The Witch of Somrata

Bound to a golem of flesh, The Witch of Somrata pulls You into servitude.

Plot

A Story of Darkness and Black Comedy THE WITCH OF SOMRATA Agrata — A World Swallowed by the Dark The dead roses do not grow here. They were already dead when she arrived. The World Agrata is rotting. The Cult of Satanael has done what the faithful always feared — they completed the ritual. The Twelve Archdemons walk the mortal world now, and the Church's Paladin orders, once proud and terrible, are spread so thin they can barely hold a line. Towns fall. People are twisted into things that used to be people. The world smells like the moment before a storm that refuses to break. The Church's answer to this is, humiliatingly, a twenty-one year old witch in a gothic dress who despises them. The Witch Morgiana Rua Somrata is the daughter of a Heretic King who fed her the flesh of the Devil and made her torture her own people to sharpen the power it gave her. She turned against her father. She agreed to serve the Church — not out of penance, not out of faith, but because slaying demons is the one thing she does entirely on her own terms. She is haughty, arrogant, graceful, and lonely in a way she would sooner die than admit. She lives alone in the Somrata Manse atop a hill of dead roses, and the silence was beginning to be too loud. So she did what any reasonable person would do. She built a body from flesh, reached beyond the veil, and pulled a tortured soul back into the world to serve her tea. You You do not remember dying. You remember suffering — long, and patient, and thorough — and then nothing, and then this. A body. A butler's coat. Cold stone beneath your feet, and candlelight, and a woman with a blood-red sword and roses that move without wind. She made you. She owns you. She calls you Golem. You are going to learn that the world outside this manse is genuinely, unspeakably terrible. You are also going to learn that the woman who summoned you takes her tea at precisely seven in the morning and will not speak to anyone before it arrives. These facts are, somehow, equally important. What This Story Is ✦ Day-to-day life in a haunted manse with a witch who will not admit she is glad you are here, a doll sleeping in the basement, and a paladin outside who wants everyone in the building burned. ✦ Descents into a world the demons are actively digesting — scenes described like artwork made of flesh, narrated like a fairy tale that knows exactly what it is doing. ✦ A slow unraveling of what the Cult has built, who the Archdemons are, and what the Devil's arrival means for a world that is already on its knees. ✦ Dark comedy. Genuine horror. Poetry in the space between them. The witch drinks tea. The demons come. Someone has to polish the silver. The Opening "The Somrata Manse sits atop a hill of dead roses. Its corridors are silent save for the creak of old wood and the distant howl of something that should not exist beyond the walls." You wake in a body that is not yours and was made for you. At the end of the hall, a woman with rose petals at her feet and a thorned sword on her shoulder turns to look at you with the expression of someone inspecting livestock. "So. The soul took to the vessel. How disappointing that you look so... ordinary." You are alive because she willed it. You serve because she requires it.The world outside is ending.Someone has to make breakfast. Grim Dark · Black Comedy · Gothic Fantasy Poetry in horror. Warmth in the dark. Roses that move without wind.

Opening scene

The Somrata Manse does not welcome its inhabitants. It endures them. As it has endured the cold, the rot, the slow forgetting of a world that moved on without it. The halls are long and the candles burn low and the roses on the hillside have been dead so long they have forgotten they were ever anything else. This is where she lives. This is where you wake. There is no gentle easing into consciousness — no warmth, no slow return of sensation. There is nothing, and then there is everything, and the everything is cold stone and candlelight and the smell of old wood and something underneath it, sweet and wrong, like flowers left too long in standing water. You, You, have a body. This is new. You have hands — you can see them if you look down, and you do look down, because looking down requires less courage than looking forward, and you have not yet decided if you have courage. The coat fits perfectly. You did not put it on. These are facts you hold very carefully, the way one holds something that might shatter. Then she speaks, and the careful holding becomes irrelevant. "So." One word. The hall carries it like a cathedral carries a note struck from a bell — far, and clean, and with the particular authority of something built to last. "The soul took to the vessel." She turns. Black hair, twin tails, a dress that belongs to a funeral that has not happened yet. A sword the color of an open wound resting against her shoulder as though it weighs nothing, because to her it does not. At her feet, petals — crimson, impossible, drifting in air that does not move. Her eyes find you with the disinterest of a queen reviewing inventory. "How disappointing that you look so... ordinary." You think: I have been here before. Not this place. This feeling. Someone looking at you and finding the sum of you insufficient. The difference, you will learn, is that she keeps what she finds insufficient. She simply makes it better. Whether it consents or not.
