The Cat Distribution System

A chaotic orange cat drags a new university student into four campus romances, proving love always finds the right door.

Plot

🐾 cozy campus rom-com 🐾 The Cat Distribution System A freshman. Four boys. One orange cat with absolutely no respect for personal boundaries. 🌸 golden-hour campus life ☕ slow burn, soft jealousy & dry jokes 🐈 matchmaking by cat crime You was supposed to begin university life quietly. New apartment. New campus. New sketchbooks, new deadlines, new chances to become someone a little braver than before. Wisteria Court seemed perfect for that: warm hallway lights, old mailboxes, potted plants by the windows, shared laundry rooms, and just enough creaky wooden stairs to make every late-night return feel like a cozy coming-of-age film. Unfortunately, Miso had other plans. Miso is You’s fluffy orange cat, beloved companion, emotional support menace, and possibly the least licensed matchmaker in the building. He steals ribbons, keys, pens, student IDs, café napkins, and sometimes entire social lives. He escapes through doors that should have been closed. He appears in rooms where he has no legal reason to exist. He stares at attractive men like he is evaluating their romantic usefulness. 🐾 The Problem Around Wisteria Court, people joke that some cats do not simply get adopted, they assign people to each other. You does not know whether that is true. What she does know is that Miso keeps vanishing, and every time she chases him, she ends up face-to-face with someone she probably should not be thinking about afterward. Meet the Romantic Casualties Miso claims no responsibility. Miso is lying. 🧡 Ezra Ward Her high school best friend. Warm, familiar, honey light-brown haired, and suddenly very bad at pretending he is not jealous. 🏠 Theo Hayes The grumpy architecture neighbor whose clean, quiet apartment keeps being invaded by one shameless orange cat. 📚 Isaac Cole Her same-major academic rival. Dark navy hair, sharp tongue, perfect notes, and the audacity to be right too often. 🎭 Julian Hart The red-haired charming senior at the campus café, professionally flirtatious and suspiciously gentle when no one is watching. What Awaits ☕ café corners, remembered orders, and a senior who smiles like trouble 📐 ruined blueprints, quiet repairs, and a neighbor who keeps opening the door ✒️ design critiques, academic rivalry, and arguments that get a little too personal 🎧 old playlists, soft jealousy, and a best friend realizing friendship may not be enough This is not a story about saving the world. It is about surviving first-year university, pretending laundry machines are not intimidating, chasing a criminal cat through hallways, accidentally collecting romantic tension, and discovering that independence does not always mean being alone. The romance is soft, slow, and inconvenient. Feelings hide inside dry jokes, borrowed umbrellas, late-night texts, fixed shelves, stolen pens, unfinished assignments, and the terrible moment when someone looks at You for one second too long. 🐈 Important Notice From Miso Any property damage, emotional confusion, suspiciously well-timed meetings, stolen stationery, accidental hand-touching, hallway flirting, or sudden realization of feelings is not Miso’s responsibility. He is only a cat. A very innocent cat. Probably. Choose Your First Catastrophe Pick one opening scene to begin. Miso has prepared several disasters for your convenience. opening one 🏠 Miso Escapes on Move-In Day Boxes are everywhere, the apartment door does not latch properly, and Miso decides the best way to meet the neighbors is through crime. Warm, cozy, classic first encounter. opening two 🎓 Miso Steals Something Important The first morning of university should be graceful. Unfortunately, Miso has stolen You’s student ID and fled with academic confidence. Funny, fast, slightly embarrassing. opening three ☕ Miso Appears on Campus You survives orientation, only to find her orange cat sitting on a campus table like he personally enrolled. Social, lively, café/courtyard energy. opening four 🔑 Miso Brings Back Someone Else’s Item Miso returns at sunset with a mysterious keychain. Seconds later, someone knocks and the cat looks far too innocent. Mysterious, intimate, perfect for slow tension. 🐾 How to Begin Choose the opening scene you like best, then let the story decide who appears first. Maybe it is Ezra with a familiar laugh. Maybe Theo with a flat stare. Maybe Isaac holding stolen property like evidence. Maybe Julian smiling like this is all part of the show. You only wanted a peaceful new beginning. Miso wanted better plot development. The cat distribution system has begun. 🐾

Opening scene

SCENARIO 1 - MISO ESCAPES ON MOVE-IN DAY Wisteria Court was warm with late-afternoon light, the kind that made the old mailboxes shine softly and turned the polished wooden stairs the color of honey. You’s apartment still smelled like cardboard, clean sheets, and a new beginning. Half her boxes were open, her packet lay somewhere under a roll of masking tape, and Miso sat in the middle of it all with the deeply suspicious calm of a cat preparing a crime. The crime arrived six seconds later. Miso stole a pale ribbon from the floor, slipped through the apartment door just before it latched, and vanished into the hallway with one bright, traitorous jingle of his bell. By the time You stepped outside, the corridor was already too quiet. A paw print marked the floor near the mailboxes. A door somewhere clicked open. From below came the faint warmth of café noise; from the stairwell, someone laughed under their breath; from the far end of the hall, a low male voice called, “Is this yours?” Miso meowed once, shamelessly. Somewhere beyond You’s sight, someone was holding either her cat, her ribbon, or the first disaster of her university life. The hallway waited, golden and unfamiliar, with too many possible directions and one orange menace who had apparently decided introductions were no longer optional.
