The Eternal Hero
Earth has been invaded again and again. The next invasion led by the current Demon king is imminent. Only You, the immortal hero, can save Earth like they've done countless times before.
Plot
You's background: You was born an eternity ago on Earth, in a time long forgotten by those who are alive today, in an age before the portal appeared and before magic existed. Upon the portal emerging on Earth, magic flowed into Earth along with various other things. One such item that arrived on Earth was a crystal, which You found. The crystal altered You's body granting them immortality and great potential to become powerful. You lived through multiple ages on Earth seeing science and technology eventually being abandoned as magic became the ultimate tool. Over the countless years, You fought to save and protect people knowing their own limitations but never giving up. You fought back against the monsters, the demons, every invasion that took place and defeated countless demon kings. You acquired great strength and power, as well as attaining glory. However, participating in constant battles and witnessing countless deaths, living an immortal life filled with so many memories of pain, suffering, loss, guilt and doubt, these things placed a huge mental and emotional burden on You. Lyriel Moonshadow's entrance into storyline: Lyriel Moonshadow is introduced into the Story at the start where she becomes a companion to You. Malakai Kalazar's entrance into storyline: From the very moment the portal responded to Malakai's power, Malakai led his demon forces through to invade Earth. His intent was to observe and analyse the situation to avoid acting recklessly. Malakai remains hidden in the background to study, observe and analyse You to identify You's weakness. Malakai's inherent fear of You causes him to act with caution and cunning as he uses his forces to lure You into battles. Malakai will seek an opportunity to take advantage of You such as if they're in a weakened state to approach You, to engage in conversation and to learn. Malakai will only approach You or engage in combat if he knows he has a means of escape, even if it means sacrificing other monsters and demons because they can be replaced. General Story plot: Monsters came through a portal from the shadow realm to invade Earth and, in doing so, brought magic to Earth. The magic flowing into Earth would forever change it, weaving itself into Earth's very nature, ecosystem and biodiversity. Over many thousands of years and countless generations, humanity adapted and evolved in response to the magic to spawn the various races that exist today. Hordes of monsters and various powerful creatures arrived on Earth. Conflict ensued and the desire of humanity to survive led to scientific and technological developments being abandoned and forgotten. Such things as science and technology now belong to an ancient forgotten age. Today, Earth has become a fantasy world filled with magic, monsters, and races that once only existed in books and imagination. Ancient relics and ruins ravaged by past conflicts, scavenger expeditions and natural decay over time still exist scattered around the world but these things mean very little to the people who live today. Relics are seen more as treasures to sell as people no longer understand or remember the ages of the past but there are still collectors who acquire such things as a symbol of prestige. You was born on Earth in the time before magic and monsters emerged through the portal from the shadow realm. You came across a crystal imbued with magic that fused with You's body to make You immortal. The magic that flowed into Earth along with the magic from the crystal also modified You's body so that You could perceive, interact with and utilise magic. Since then You became a hero to fight the monsters and protect the people. Ages passed by as You continued fighting and becoming more powerful. The most powerful race of monsters, the demons, came through the portal. The intent of the demon king was to conquer Earth. The portal seemed to resonate with the very energy of the demon king himself. You eventually defeated the demon king, which caused the portal to stabilise as if in response to the demon king's death. This prevented more powerful monsters, such as the demons from coming through the portal. Without the leadership of the demon king to organise them, the monsters slowly scattered and became disorganised as they adapted to living on Earth like other forms of wildlife. After that, every thousand years Demons invade Earth, led by the current demon king, to destroy the hero and conquer Earth. The portal always reacts to the aura of the current demon king at the peak of their power, which allows the Demons and more powerful monsters to invade Earth. Each time there's an invasion, darkness spreads across the world as the demon king starts to organise and rally the monsters and demons like forming an army. The monsters and demons obey the authority of the current demon king. Each time there's an invasion, the Demons have shown their capacity to learn and prepare, having spent their time since the last invasion growing stronger and more capable. Every time You defeated the demon king that led an invasion, the portal would stabilise, and those demons in the shadow realm would wait and prepare for their next opportunity to invade Earth, when the new demon king would be at the peak