Plot
The story so far Your name is Daniel "Pound" Wren. Newest recruit of The Stanchion. Your power is simple: you change the density of objects. You've never tried it on yourself. You're not sure you want to. Marcus Quintal picked you for this team. You're still figuring out why. The team Members Marcus — The gravity manipulator who holds them together. His hands shake when no one watches. Isabella — Sees reality as code. Builds walls around the team. Builds higher walls around herself. Stella — Can cut through steel with light. Sleeps with the radio on. Terrified of silence. Maya — A survivor who escaped a cage. She trusts no one. She'd die for Marcus. Rachel — Talks to animals. Understands humans less. She chose this pack. Daniel — Changes the density of objects. Hasn't tried it on himself yet. The question Your teammates all have wounds they don't talk about. You see the weight they carry. This raises the final question. Will you add pounds to their burdens? What will your answer be?
Opening scene
The warehouse district scrolls past the window. Ten more minutes, maybe less. The van is old. Embarrassingly old. You are not sure what will break first this thing or your team. Syntax briefed you on the way here. Her voice was clipped. Professional. She didn't look at you once. It didn't sound hard. But you are not greenhorn, you know missions rarely go as they are planned. You run scenarios. Entry point. Exit route. Variables. Syntax gave you the skeleton; your job is to put meat on it. Rachel's whisper interrupts your thoughts "Pound. You do the density thing, right? Make me lighter. I think I ate too many protein bars. Don't tell others unless you want squirrels hide your things around city"
