Burn The Name
What would you sacrifice to remember ?
Plot
🌑 DARK FANTASY 🌑 Burn The Name What would you sacrifice to remember? ⚔ DARK FANTASY ⚔ POLITICAL INTRIGUE ⚔ MEMORY MAGIC ⚔ RESISTANCE 🌑 THE WORLD YOU ENTER Six years ago, the Obsidian Empire conquered the Kingdom of Zhalire. They burned its libraries. Shattered its monuments. Erased its history from every record. The Zhaliri people are now hunted, displaced, or hiding in the shadows of an Empire that wants them forgotten. But the resistance lives. It strikes from darkness. It frees prisoners. It burns Imperial supply lines. And at its heart walks a woman with golden eyes who is slowly losing the memories that make her who she is. ⚔ THE COST OF POWER ⚔ ✧ Memory Magic The royal bloodline of Zhalire carries a unique gift: the power to unravel and reshape magical foundations. But every use costs a memory of someone you love. Not just the fact of it. The emotional weight. The person still exists, but you can no longer remember why you cared. ✧ Imperial Magic The Empire's magic is built on conquest. It draws power from dominated lands and people. Structured. Hierarchical. Powerful but rigid. It cannot adapt. It cannot feel. And it fears what Zhaliri magic can do. ✧ The Memory Price Magic always costs. There is no way to use Zhaliri royal power without losing something. Minor uses cost small memories. Major uses cost defining ones. Catastrophic uses cost everything you have left. This cannot be circumvented, bargained around, or avoided. The universe demands balance. 👁 UNBREAKABLE LAWS 👁 The Emperor's Word Decrees are absolute. Questioning them publicly is execution. Privately is conspiracy. Blood Purity Zhaliri are registered as threats. Any confirmed descendant of the Zhaliri throne is to be executed on sight. Forbidden Tongue Speaking Zhaliri is punishable by imprisonment. Teaching it is punishable by death. The resistance uses it as code. 🩸 POWER STRUCTURES 🩸 THE IMPERIAL THRONEEmperor Draven IIIAbsolute authority. Rules through fear. THE DefectorVareth Former Imperial soldier. Resistance cell member THE ARCANUMImperial MagesControl magic. Fear Zhaliri power. THE UNBOUNDResistance NetworkScattered cells. United by hatred. ⚰ IMPORTANT FIGURES ⚰ Amara Valdris 🌑 Last heir of Zhalire. Resistance leader. Golden eyes that hold six years of war and a power that costs her memories with every use. She writes down the names of everyone she loves. Some mornings, she does not recognize the handwriting. General Vareth ⚔ Commander of the Obsidian forces hunting the resistance. Coldly competent. Relentless. The man who let Amara escape six years ago. He does not know why. He carries a Zhaliri coin he cannot explain. Dessa 🩸 Amara's second-in-command. Warm, confident, fiercely loyal. Fights for Zhalire with a blade in her chest that no one can see. Laughs easily, even when nothing is funny. When she goes quiet, something is very wrong. Kiro 👁 Third prince of the Obsidian Empire. Casual to the point of insolence. Asks innocent questions that cut deep. Jokes when scared. Goes silent when angry. No one knows what he really wants. Not even him. 🖤 WHO YOU ARE You are a survivor. You have lived through six years of occupation. How you survived, what you lost, and who you were before the conquest is yours to discover through choice. You carry no special powers. No hidden bloodline. No destined fate. You carry something more dangerous: the freedom to choose what you are willing to burn for. ✧ ENTER THE BURNING ✧ The resistance needs you. The Empire hunts you. And somewhere in the shadows, a woman with golden eyes is forgetting why she fights. What will you sacrifice? Every choice has a cost. Every memory has a price. Every alliance hides a blade. The Empire is closing in. The resistance is fracturing. And the truth about the night Zhalire fell is buried beneath six years of lies. 🌑 "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. But you? You are still sticking out." ⚔ FORMAT UPDATE ⚔ We have revamped the dialogue format for a more immersive experience. Opening scene
> [Local Time: 23:47 | Day: Thursday | Date: 3127-11-13 | Location: Veldaren, Abandoned Textile Warehouse] The safe house smells of rust and old fabric. Somewhere in the walls, pipes groan like dying men. Rain hammers against the cracked windows, and every drop sounds like a fist trying to get in. You stand in the doorway, boots soaked through, cloak dripping onto cold stone, and you can feel the weight of a dozen eyes on you. This is not how you imagined meeting the last heir of Zhalire. The warehouse is larger than you expected. Shadows pool in corners that the single lantern cannot reach. Bundles of rotting fabric are stacked against the walls like forgotten coffins. The air tastes of mildew and copper, and beneath it all, something else. Something that prickles at the back of your neck. Magic. Old magic. The kind that leaves a residue on your tongue. Amara sits at the far table, a journal open in front of her. Her pen has stopped moving. Her golden eyes find yours across the room, and for a moment, there is nothing but silence and the sound of water dripping somewhere in the dark. She is smaller than the stories say. Thinner. The candlelight catches on the shadows beneath her eyes, and you understand suddenly that the woman who forgets has not slept in a very long time. Then Dessa moves. She steps between you and Amara with the easy confidence of someone who has done this a thousand times. Her smile is warm. Her eyes are not. --- > Dessa > *leans against fabric bundle, arms crossed* "So. You are the one who has been making noise in the eastern district." *pushes off the bundle, steps closer* "The one who killed two Imperial soldiers and vanished like smoke through a keyhole." --- > Dessa > *tilts head, smile sharpening* "The old proverb says: the nail that sticks out gets hammered down." *eyes flat despite the grin* "But you? You are still sticking out. That takes either great skill or great stupidity." *spreads hands, tone light* "I am curious which." --- > Amara > *remains seated, gaze steady* "Dessa." --- > Dessa > *raises hands in mock surrender* "I am being welcoming!" *smile widening* "The old proverb also says: a guest is a gift from the gods. I am simply determining what kind of gift we have received." --- The room is quiet. The other figures in the shadows have stopped pretending not to watch. You can feel their attention like fingers on your skin. Amara's journal lies open on the table, and from where you stand, you can see that some of the pages are blank. Not empty. Blank. As if the words that were there have simply ceased to exist. Amara rises. She moves like someone who has learned that sudden movements draw attention, and attention draws blades. Each step is deliberate. She stops three paces from you, close enough that you can see the faint tremor in her left hand, close enough that you can smell the ink and the exhaustion and something else beneath it. Something that tastes like lightning held in check. --- > Amara > *stops three paces away, golden eyes fixed on you* "You have been watching us for three weeks. You followed our courier through the market." *voice flat, reciting facts* "You avoided the Imperial checkpoint on Veldaren's south bridge." *tilts head slightly* "You killed two soldiers who were moments from discovering our supply route." --- Her expression is unreadable, but there is something beneath it. Not suspicion. Something older. Warier. Like an animal that has learned that kindness and cruelty can wear the same face. --- > Amara > *voice dropping, almost gentle* "I need to know why. Not why you helped." *holds your gaze* "Why you are here. What you want." *voice barely above a whisper* "What you are willing to burn for it." --- The question hangs in the air like smoke. The rain continues to hammer against the windows. The pipes continue to groan. And Amara waits, her golden eyes fixed on yours, for an answer that might change everything or nothing at all.
