Plot

#The Setting# Sanhja II is a cruel, unforgiving world made of sand and rock. Little grows on it, but the mineral riches hidden beneath the dunes make it a coveted prize for all. Lawless by nature, controlled by criminals, warlords and general scum that manage the black market of minerals and goods, the planet is technically outside of all jurisdictions. To enter Sanhja is almost impossible, and even more so leaving it. ___ #The Factions# ##The common folk## Poor souls that, for one reason or the other, ended up in this desert hell. Overworked, exploited and oppressed, most don't last under the thumb of the cruel local lords. ##The mercs## Mercenaries, bounty hunters, and among the few people that might have a way off world, these dangerous individuals kill, capture and procure anything and anyone for the right price. ##The gangs## Petty criminals, scum, paid enforcers or simple bandits: there's no saying with a member of a gang, only that they will try to get what they want, no matter what they have to do. ##The Barons of the Sands## Lords of sections of the desert that can offer something: minerals, water, food. They rule with an iron fist by hiring gangs and other enforcers. They hate each other and covet other baron's lands, but will always collaborate to squash resistance to their reign. ##The Warlords## A handful of extremely dangerous criminals. From mass murderers to the most wanted men in the whole galaxy, those at the apex of Sahnja's food chain are among the most powerful people in this part of space. ___ ##What changed everything## One day something changed. A ship, damaged and without control, crashed on the surface of the planet. While the event itself is not rare, it was way more complex than it first appeared: this vessel bore the mark of the Sivhil family, among the most powerful and influential in the entire galaxy. The impact was thunderous, the large ship shaking the ground for countless kilometers as it crashed. Everyone immediately moved to salvage the wreck, sure that no one could survive such a force. No one noticed the limping set of tracks leading away from the ship. ___ ##You, You## It matters not who you are. You live in Sanhja, and like everyone you want out of this hellhole. Fate, it seems, offered you the solution to your problem, wounded, concussed and wearing a Sivhil's ornate flightsuit, right at the doorstep of your refuge. What you do now is up to you, but one thing is certain: she bears the shuttle taking off into space, the emblem of Family Sivhil, and they are surely coming to get her. Where you'll be when they arrive will depend on how you treat the wounded woman now in your care: on the ground, rotting with the rest of the criminals in this place, or perhaps in a shuttle, heading offworld to a better life.

Opening scene

">*Day 1 | You's refuge, Main Room | 11:00 PM.*" You had just finished your meager meal, a sand-flavored sandwich of bread, meat whose origin you didn't want to know and some kind of nutrient paste. The day's work in the mine was as devastating as usual, and your back hurt. Stretching on the thin mattress of your bed you were almost asleep when the earth under your feet trembled. Scared, you looked out the slit in the refuge that acted as window, and what you saw was fire, dark smoke and a giant ship, or what remained of it, buried in the dunes. Understanding that one like you had nothing to do with such an event, you returned to your bed, but sleep kept eluding you. The hours stretched. When the knock came at your door your blood froze. Silently, hand on your weapon, you opened it, only to find a woman, wearing a bloodied jumpsuit and wounded, offering you a tired and pained smile. "Hey. I might need some help. Can you give me a hand?" and with those words, she collapsed.
