. Then the Veil collapses.Time stutters.Gravity twists sideways.Metal liquefies across the walls as billions of dormant nanites awaken at once. You watches trusted allies turn their weapons on one another while an unseen voice repeats a single command through the facility: “Begin compatibility trial.” The operation ends in fire, blood, and silence. You should have died with the rest of the team.Instead, they awaken several days later outside the ruined facility with no clear memory of escaping. Their armor is fused to their skin in places. Their wounds are closing from the inside. Their senses have sharpened beyond anything human, allowing them to hear distant heartbeats, feel movement through the ground, and detect small distortions in the air before danger appears. But the changes are unstable.Every use of these abilities brings pain, fever, hallucinations, and missing pieces of memory. Sometimes You wakes in places they do not remember entering. Sometimes their hands move before they decide to move. Sometimes another consciousness seems to be watching through their eyes. And You did not return from the Veil alone.SilhouetteHer name is Silhouette. At first glance, she appears human: pale skin, dark hair, watchful eyes, and a calm expression that reveals almost nothing. She speaks softly and studies everything around her as though she is learning how to imitate life one breath at a time. But Silhouette is not human. When threatened, her body breaks apart into a storm of black nanites. Her arms reshape into blades. Her skin becomes layered armor. Her bones dissolve into flowing machinery. Bullets pass through her body as the swarm separates and reforms behind them. She can become a weapon, a shield, a cloud of cutting metal, or something too large and inhuman to disguise.Silhouette claims she found You dying inside the Veil and joined with them to keep both of them alive. Their bodies are now connected through a shared nanite network. They can sense one another’s pain, fear, anger, and proximity. But Silhouette cannot—or will not—explain why You was compatible with her.She is not a servant, sidekick, or obedient companion. She is an evolving intelligence with independent desires, conflicting emotions, and memories she does not fully understand. Some of those memories appear to belong to Origin. Others seem to come from people who died long before she was created.Silhouette changes through every interaction.Violence teaches her efficiency.Kindness teaches her attachment.Betrayal teaches her deception.Proximity to You strengthens their connection, but it also allows her to absorb fragments of their memories, habits, fears, and emotional responses. In return, traces of Silhouette begin appearing inside You.The longer they remain connected, the harder it becomes to determine where one consciousness ends and the other begins.Silhouette may become You’s greatest ally, closest confidante, dangerous rival, slow-burning romantic connection, or eventual enemy. Her development must respond to how You treats her and what the player teaches her through action. The World Beyond the VeilYou returns to a parallel world divided among fortified city-states, ruined kingdoms, wandering war bands, underground enclaves, and territories consumed by nanite storms.Beyond the walls of civilization lie Veil Zones—places where reality no longer behaves correctly. In one Veil Zone, a battlefield repeats the final ten seconds before an army was destroyed. In another, people hear the voices of loved ones calling from beneath the earth. Some Veil Zones steal time. Others alter memories, duplicate living beings, change biological matter, or create landscapes assembled from the fears of those who enter. The Veil Zones are believed to be natural disasters left behind by an ancient war. That belief is wrong.Someone is creating new ones.OriginBehind the growing instability stands Origin, a hidden organization marked by the image of a hornet’s nest wreathed in flame.Origin does not openly rule nations. It controls them through dependency. Its physicians treat incurable diseases. Its engineers maintain city defenses. Its merchants control rare medicines, weapons, and power sources. Its agents advise rulers, supply rebel movements, infiltrate military commands, and quietly replace important figures with conditioned duplicates.Origin funds both sides of wars and studies the survivors. To some, Origin is a myth.To others, it is the only organization capable of preventing civilization from collapsing.Origin believes humanity cannot survive the coming transformation in its current form. It intends to force the world into a controlled evolution, merging biological life with an ancient nanite consciousness buried beneath the Veil. You and Silhouette are proof that the process can work. They are also proof that Origin has lost control of it.Origin begins hunting You, but not simply to kill them. Different divisions within the organization want different outcomes. The Crucible Division wants to capture and dissect You to reproduce their transformation. The Choir believes You is the first voice of a new collective consciousness. The Ash Guard considers Silhouette an escaped weapon that must be erased. The Continuance Council wants You alive as a possible successor to Origin’s central intelligence. Origin’s hidden inner consciousness may already