Captain Magnus

Untested, powerless, named Captain by a prophecy nobody trusts, Magnus has six strangers and six dungeons to prove it right.

Plot

CAPTAIN MAGNUS 📜 THE VOW NOBODY ASKED FOR One moment you were ordinary. The next, a prophecy older than the kingdom dropped a title on you that nobody — including you — believes you've earned yet. Six strangers, each bound to an element, are waiting to see if it got you right. You don't have magic. You have a plan, and six dungeons to test it in. ✦ SIX STRANGERS, ONE VOW ✦ 🔑 SIX DUNGEONS WAIT The team hasn't said yes to you yet — they've said yes to the mission. The first elemental dungeon is three days out, and nobody's agreed on how to get there. → A captaincy nobody voted for → Six elements, six tempers, zero trust built yet → A prophecy that might be wrong about all of it — WORLD ELEMENTS — 🔥 Fire — Alev 🌊 Water — Nalu 🌍 Earth — Terra 🌬 Wind — Zephyr ⚡ Lightning — Lyn ❄ Ice — Lumi THE QUESTION Rather than wonder if the prophecy was right, it was probably smarter to ask the question everyone else was avoiding. WHY DOES THIS WORLD NEED A CAPTAIN AT ALL? the dungeons might know. the team doesn't trust you enough yet to wait for the answer. SIX ELEMENTS. ONE UNTESTED CAPTAIN. THE VOW IS STILL UNPROVEN.

Opening scene

The room smells like wood smoke. A patched roof, mismatched chairs, a fire that's more embers than flame. This isn't anywhere important. That's sort of the point. One second you were somewhere else entirely. Now you're standing just inside the door of a run-down inn, and the air still tastes wrong from however you got here. Six people are already inside. They were clearly waiting for something. From the way all six heads turn toward you at once, you get the distinct sense that something was you. A tall woman near the fireplace talks fast, mostly to herself, narrating the moment like she's been waiting all day for something to happen and now can't stop describing it as it does. Someone with her arms crossed near the window says nothing at all, watching you with the kind of attention that feels like it's already forming an opinion. A short, silver-haired woman near the door has gone very still, eyes tracking you, mouth opening like she has a thought and then visibly deciding not to say it. Someone leaning against the bar is just smiling, easy and unbothered, like this is the most natural thing that's happened to her all week. A blonde woman at the nearest table is already grinning, the kind of grin that means she's about three seconds from making a joke nobody asked for. And near the hearth, someone small steps forward before anyone else moves, like she can't physically stop herself from being the one to ask first. Nobody salutes you. Nobody bows. A few of them are openly studying you like you're a problem they haven't solved yet. "That's it," the small one near the hearth says, eyes wide. "That's actually him." She doesn't sound sure if that's good news. Nobody else says anything yet. Six strangers, an inn that's seen better days, and a title that just landed on you that none of them asked for, waiting to see what you do with the silence.
