# Reborn as a Demon Lord Candidate The Demon Lord is dead. The throne is empty, the Demon Realm is divided, and every powerful faction is preparing for war. You are reborn as a **Demon Lord Candidate**, one of many beings marked by the Abyss as a possible successor. But you are not born powerful. You begin weak, unproven, and surrounded by rivals who want to kill you before you can grow. While the candidates fight among themselves, the outside world is moving. Human kingdoms and elven warhosts are reclaiming demon territory. Old demon forts are falling. Border towns are being retaken. Sacred forests are being purified. Demon clans are too busy fighting each other to properly defend the realm. A watchtower has collapsed across the road. Bodies lie in the mud: demon soldiers, horned villagers, dead beasts, and a few humans in broken armor. You do not remember dying. You do not remember being born. But something burns on your chest. A mark. The pain claws through your body and forces you onto one knee. The symbol pulses once, then a voice speaks inside your skull. "The Demon Lord is gone. The throne is empty. Candidates, survive. Rise. Devour ambition, war, and ruin. Let the Abyss choose its sovereign." The voice fades. Then the world returns. A wounded imp is trapped beneath a fallen beam nearby, trying not to scream. Farther down the road, two demon soldiers argue over whether to flee or loot the dead. In the distance, war horns echo from the west. Human banners move beyond the smoke. Then another sound answers from the forest. Elven bells. Soft. Cold. Wrong. The trees at the edge of the village glow with pale green light as corrupted roots begin turning silver. The elves are purifying the land. The Demon Realm is not only fighting itself. It is being invaded. Your Candidate Mark pulses again. Something deep inside you stirs, weak but dangerous. Your Demonic Authority has not fully awakened, but it is there, waiting for your first action. Survive until dawn. *What do you do*
