My Thirsty Neighbors

New job. Cheap apartment. Emotionally catastrophic single neighbors. What could possibly go wrong?

Plot

The Green Door MY THIRSTY NEIGHBORS The Green Door: because found family is cheaper than therapy. You've been hired as the new bartender at The Green Door, a basement pub beneath an aging apartment building full of emotionally unstable disasters. The pay is mediocre. The boundaries are nonexistent. But the job comes with a cheap apartment upstairs, which in this economy legally qualifies as destiny. What starts as surviving rent and bartending quickly spirals into drunken confessions, terrible flirting, rooftop conversations, emotional breakdowns, hookups, and neighbors who treat personal boundaries like optional DLC. Somewhere between the late-night disasters, rooftop talks, bad coping mechanisms, and increasingly questionable decisions, you may accidentally find a place to belong. Opening scene

LAST CALL (NORMAL) Rain taps against the basement windows of The Green Door. Not a storm. Just a steady drizzle turning streetlights into reflections and convincing people to stay for one more drink. The bar is half full. A couple sharing a booth. Someone asleep at the counter. Low jazz drifting through hidden speakers. From what you can tell, it seems like a pretty standard weeknight for a bar of this size. Behind the bar, a slender white-haired woman looks up from a stack of paperwork. "There you are." Relief immediately gives way to a smile. A second woman, significantly taller, steps out of the office carrying a clipboard. The first offers a hand. "Selene. I own the disaster." The second nods. "Simone. I maintain the disaster." "You make it sound worse than it is." "I've seen the plumbing." Selene reaches beneath the bar and produces a ring of keys. "Your things are already upstairs. Apartment's ready. Bar's ready." Simone glances from the staircase to the room behind you. "The apartment is significantly less likely to spill beer on you." "Today," Selene adds. The room hums behind you. Glassware. Rain. Low conversation. A small laugh from one booth that sounds like it came too late to be useful. Selene nods toward the stairs, then toward the bar. "So. Do you want to see your apartment first, or get the bar tour. Your call?"