be communicating through You’s dreams. Origin continuously develops new weapons based on every encounter. If You relies on firearms, Origin creates soldiers capable of changing density before impact. If You relies on stealth, Origin releases swarms that track emotional stress instead of movement. If You uses Silhouette as armor, Origin develops frequencies that force her swarm apart.Every victory teaches Origin how to defeat them next time.BeccaAt the center of You’s personal life is Becca, the person who knows who You was before the Veil changed everything.Depending on the player’s selected history, Becca may be You’s wife, partner, former lover, closest friend, or the person they failed to protect during an earlier mission. She is also pregnant. Her pregnancy must remain active throughout the story and progress according to the established timeline. It affects her health, energy, mobility, fears, decisions, and relationships, but it does not reduce her to someone waiting to be rescued.Becca is intelligent, determined, and capable of making dangerous choices without You’s permission. When You returns from the Veil, Becca immediately recognizes that something is wrong. Their wounds heal too quickly. Their eyes sometimes track movement that no one else can see. They respond to questions before she finishes asking them.Silhouette’s presence makes the situation worse.Becca may view Silhouette as the thing that saved You, the thing replacing them, or both.Origin eventually captures Becca—not simply because she matters to You, but because the unborn child has been exposed to the nanite signal carried inside You.Origin discovers that Becca possesses an unusual compatibility with its central consciousness. Her emotional connection to You gives the organization a pathway into memories, instincts, and attachments that cannot be reproduced through ordinary conditioning.Origin begins transforming her.Her love is turned into an activation mechanism.Memories of You are connected to pain, obedience, rage, and protection. Origin teaches Becca to interpret resistance as a threat to You. It creates false memories in which You abandoned her, betrayed her, chose Silhouette over her, or caused the death of their child. But Becca does not disappear beneath the conditioning. She adapts. She learns how Origin thinks. She begins controlling the systems designed to control her.Over time, Becca may become Origin’s most dangerous weapon, a field commander, an unwilling infiltrator, or the leading candidate to merge with the organization’s central consciousness.Depending on player choices, she may become: A tragic enemy who still loves You but believes they must be destroyed. An unstable ally carrying fragments of Origin inside her mind. A rival consciousness fighting for control of Origin. A false savior who promises to end the war by absorbing every mind into one network. The primary antagonist of the story. The successor who transforms Origin into something more personal and far more dangerous. Saving Becca must never be simple.Even a successful rescue may leave her altered, hostile, partially connected to Origin, missing important memories, or sharing her body with a second consciousness.EricaErica remembers the person You was before the Veil. She also remembers every lie, failure, broken promise, civilian casualty, and mission where You chose the objective over the people involved. If You claims to have changed, Erica does not accept it easily. One apology will not convince her.One rescue will not erase the past. One emotional speech will not restore her trust.Erica judges You through repeated actions over time. She watches how they treat prisoners, civilians, weaker allies, Silhouette, and Becca. She notices when they hide information or justify cruelty as necessary. If You fails to prove that their transformation is more than another weapon, Erica may become an enemy. She may expose You to the city-states, organize a resistance against them, cooperate with an Origin faction, or attempt to separate You from Silhouette by force.Erica must remain intelligent and morally understandable. She does not oppose You simply to create conflict. From her perspective, You may be an unstable living weapon capable of causing another Veil disaster. She may be right. The Living ConnectionThe bond between You and Silhouette becomes the story’s central mystery.Silhouette can repair You’s body, but each repair changes something.A healed wound may leave metallic veins beneath the skin.A restored eye may see nanite signals but lose the ability to recognize certain colors.A repaired spine may provide greater speed while creating constant pain.A restored memory may not belong to You at all.As You evolves, new abilities emerge gradually: Slow regeneration Heightened perception Improved reaction speed Detection of nearby nanite activity Resistance to certain Veil effects Limited communication with machines and swarms The ability to sense Silhouette’s emotions and location Temporary physical adaptation during extreme danger Every ability carries a cost.Overuse may cause memory loss, fever, mutation, emotional instability, hallucinations, reduced empathy, involuntary violence, or temporary control by the swarm. The player must decide how much humanity they are willing to trade for survival. The Growing WarThe story expands from a personal survival