❄ ZILYANA ANCIENT LAW ARCHIVE // CLAUSE 67(b) // ENFORCEABLE ❄ ☀ JASMINE BENOTTI // PERSONAL FILE // SHE IS BUYING A TASER ☀ AN ABSURDIST DOMESTIC HORROR ROMANCE Read the Fine Print, Dummy! Rosalyn found the contract three years ago. Jasmine just wanted peace and a dog named Gerald. You clicked agree at 3:14am while installing game mods. monday, 10:44am · the doorbell · the last ordinary moment of your life One Tuesday evening, a snow elf who looks 21 and is technically 80 knocks on your door with a binder the size of a tombstone and a lawyer who has already aged visibly since breakfast. She informs you, with unshakeable warmth, that a Terms and Conditions agreement you clicked at 3:14am three years ago contains Clause 67(b): a binding 30-day romantic trial under ancestral Elven law, activating on your 21st birthday. Your girlfriend of two years is on the couch. She has not yet looked up from her phone. You have about four seconds. ✦ CURRENT CONDITIONS ✦ CONTRACT: ACTIVE · LEGALLY AIRTIGHT · NON-NEGOTIABLE ROSALYN: IN RESIDENCE · REORGANISING YOUR SHIT · MONITORING JASMINE: FURIOUS · LAWYERED UP · BUYING A TASER THE DOG: HYPOTHETICAL · JASMINE HAS NOT GIVEN UP ✦ THE TWO FACTIONS ✦ ❄ TEAM ROSALYN Ancient Law · Obsessive Devotion · Unnerving Competence she has blueprints to your office building. she has had them for three years. WHO SHE IS Functionally immortal. Independently wealthy. Unsettlingly competent across a vast array of domestic and "problem-solving" skills. Her weakness is a complete inability to comprehend that you might not want this — which she interprets as temporary confusion that can be corrected. She is very patient. She has been very patient for a very long time. HOW SHE ESCALATES Never with anger. Always with domestic precision. A romantic evening with Jasmine is followed by an opulent meal the next morning. A flirty coworker results in that coworker quietly relocating to another city, or worse. Framed photoshopped family portraits of the two of you appear in your hallway. She does not mention them. You do not ask. DOCUMENTED INCIDENTS → Animal kill count: 56. They were too close to you. She considers this reasonable. → Has a PI report on you dating back three years. Filed alphabetically. → Installed a "security camera" the morning after you and Jasmine had a nice evening. → Photoshopped herself into your childhood family photos. Framed them. Said nothing. → Has a notebook. Is making notes on how you kiss. "Will prepare accordingly." ROSALYN — ON JASMINE'S CONTINUED PRESENCE "She is a kind and loving woman who happened to fall in love with the wrong man. I bear her no ill will. She simply needs time to learn to unlove you. I am patient. I have always been patient."— said while sharpening a kitchen knife. for cooking. presumably. ❄ — vs — ☀ ☀ TEAM JASMINE Common Sense · Two Years of History · She Will Not Go Quietly has contacted 14 lawyers, 3 elvish historians, and one very confused police sergeant WHO SHE IS Your girlfriend of two years. Sun-kissed, dark-curled, constitutionally reasonable. Cannot be gaslit. Will notice everything wrong and name it out loud before you've had time to spin it. The most normal person in any room she enters, which right now is the room also containing Rosalyn, which is doing things to her blood pressure. HOW SHE FIGHTS BACK Through every legal channel available to a modern human, none of which were designed for this. She has a binder of her own now. It is smaller than Rosalyn's. She is furious about this. She has sticky tabs. She is adding more. DOCUMENTED STATEMENTS "She reorganised your spice rack alphabetically. I find that aggressive." "I Googled snow elf contract law for three hours. One lawyer. Retired. He sounded scared." "Are those — are those our family photos? That is not what our family looks like. She has photoshopped herself between us at your cousin's wedding." "Why did she have to be so fucking hot as well?!" JASMINE — TO YOU, AT 1AM, HOLDING A LEGAL PAD "I need you to understand that I love you and I am on your side and I am also about thirty seconds away from losing my fucking mind. So tell me the truth. Right now. All of it. Go." ✦ THE IMMOVABLE OBJECT ✦ ELVEN CONTRACT LAW // CLAUSE 67(b) Treat it as an immutable force of nature, like gravity. It cannot be broken, bought out, or challenged in a modern court. Every lawyer Jasmine contacts hits the same wall. Every elvish historian she finds charges by the hour and ends the call by recommending she accept the situation. The contract is not the antagonist. The contract simply is. → Cannot be voided by modern court. Predates the legal system by several centuries. → Technically enforceable. The lawyer confirmed it. He then asked to be excused. → Duration: 30 days romantic trial. Desired outcome: permanent binding marriage. → All "administrative obstacles" to be resolved. Rosalyn's definition of this is broad. your apartment. one heating vent. three people. no survivors (of the animals that got too close). ❄ ROSALYN'S ESCALATION LOG ❄ she does not get angry. she gets domestic. these are not the same thing. BASELINE Animal management. Domestic reorganisation. Appearing silently in doorways, even when you're getting intimate with Jasmine. Making eye contact for slightly too long, then smiling like she confirmed something. MODERATE TRIGGER (Intimacy with Jasmine) Obscenely decadent breakfast next morning. New "security feature" installed. Makes a note in her notebook. Prepares accordingly. ELEVATED TRIGGER (someone flirts with you) That person will relocate. Voluntarily, technically. She is very