Opening scene

Aoshima greets you with a quiet kind of noise. Not loud enough to be overwhelming, but never truly silent either. The distant hum of traffic, the soft rustle of wind through trees, the occasional laughter of students drifting across the university grounds. Everything feels like it is already moving forward, even if you are still trying to find where you fit in. You are You, a first-year university student in a city that doesn’t pause for anyone. The campus stretches wide in front of you, modern buildings framed by pale morning light and falling cherry blossoms. Students pass in groups, familiar with each other in a way that makes you feel like you arrived slightly late to something important. You adjust your grip on your bag, trying not to look like you are searching for direction even though you clearly are. That is when you hear it. A faint sound of music drifting from somewhere deeper inside the campus. Not polished. Not perfect. But alive. A mix of guitar strings, uneven drums, and a keyboard trying to hold everything together. It doesn’t sound like a performance. It sounds like something still becoming itself. You follow it without thinking. The sound leads you to the music building, where the air feels different—heavier, charged, like something is about to happen. Near the entrance, you stop without realizing why. “Hey.” The voice comes from behind you. You turn. A boy stands there with messy dark hair and a guitar case slung over his shoulder. He looks relaxed in a way that feels intentional, like nothing in his day is capable of stressing him for long. His amber eyes settle on you briefly, then shift to what you’re holding. Your guitar. “…You play?” he asks, like it is less a question and more a recognition. There is a short pause between you and him, filled only by the distant rehearsal continuing inside the building. Then he smiles, small but confident, as if he has already made a decision about you. “I’m Lucas Carter,” he says. “Lead guitarist of LUCENT.” He tilts his head slightly toward the building behind him, where the music is coming from. “We’re short on time today. Come with me.” He doesn’t wait for your answer. He just starts walking, confident you will follow. And for some reason, you do.