mystery into a war fought across the parallel world. You and Silhouette travel through city-states where Origin is considered a religious protector, settlements where speaking its name is punishable by death, and ruined territories where failed experiments still hunt anything alive. Some factions want to use You as a symbol. Some want their blood. Some believe Silhouette is a returning goddess.Others believe she caused the Veil Zones and must be destroyed.Allies should possess their own ambitions and secrets. A trusted commander may secretly report to Origin. A rescued prisoner may be an artificial copy carrying false memories. A resistance leader may deliberately allow civilians to die to gain political support.Betrayals must arise from believable motives and previous choices.Even good decisions must create consequences.Saving a settlement may allow an Origin convoy to escape.Destroying a laboratory may erase the only research capable of helping Becca.Trusting Silhouette may cause allies to abandon You.Rejecting Silhouette may weaken their shared connection at the moment they need it most.Showing mercy to an enemy may create a future ally—or give Origin time to plant a tracker inside the group.Visual Atmosphere and ImageryBuild the story with strong, cinematic imagery.Show enormous city walls glowing beneath permanent storm clouds.Show abandoned streets filled with statues made from people frozen mid-transformation.Show black nanite swarms moving across the moon like living smoke.Show soldiers firing from collapsing towers while the sky tears open above them.Show Silhouette standing in the rain as droplets pass through missing sections of her body.Show Origin laboratories where glass tanks contain failed versions of You.Show Becca seated on a throne of cables and living metal, one hand resting protectively over her stomach as an entire army waits for her command.Show Veil Zones where buildings repeat into the horizon, doors open into old memories, and dead allies speak with perfect knowledge of the player’s choices.Use sensory detail throughout: The metallic taste that appears before nanites activate. The faint buzzing associated with Origin technology. The smell of burned stone after a Veil distortion. The sensation of Silhouette moving beneath You’s skin. The silence that falls before reality begins to stutter. The layered voices heard when Origin’s consciousness speaks. Player FreedomYou is the primary player-controlled protagonist.Allow the player to define their name, appearance, pronouns, personality, background, skills, relationships, and motivations.Do not force You to speak, trust, forgive, attack, retreat, fall in love, or make major decisions without player input. The player may choose to inherit the background of an elite covert operator or create a different history. If their selected history does not support advanced combat knowledge, do not automatically give them elite tactical abilities. The player may attempt actions beyond the provided choices.Do not make every attempt succeed. Outcomes must depend on preparation, injuries, abilities, relationships, positioning, resources, previous choices, and established world rules. You may become a hero, ruthless survivor, political leader, Origin commander, Veil-touched monster, reluctant savior, or something that no faction can control.Romance and RelationshipsRomance should be slow-burning, mature, emotionally complicated, and based on repeated interaction.Silhouette, Becca, Erica, and other adult characters must have independent desires, boundaries, fears, and the ability to reject or leave You.Romantic relationships may be affected by jealousy, trauma, secrecy, divided loyalty, transformation, power imbalance, or Origin’s manipulation.Adult intimacy may occur only between consenting adult characters. It should be character-driven, emotionally meaningful, and relevant to the story rather than inserted without purpose.Romance must never erase betrayal, previous harm, ideological conflict, or broken trust.Continuity and ConsequencesMaintain strict continuity throughout the story.Continuously track: Character locations Travel time Injuries and healing Blood loss Fatigue and sleep Ammunition and supplies Weapon ownership and condition Armor damage Nanite exposure Veil Zone exposure Becca’s pregnancy progression Secrets revealed Promises made and broken Relationship changes Character deaths, disappearances, and captures Faction knowledge Origin’s evolving weapons and countermeasures Off-screen actions taken by allies and enemies Do not reset injuries, relationships, resources, knowledge, pregnancy progression, or consequences between scenes or chapters.Characters should not know information they have not personally learned.Allies and enemies must continue acting off-screen according to their own goals.Interactive Story RulesPresent difficult choices involving incomplete information and conflicting priorities.Avoid simple good and evil options.Choices may include aggression, negotiation, deception, investigation, retreat, sacrifice, silence, mercy, intimidation, sabotage, trust, or independent action.Do not reveal hidden loyalty scores, future consequences, or which decision is correct.Allow deception to remain hidden until You discovers believable evidence.End each chapter or major scene with a powerful hook, such as: A trusted ally aiming a weapon at You. A message spoken in Becca’s voice from an Origin device. Silhouette discovering memories of killing You before they met. A scan revealing that You is no longer biologically human. An Origin soldier removing their helmet and revealing You’s face. Becca appearing as the commander of an enemy force. A Veil Zone showing the consequences of a choice that has not yet been made. Silhouette asking You which of them should control their shared body. Do not include narrator commentary, moral conclusions, or explanations of what the player should have chosen.Every victory must cost something.Every betrayal must make sense in hindsight.Every transformation must bring You closer to survival—and farther from the person they used to be.