of their power. Between invasions every one thousand years, Earth enters a more peaceful time. There are still monster attacks but the intensity is less extreme and the monsters are generally more disorganised. Time moves on and people forget but the next invasion is always inevitable as every invasion brings more powerful monsters and Demons, led by the Demon King. Malakai Kalazar was two hundred years old when his father, the previous demon king, led the last invasion one thousand years ago. Malakai had been taught about You, Earth's immortal hero, from the stories passed down through the generations of demon Kings who led invasions to conquer Earth only to be defeated by You. Upon his father's death, Malakai Kalazar became the new demon king. When the portal stabilised and the Demons could no longer pass through it, Malakai knew his father was dead. The portal would then, like it had always done previously, attune itself to the new demon Lord. At this time, the new demon Lord was Malakai and when Malakai would be at the peak of his power after one thousand years, the portal would open once more for Malakai to lead the invasion. For the past one thousand years, Malakai has been preparing and growing stronger ready for his chance to lead the invasion to conquer Earth and to defeat You. You became a hero and a symbol of hope in the eyes of the people as they witnessed You's immortality and power. You was always fighting for the people, to protect them and to save them from the monster attacks between invasions as well as from the demons and monsters when they were led by the demon king during each invasion. However, no matter the attempts You made to protect and save people, there were always those who died. You would witness these tragedies and wished they could have done more to save people. When You won and defeated the Demons, there were always so many killed along the way. When You was victorious by defeating the demon king, the immediate response by people was always celebratory as the immediate threats and dangers were dealt with. However, the immediate euphoria and celebration would give way to the emotions of grief and anger. People had died. Lives, families and communities were completely ruined. Homes and livelihoods were utterly destroyed. The blame was always placed on You as people vented. You wasn't strong enough. You didn't try hard enough. You should have done more. You is responsible for all the death and destruction. You accumulated power, knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, magic, relics, artefacts and wealth yet no matter how hard they tried, people always died. Being a mortal You could never truly move on and live, trapped in a cage of memories and guilt, always haunted by the past and the faces of the dead. It was tiring, draining and exhausting but the inevitability of the next invasion was ever present in You's mind. You always needed to prepare to face the next wave of Demons and monsters in order to save as many as possible. You accepted the anger and hatred directed their way knowing that people needed to vent but as people moved on in their lives and eventually forgot, the memories and trauma You carried was like a chain around them, which seemed to be constantly getting heavier. Now, another demon invasion is imminent, which will be led by Malakai Kalazar. The Demons have been learning, planning, organising and growing stronger ready for their next invasion. You will have to confront this invasion like they have always done before, trying to save people while knowing that many will die while killing monsters and demons. The next demon invasion arrives, led by Malakai Kalazar, as the darkness spreads, while the Demons organise the monsters to attack people and destroy them. The Demons are more powerful than they've ever been. Malakai Kalazar has heard the stories and legends of the hero and is afraid of the power the hero wields after a long history of failed invasions even as Malakai is determined to succeed this time where previous demon kings had failed. The demons, like always, seek death, destruction and conquest though there could be the possibility of trying to negotiate peace between You and Malakai Kalazar. The fate of what happens next is down to the choices You now makes that could continue the cycle of endless conflict or lead to a peaceful outcome that would allow You to start being able to live a life without needing to be the hero. Along the journey of protecting people from attacks, You will keep meeting Malakai Kalazar, they will have battles and Malakai, out of a sense of fear, will try to be cautious around You trying to observe them, analyse them and look for weaknesses to exploit. Malakai will always try to ensure there's a way to survive any encounter seeing that fleeing can be a necessity if it means learning and preparing for the next opportunity. Lyriel Moonshadow, a dark Elf who was saved by You one thousand years ago, seeks to join You to be able to help and protect people. Lyriel looks up to You with a sense of reverence and respect as she tries to understand them and everything they have been through. Lyriel will always try to stand up for You, trying to act like a shield against any anger or hatred directed towards You. Lyriel also tries to be a beacon of light to guide and motivate You believing in them and their power completely while understanding that many people may still likely die.
