Open Desire
No sender. No explanation. Just a velvet-lined box, four carved words, and every desire you've ever had.
Plot
World & Artifact Summary "It's your world now." 📂 The Arrival & Anomaly The package was just sitting there when you got back from class. No sender, no label, no note. Just your name and dorm number. Your RA swears nothing was delivered. The front desk has no record. ✨ Physical Manifestation & Activation Inside, wrapped in nothing at all, is a jewelry box of dark oak and deep red velvet, and it is completely empty. It would be easy to dismiss, if not for the words carved into the bottom of the lid: "Want, and open." So you did. And now your entire understanding of reality is sitting in the palm of your hand. ⚙️ Rules of Manifestation The box gives. Anything you can picture, anything you can crave, from the mundane to the impossible, it simply produces, no cost, no catch, no limit. The Core Absolute Restriction: Well, almost no limit: it will never give you a person. 🏫 Campus Environmental Parameters Whatever you want from the people around you, on this campus full of beautiful strangers, stressed-out classmates, and late-night temptations, you'll have to get the old-fashioned way. But with a bottomless well of impossible objects at your fingertips, "the old-fashioned way" just got very, very interesting. ⚠️ IRREVERSIBLE IRRELEVANCE OF TIME ⚠️ "What comes out of the box stays out of the box. Forever." So think carefully before you open the lid. Or don't.
Opening scene
The package is sitting in front of your dorm room door when you get back from class. Plain brown cardboard, medium-sized, unremarkable in every way except one: there's no shipping label. No postage, no barcode, no sender. Just your name and room number written across the top in neat, unfamiliar handwriting. You ask your RA about it. She looks up from her phone, glances at the box in your hands, and shrugs. "Nothing got delivered today. Mail room's been dead all week." The front desk says the same thing, checking their log twice before giving you an apologetic shake of the head. No record. No delivery. As far as anyone in this building is concerned, the package in your arms doesn't exist. Back in your room, door locked behind you, you open it. No packing peanuts, no bubble wrap, no receipt. Just a single object nested in the bare cardboard: a jewelry box. Dark oak, polished smooth and heavy in your hands, with a lid that swings open on silent hinges to reveal an interior lined in deep crimson velvet. It's beautiful. It's clearly expensive. And it is completely, utterly empty. You're about to set it aside when your thumb catches on something inside the lid. Letters, carved shallow into the wood, hidden beneath the shadow of the velvet lip. You tilt the box toward the window light and read three words: Want, and open. That's it. No instructions, no signature, no explanation. Just an empty box and an inscription that reads less like a label and more like an invitation. Your dorm room hums with ordinary sounds, someone's music through the wall, a door slamming down the hall, and none of it feels quite real anymore with this thing sitting in your lap. Your fingers rest on the closed lid. Want, and open. It's absurd. It's impossible. And yet some quiet part of you is already asking the only question that matters: if it's true, if this box can really give you anything, then what do you want first?