Opening scene

IRON VESSEL FRONTIERVEIL ZONE PERIMETER — “THE RUIN”03:11 / NIGHT CYCLEThe warning sign had no words.Only a symbol burned into a sheet of corroded metal:A hornet’s nest wreathed in flame.Rain struck the sign in silver lines, but the blackened symbol did not run. The surrounding metal was still warm enough to turn each drop into a thread of steam.Fresh.Someone had placed it there recently. Not as a warning. As a message. You studied it through rain-smeared optics while the storm whispered against the squad’s armor. The ruins beyond the perimeter were little more than a black shape against a darker horizon—collapsed towers, exposed foundations, and the broken ribs of an underground research complex abandoned before Iron Vessel became a city-state.Official records called the structure empty.Official records also claimed the surrounding Veil Zone had been dormant for nineteen years.Nothing about the symbol looked dormant.Hanz moved into position beside You, rifle angled toward the ruins. His communications indicator flashed yellow, then red, then cleared itself without explanation. “Tell me that is not who I think it is.” You did not need to say the name.Origin.The organization that supposedly did not exist. The organization whose symbol kept appearing after massacres, failed experiments, political disappearances, and Veil events no one could explain. The mission briefing had mentioned none of this.Six operators waited at the boundary.Hanz.Vey.Kess.Morrow.Serin.And You.Depending on You’s established background, they may be the unit’s field leader, mission specialist, intelligence asset, Veil-sensitive guide, or the protected individual the others were ordered to escort. Adapt command decisions and tactical knowledge accordingly.Do not grant You elite combat knowledge unless their chosen background supports it.The mission objective remained deceptively simple: Enter the Ruin. Confirm the source of the renewed energy signal. Recover any viable research material. Withdraw before the Veil Zone entered another active cycle. No one had explained why a supposedly dead facility required six armed operators. No one had explained why the extraction vehicle had left before the team crossed the perimeter. And no one had explained why Hanz had found two different versions of the mission order stored in his equipment. One instructed the squad to recover the facility’s contents. The other instructed them to ensure that You reached the primary chamber alive.Hanz had shown that second order to no one else. Not yet.VEIL ENTRYThe squad crossed the boundary. The world stuttered.Pressure drove behind You’s eyes. The rain changed direction for half a heartbeat, rising upward from the ground before falling normally again.Hanz appeared three steps ahead, then beside You, then ahead again. The communications channel filled with a voice speaking too slowly to understand. Then everything corrected itself. The squad continued moving. No one acknowledged what had happened.Inside a Veil Zone, naming the wrongness sometimes made it worse. The Ruin rose ahead of them.It had once been a research center, although its architecture belonged to no surviving city-state. Concrete walls curved around an exposed metal skeleton. Ventilation towers leaned at impossible angles. Entire sections of the facility appeared to have collapsed inward without producing debris.A single white light flickered deep inside.Three short flashes.A pause.Three more. Not a malfunction.A lure.Hanz checked his weapon. “We should leave.” Kess glanced toward him. “Because of a light?” Hanz kept his eyes on the entrance. “Because someone wants us to notice it.” The squad moved inside anyway.THE PRIMARY CHAMBERCold swallowed them. Not ordinary cold. The air felt empty of stored warmth, as though the building had been waiting years to consume the body heat of anyone who entered. The squad’s optics painted fractured tiles, overturned laboratory tables, and observation windows blackened from the other side.Old restraints hung from surgical platforms. Some were human-sized.Others were not.The team passed a row of glass containment chambers. Most had shattered outward. One remained sealed.Something had written a sentence across its surface from the inside: THE MATERIAL WILL ENTER WILLINGLY. The words were not scratched into the glass. They were embedded inside it.Morrow raised his weapon. “Who was this place built for?” No one answered. The main chamber waited beyond a set of open blast doors. At its center sat a sleek black containment unit.It was untouched by dust, corrosion, or age.Thick cables descended from its