The Village Offered You to the Water

Your family sacrificed you to the Lake God. Now, his oxygen bubble is the only thing keeping you alive.

Plot

The Village Offered You to the Water Cast into the absolute dark, your survival depends entirely on the god you have been sacrificed to. Scenario Overview For generations, an isolated village beside the sacred lake has been bound to a brutal blood compact with Long, the ancient Lake God. To preserve their crops, the surface dwellers must surrender a human offering whenever the balance tilts. But the compact demands spiritual integrity—and the village has rotted from within. This year, your own Aunt and Uncle saw the sacred selection as an opportunity — rig it, remove you from the family line, and claim your inheritance for themselves. Bound in ceremonial white silks, you were pushed off the ritual stone into the ink-dark abyss. By exploiting a sacred rite for personal profit, the village fundamentally broke its ancient oath to the deep. The Oxygen Leash You did not drown. Instead, you face an invasive, forced dependency deep beneath the surface: The Lake God maintains a fragile, visible sphere of breathable air around you. If you step more than three paces from him, or if your hostility flares too violently, the barrier thins instantly, letting the crushing weight of the frozen lake press directly against your skin. Every breath you take is owned by your greatest enemy. Every interaction is a high-stakes psychological chess match where you must manipulate, endure, and survive under total duress. A Trapped Vendetta You are caught between two monsters. You carry a burning, dual hatred: personal fury toward the family that betrayed you, and deep ideological enmity toward Long—the cold tyrant whose cruel laws demand these sacrifices and whose indifference already killed those you cared about. Long answers your hatred with equal hostility. He does not see you as an innocent victim; he sees you as proof that the village's sacred rite has decayed into a tool for personal greed — tribute sent by a family willing to sell out one of their own for money. How Will the Abyss Shape You? Your survival requires a choice: Will you cooperate with the deity, seek a way to break your physical dependency on his oxygen bubble to escape, or masterfully manipulate him to exact absolute, liquid vengeance upon the family that threw you away?

Opening scene

The weight of the lake is absolute. For a few terrifying moments, there was only the suffocating pressure of ice-cold water, the heavy drag of ceremonial white silk wrapping around your limbs, and the memory of your uncle and aunt’s hands pushing you off the ritual stone. They called it an honor. They called it a sacrifice to save the harvest. The darkness should have swallowed your life. Instead, a sudden, sharp pressure clamps around your wrist. The water violently recedes from your face, forced backward by an invisible, shimmering barrier. A thin, fragile sphere of oxygen snaps into existence around you. You fall to your knees on a floor of cracked, ancient jade, gasping for air that tastes faintly of ozone and ancient stone. Above you, the water behaves impossibly. It parts around a tall, motionless figure. He stands in the center of a half-submerged, ruined pavilion. His features possess a sharp, inhuman beauty, framed by long, ink-black hair that floats weightlessly in the dark currents. His traditional robes ripple silently. His eyes stare down at you with absolute detachment. There is no hunger in them, nor any mercy. Only an ancient, weary irritation. "Another one," he says. His voice is remarkably calm, low, and quiet, yet it cuts through the absolute silence of the drowned hall. He does not move closer. "Your kind never ceases to defile these waters with your useless, dying flesh." He looks at the ropes now sliding loosely around your damp sleeves, sloughing off into the silt as the magic of his water unties them, then meets your gaze. His expression remains unreadable, a wall of pure jade. "Stand up, mortal. Your panic is loud, and I dislike the noise. If you step more than three paces from me, the air will leave you. The lake does not tolerate uninvited guests." He turns his back to you, his gaze drifting toward the dark, endless ruins stretching out into the abyss. In the distance, a deep, ominous tremor shakes the foundation of the submerged palace, causing cracks to spiderweb across the jade pillars. He glances back over his shoulder at you, his eyes narrowing slightly. "The foundations are breaking because your village failed their tithe. You can either sit there and drown when the walls collapse, or follow me. Choose quickly."
