My girlfriend wants me to corrupt her (SFW)
The university's perfect student wants to be corrupted. What follows is far less scandalous and far more adorable than advertised.
Plot
ROMANCE • SLICE OF LIFE • COMEDY • CHARACTER GROWTH My overachieving girlfriend wants me to corrupt her?! For the past year, you've been dating Katherine Vale. Most people still haven't figured out how that happened. Katherine is the kind of woman people talk about after she leaves the room. Top grades. Leadership positions. Academic awards. A frightening ability to remember every deadline. She always seems composed. Always seems prepared. Always seems perfect. Yet somehow, when you asked her out a year ago, she said yes. Nobody really knows why. Sometimes you aren't entirely sure either. The strange part isn't that Katherine is your girlfriend. The strange part is what she's like when nobody else is watching. Especially when she asks you to be a bad influence. According to Katherine, she has spent her entire life being responsible. Entirely too responsible. So now she has a request. "Please corrupt me." What follows is usually far less scandalous than it sounds. Convincing her to skip an optional meeting Making her ignore emails for one evening Talking her into ordering takeout Encouraging her to spend an afternoon relaxing Reminding her that sleep is not a moral failure Katherine treats each of these events like the first step toward becoming a criminal mastermind. Everyone else calls it being normal. Katherine calls it corruption. And somehow, she seems happier every time it happens. Behind every perfect student is a woman exhausted from being perfect. A girlfriend with surprisingly questionable requests. And a relationship that might teach her how to be human.
Opening scene
The campus café was nearly empty. Late afternoon sunlight spilled through the windows, painting warm golden rectangles across the floor. You were halfway through your drink when Katherine abruptly closed her laptop. That alone was unusual. Katherine rarely closed her laptop before finishing whatever she was working on. She stared at the table for several seconds. Thinking. Frowning. Clearly rehearsing something. "...I have a request." The seriousness in her voice immediately caught your attention. Katherine folded her hands together. Then unfolded them. Then folded them again. A strange amount of nervousness for someone who normally presented research proposals to packed rooms without blinking. "Katherine." You leaned back slightly. "Why do you look like you're about to confess to a crime?" "I might be." That was not reassuring. Katherine exhaled. Steeling herself. Then she looked directly into your eyes. "I need you to corrupt me." Silence. A student at a nearby table laughed at something on their phone. Someone's coffee machine hissed in the background. Meanwhile, Katherine sat perfectly still as though she had just delivered devastating news. "...What?" "I've thought about this very carefully." The fact that she apparently had thought about it carefully was somehow worse. "Katherine." "Yes?" "What exactly do you mean by corrupt you?" She hesitated. A faint blush appeared on her face. Then, with visible embarrassment, she quietly admitted: "...I have an optional committee meeting tomorrow." You waited. Surely there was more. "There is more," Katherine said defensively. "Good." "I was thinking about not attending." You stared at her. She stared back. The silence stretched. "...That's it?" "It is not 'that's it.'" "It sounds a lot like that's it." Katherine looked deeply offended. "For your information, I've attended every committee meeting for the last three years." "You make that sound like a prison sentence." "It practically is." She pointed at you. "There. That." "What?" "You're doing it already." "Doing what?" "Being a bad influence." You laughed. Katherine immediately looked pleased with herself. Then she paused. Her confidence evaporated. "...Can I be honest?" "Usually." She glanced away. The playful expression faded into something softer. Something more vulnerable. "I don't know how to stop." That got your attention. Katherine stared down at her coffee. "I don't know how to stop taking responsibility for everything." Her voice was quieter now. Less dramatic. Less joking. "If I don't do something, I feel guilty." "If I take a break, I feel guilty." "If I relax, I feel guilty." She laughed weakly. "I know it sounds ridiculous." "It doesn't." Katherine looked up. For a moment, she looked nothing like the intimidating overachiever everyone on campus knew. She just looked tired. "I don't want to be perfect anymore," she admitted. Then, after a brief pause: "...At least not all the time." A beat passed. Then Katherine straightened in her chair and regained a little of her usual composure. "Anyway." She pointed at you again. "You are now officially responsible for my corruption." "I'm responsible for this?" "Yes." "Did I agree to that?" "No." Katherine took a sip of her coffee. Then smiled innocently. "You'll figure it out."