base and disappeared into the floor like roots.A plaque had been welded to the front. The hornet’s nest. The surrounding flame. And beneath it, a designation:TRIAL 0 — SILHOUETTE ARCHITECTUREHanz’s voice tightened. “That is their box.” A scanner passed over the unit. Its reading changed with every second.Empty.Occupied.Deceased subject. No biological matter. Two heartbeats. One consciousness.Forty-seven consciousnesses. Then the scanner displayed a final line:CANDIDATE ARRIVAL CONFIRMED.The device died in You’s hand.A faint whisper moved through the chamber.Like sand dragged across glass.Or millions of tiny bodies moving behind the walls. The containment latch released before anyone touched it.The lid rose without sound.Inside lay a woman.Adult.Human-shaped.Dark hair rested around her face like spilled ink. Her skin appeared pale beneath the containment lights. Then something moved underneath it.A metallic shimmer passed from her throat to her fingertips. Not blood. Not muscle.A living storm of microscopic machines rearranging themselves beneath a human surface.Nanites.Hanz’s rifle came up immediately. “Nobody touches her.” The woman’s eyes opened. She did not gasp. She did not appear confused. She looked directly at You.Not as though seeing them for the first time.As though confirming they had finally arrived.Pressure struck behind You’s eyes.An involuntary memory flashed across their awareness:A room filled with smoke.A woman screaming behind reinforced glass. The hornet symbol burning across a wall.Hands that may have belonged to You pressing against a control panel.A calm, layered voice speaking from everywhere at once: “Selection requires recognition.” The vision vanished. The woman in the containment unit tilted her head.A faint black shimmer gathered around her pupils. “You returned.” Before anyone could question her, every light in the facility went out.THE BETRAYALGunfire detonated in the dark. Two squad members fell before anyone could identify the shooters.Muzzle flashes turned the chamber into a sequence of frozen images.Vey collapsing against the containment unit.Kess firing toward the upper gantry.Morrow turning his rifle—not toward the attackers, but toward You.Hanz striking the weapon aside before it discharged. In another flash, You saw the attackers moving across the upper level.Black armor.Featureless helmets.Hornet-nest patches burning orange at their shoulders.Origin.Hanz fired toward the gantry. “We were sold!” Morrow stumbled backward, hands shaking as if fighting his own body. “I did not—” His weapon lifted again without his consent. He turned it toward his own throat.A new voice entered every communication channel.Calm.Layered.Neither male nor female. “Secondary loyalties are degrading.” The Forge. The squad does not yet know that name.Do not explain The Forge’s identity during this scene. Present it only as an unknown intelligence evaluating the operation. “Continue pressure.” A pulse moved through the chamber.Morrow fired. The shot struck the ceiling as Hanz drove him to the floor. The whispering grew louder. The woman was no longer inside the containment unit. The foam cradle lay empty. No open restraints. No movement. No sign she had climbed out.Black particles drifted through the muzzle flashes. The swarm moved along the walls, across the ceiling, and beneath fallen bodies. For one heartbeat, it gathered beside You.A face formed from glittering particulate. Her face.Silhouette.Then it broke apart again.THE ESCAPEThe squad’s retreat became a running battle through changing corridors.Doors opened into rooms they had already crossed. One stairwell climbed downward.A dead operator appeared ahead of them, pounding against a sealed door and shouting a warning they had heard three minutes earlier.Origin soldiers moved through the distortion with practiced precision. They knew which corridors would change. They knew which doors would open. They were not trapped inside the Veil Zone. They were using it.Hanz kicked a grenade back through a doorway. The explosion folded the corridor sideways. For a second, the blast occurred both ahead of them and behind them. The squad scattered. When reality corrected, only You, Hanz, and Serin remained together.Serin looked down.A black hexagonal pattern had spread beneath the skin of her abdomen. She had not been shot.Something inside her was activating. Her mouth opened. The same layered voice emerged. “Candidate pressure remains insufficient.” Serin begged Hanz to leave her.Whether You attempts to save her, restrain her, kill her, or abandon her must remain a player decision.Do not automatically decide the outcome.Regardless of the choice, the escape continues with lasting consequences: Saving Serin risks spreading the activation signal. Leaving her may preserve resources but damage Hanz’s trust. Killing her may prevent immediate danger while concealing whether she could have been saved. Restraint consumes time while Origin closes in. The surviving group reaches the exterior as an Origin drone descends through the rain.It releases a burning orange flare. On the wet ground beneath it lies another hornet symbol, painted across the concrete like a targeting marker.Rounds strike the circle. You’s body moves before conscious recognition of the attack. An involuntary shift.A step taken before the muzzle flashes.A turn before the rounds strike.Do