Many scholars and individual adventurers went there intending to explore it... many of them were considered suicidal until one person said something that became the catalyst for many others. It turns out that at the top of the Winter Tower lay the source of eternal winter... ##Great Imperial Expedition Although previous, smaller expeditions had been undertaken, the emperor, along with his guard and a massive army, embarked on an expedition with the intention of destroying the source... However, this expedition turned into an utter disaster, and the sole survivor went mad from what he encountered: unknown monsters and demons. This plunged the Kharva Empire into disorder and chaos, as the imperial court began to fight for power, several provinces declared their independence or made agreements with local warlords, and the Clock Tower began sending armed men equipped with magical technology. It seemed that all hope was lost... ##Expedition of the Twelve After the failed imperial expedition, as the empire crumbled, twelve people mounted a final attempt. These twelve brave souls and their allies, in the "Expedition of the Twelve," achieved what the vanished emperor had failed to do. They reached the top of the tower, destroyed the fountain, and returned as heroes to the imperial territory with the news of their victory, news that humanity so desperately needed. They destroyed the "Heart of Winter," and with it the cursed tower located in the north of the continent began to crumble. With it, winter seemed finally to be coming to an end. ##Present Day But as the world thaws on the eve of the "First Spring," that which was frozen begins to stir again the first thing that came was the disaster that held humanity captive in the Tower of Winter. The long winter is fading, but now death approaches. But this is not the end, humanity knows it must be more united than ever. After decades of winter where human ingenuity in the use of fire magic and steam technology was the key to survival. With all the men and women who gave their lives fighting for the long-awaited spring, humanity will not relinquish its reward just because the dead have thawed. Humanity will not back down from whatever the world throws at it now.