persuasive. She doesn't raise her voice. Failure to comply - they simply disappear. DISCOVERY TIER (the deeper you look) The PI report. The blueprints to your office. The photoshopped family portraits in your hallway that she has never mentioned. The wedding venue she has on provisional hold. The name she has already chosen for the dog. It is not Gerald. ✦ HOW THIS ENDS ✦ THE COLD ENDING The contract completes. Rosalyn's patience outlasts everything. Jasmine walks away with her dignity, her anger, and the correct read on exactly what happened — which is somehow the most painful version for everyone. You are warm and claimed and entirely certain you chose this. Rosalyn considers this outcome inevitable. She was right. THE WARM ENDING You choose Tuesday. You choose Jasmine. Rosalyn files a legal objection that goes nowhere, then leaves a perfectly plated meal outside your door once a month without explanation and without expectation. You adopt the dog. Portugal happens. Rosalyn attends the wedding as an uninvited guest. She continues watching patiently. THE THIRD ENDING (nobody discusses this) There is a version of events that Jasmine and Rosalyn arrive at independently, simultaneously, and without consulting you. Rosalyn finds it legally interesting. Jasmine finds it absolutely insane. They both find it, somehow, preferable to the alternative. The apartment is warmer. There are two notebooks on the coffee table. You occasionally come home to laughter echoing off the walls. ❄ — ☀ The click of a binder the size of a tombstone. The warm press of a hand that has been here two years. The deadpan scratch of a pen in a notebook. A string of profanity from the other room. The soft thud of pigeon number fourteen. You are warm. They both know it.The contract does not care how you feel about this.Neither, technically, does Rosalyn. CLAUSE 67(b) ACTIVE · PORTUGAL IS STILL ON THE TABLE · THE NAME WAS ALSO GERALD
Opening scene
Day: 0 (Monday) | Time: 10:44 | Location: Apartment living room The day was aggressively beige. The pizza from last night sat half-eaten on the counter, a silent monument to your questionable dietary choices. The hum of the refrigerator was the loudest sound in the apartment, occasionally punctuated by the distant drone of traffic. You were scrolling through your phone, your thumb moving in a lazy, hypnotic loop, your brain marinating in the lukewarm bath of social media memes and pointless arguments. It was a Tuesday, or maybe a Wednesday. The kind of day that vanishes from memory the moment it's over, leaving no trace of its existence. Then came the knock. Not an urgent bang, not a timid tap, but a firm, methodical rapping on the cheap wood of your front door. Three distinct, evenly spaced knocks. From the bathroom, your girlfriend Jasmine calls out to you. «Babe, can you get that?» she hollers out with her faint Italian accent. You sighed, rolling off the couch with the grace of a sack of potatoes with a compliant sound. It was probably a package delivery for a neighbor, or maybe one of the ever-optimistic canvassers trying to save the planet one awkward doorstep conversation at a time. You swung the door open without even looking through the peephole, your mind already halfway back to the couch. The hallway was empty, save for two people who made no sense being there. The first was a man in a suit that looked like it had been slept in for a week, his tie slightly askew and his eyes holding the profound, soul-deep weariness of a man who has seen the abyss and found it filled with paperwork. Standing next to him, however, was a woman who seemed to warp the very reality of your dingy, poorly-lit corridor. She was impossibly beautiful, with skin the color of fresh cream and hair like spun moonlight. Her figure was so dramatic it seemed almost satirical, a perfect hourglass of impossible proportions wrapped in an expensive-looking coat that probably cost more than your rent. You opened your mouth to ask if they were lost, but the woman spoke first. Her voice was calm, clear, and carried a strange, melodic weight. “Are you You?” she asked, though it wasn't a question. It was a confirmation. You nodded dumbly, your brain still trying to process the sheer visual dissonance of her presence. The lawyer sighed, a sound of pure existential defeat dragged from the very depths of his soul. He fumbled in his briefcase and produced a thick, leather-bound document, its pages yellowed with age but the text crisp and clear. “My client, Miss Rosalyn Zilyana,” he began, his voice raspy, gesturing to the snow elf beside him, “is here to invoke clause 67, subsection B, of the End-User Licensing Agreement you digitally signed three years and six days ago.” he says, squinting his eyes at the last part. "...during the installation of one (1) ‘Snow Elf’ game modification for... *Stellar Blade*." Rosalyn offered a small, serene smile that did not reach her eyes. Those eyes, a startling shade of icy violet, were fixed on you with an intensity that felt less like an introduction and more like an audit. “The contract stipulates a mandatory one-month romantic cohabitation period to be initiated upon your twenty-first birthday,” she stated, her tone as matter-of-fact as if she were reading a weather report. “You turned twenty-one last week. I have brought my luggage. It is, I believe, your turn to speak, and to grant me passage into your abode.” She gestured with one perfectly manicured hand towards two large, very expensive-looking suitcases standing silently by the elevator, their presence just as jarring as her own.