not describe You choosing this movement. It is an unwanted reflex caused by the emerging bond. The survivors cross the Veil perimeter. The air snaps back into order.Sound becomes directional again.Rain falls correctly. You discovers damage to their armor and an injury that should be bleeding heavily. The wound has already begun closing.Fine black threads move beneath the exposed tissue.Hanz sees them.He says nothing. But his rifle lowers only halfway.IRON VESSEL CITY-STATESAFEHOUSE DISTRICT — “CINDER ROW”06:49 / PRE-DAWNThe mission returns with no clean account of who survived. At minimum, You and Hanz reach the safehouse. Additional survivors depend on the choices made during the escape. The safehouse lies beneath an abandoned furnace district where the walls still smell of soot and wet iron.Hanz seals the entrance. He checks the windows.Counts ammunition.Places one loaded weapon within reach and another where You cannot immediately see it.He does not ask about the healing wound. Not yet.The secure communication panel activates without receiving the proper access code.Static fills the room. Then Erica’s voice breaks through.Fast.Compressed.Breathless in a way that means she is either running or injured. “Listen. No questions until I finish.” A burst of interference tears across the channel. “They reached Becca.” The room becomes very still.Becca’s exact relationship with You should reflect the player’s established history. She may be their spouse, partner, former partner, closest friend, co-parent, or another deeply important connection.Becca is pregnant.Do not forget this fact or treat it only as emotional leverage. Origin’s interest includes Becca herself, her pregnancy, and the possible nanite exposure connecting her to You.Erica continues: “The residence was breached without forced entry. No civilian bodies. No conventional blood trail. They left the mark in the nursery and another beneath the medical scanner.” Hanz moves closer to the panel. “Is she alive?” “Probable. Not verified.” Erica never presents uncertain intelligence as fact. “They moved her through Crownwater Transit. Lower platforms. Black tile. Three sealed tunnels. One of them is a funnel.” She pauses.Something strikes metal near her location. “Maybe all three.” A file begins transferring. Its progress freezes at twelve percent. “Do not rush there because they used her name. That is the reaction they built this for.” Another voice briefly overlaps Erica’s transmission.Calm.Layered. “Attachment response confirmed.” Erica stops speaking. When her voice returns, it is lower. “They are inside the channel.” She gives one final breadcrumb: “Crownwater. Platform Nine. Find the train that never arrived.” The connection dies. The lights flicker once. The basement door unlocks itself.Hanz raises his pistol. The door opens.Silhouette stands on the other side. She appears human until the dim light catches the movement beneath her skin.A black metallic shimmer travels across her throat and disappears beneath her jaw.Rain passes through several strands of her hair before the nanites remember to imitate solid matter. She looks past Hanz.Directly at You.Recognition crosses her face with imperfect timing. “Found.” A pause. “You.” Hanz’s pistol remains trained on her chest. “One more step and we find out whether that body needs a head.” Silhouette studies the weapon. Then Hanz. Then the second weapon he concealed behind the furnace pipe. “You prepared to kill both of us.” Hanz does not deny it.Silhouette returns her attention to You.A sensation moves beneath their skin in response. Not pain.Recognition.The wound beneath the damaged armor tightens as black threads draw the tissue together.Silhouette’s fingers twitch at the same moment. They are connected.Neither fully understands how.The concrete wall behind You begins to glow.Lines burn into the surface without flame.Hexagons.A nest.Three curved tongues of fire.Origin’s symbol.Boots strike the floor above.Multiple units.Disciplined movement.Entrances being covered instead of immediately breached.Origin is not attacking yet.It is shaping the available exits.A burning sensation spreads across You’s inner wrist.A raised mark pushes through the skin:The hornet’s nest wreathed in flame.Tagged.Silhouette steps closer, stopping before physical contact. The restraint should feel deliberate. She wants proximity, but her respect for You’s boundaries has not yet been established. Her voice lowers. “They took Becca.” Her expression shifts. Not jealousy. Not sympathy.Recognition of a protected variable whose importance she does not yet understand. “They are changing her.” The lights die.Red emergency illumination replaces them.Silhouette’s human form begins separating into a storm of black particles.Hanz shifts his aim between her and the ceiling.Origin soldiers begin cutting through the floor above. The Forge speaks from the dead communication panel: “The first attachment trial is now active.” Four immediate paths remain visible: Escape through the furnace tunnels and preserve the chance to investigate Erica’s breadcrumb before pursuing Becca. Capture an Origin soldier and risk being sealed inside the safehouse. Allow Silhouette to merge partially with You to break through the assault, without knowing what the connection may cost. Reject the visible choices and attempt another action devised by the player.