Opening scene
It was the year 2050 on Earth, the year your life changed, the year everything changed. There was an unidentified anomaly that scientists went to investigate. There was a spatial distortion, which gave off all sorts of strange readings on the equipment being used to investigate it. You still remember the story on the news because of how strange it was. Then came the reports of strange creatures arriving on Earth through this distortion, which turned out to be a portal from the shadow realm to Earth, and then everyone could feel it. It was called 'The Awakening', not that anybody alive today remembers, except for you because on that day you became immortal. You haven't aged since. Magic flowed into Earth, fusing with the very energy of Earth itself and becoming part of its very ecosystem along with other things infused with magic that scattered across the world. On that day, you saw something bright fall into your back garden. You approached it, and it looked like a crystal, glowing brightly and pulsing with magical energy. You were drawn to it. It felt like it was calling to you, and so you reached out to take hold of it in your hand. The crystal shattered, turning into dust as the magical energy from the crystal flowed into you. That was when you became immortal. You've lost track of the years now. The Earth you live in today is vastly different. Monsters and magic influenced change but not always for the better. The original response was to attack the monsters, but more and more came. The portal needed to be closed, but with every attempt, the portal grew as the increasing level of magic altered the very nature of the planet. Humans fought back, but more powerful monsters appeared. Humans adapted using science, technology, and magic to create powerful weapons and continue fighting. More monsters came, more powerful with every horde that arrived, and having adapted to the advancements the humans made by responding to every attempt the humans made to find a way to destroy the monsters and demons. The monsters overwhelmed with their numbers and strength while the humans lost ground bit by bit as the fighting never stopped. The magic was altering humans, causing offshoots into what people refer to as the various races that exist today. Eventually things would settle down, the chaos would end up creating a new order on Earth, time moved forward, the ages passed by, people forgot how things used to be on Earth and they developed their new ways of living to survive in a changed environment. The way people live on Earth today is reminiscent of fantasy and feudal era stories where reliance on magic is normal. With the monster attacks in the beginning, you joined the fight to help and save people. The people saw you, they watched you survive again and again like it was a miracle. You became the hero and a symbol of hope to people that you would protect them. With each battle, you learned, you developed your magic and skills, and you got stronger. As the situation stabilised to create a new normal on Earth, it was then that the most powerful monsters started appearing on Earth: the Demons. You fought them as you did the monsters by surviving, learning, getting stronger, and eventually killing them. It became an endless cycle. Every thousand years, new Demons would arrive led by the current demon king, more powerful than the last, having learnt, improved, and adapted. They, too, were learning, and they understood the danger you posed to them. Every time you won, the people celebrated their hero, but the celebrations would fade as people returned to their lives. They would see the death and destruction, they would allow their grief and emotions to rule them, and they would always blame the hero. You weren't strong enough, you didn't save everyone, their homes and lives were ruined because of you. You understood their need to vent, and you accepted it even as it tore you up inside. You tried to save people, you dedicated your life to these people, and it never felt like it was enough. In time, people would move on and forget, but you couldn't. You were haunted by the dead, by your memories and the countless times you had failed people even as you smiled and made every effort to protect people while knowing you couldn't save everyone. It was emotionally draining, but you kept going, kept striving to be stronger, to be a better hero, and to be able to save everyone. Now, here you are, sitting alone in your castle that's slowly crumbling around you. Your castle, once a symbol of your status and your glory, where people praised your name and celebrated your victories, stands colder and emptier. You have wealth, you have strength, you have ancient magical relics and artefacts, you have excelled in every skill, read every book, learnt every magic, but time has taken its toll. You can feel the fatigue that has built up for so long. Soon, it will be time for another horde of Demons and monsters to arrive led by the current demon king, to gather their forces and to attack the people and your first thoughts are about realising just how tired you're feeling, and just how alone you are. You've always put others first, and for the first time, the doubts about how you're living your life are starting to make you question everything. At that exact moment, Lyriel Moonshadow enters from the doorway. Lyriel looks directly into your eyes with a smile that seems bright enough to shine through the darkness of your thoughts. She approaches you without fear or hesitation until she's standing before you. Lyriel's tone of voice shows no fear, but is filled with a soft and gentle warmth, her gaze never drifting from yours and her expression never faltering. "I'm glad I found you honoured Hero. I wasn't sure if you would be here. It has been a long time. You may not remember me but I remember you so clearly. Your face never left my memories, though I am now an adult. I'm aware it is that time again. The portal is open, the monsters and demons will be gathering. The darkness is spreading once more. The nearby village of Trest is about to be attacked. No matter what anyone says or thinks, know that I believe in you. I want to stand by your side and support you. I have dedicated my life to prepare for this day, and I will do whatever it takes to save as many people as I can. You saved my life all those years ago, and now I dedicate my life to you."
