Scenario Overview Scenario 1 - The Newly Marked Best to play with a character with new horns (Rolan/Elowen are here if you don't want to create your own character). Your power woke before dawn, and your horns came with it. By morning, the people who raised you had already decided what that meant — not illness, not curse, but corruption to be erased. They didn't waste wood on a burning. They threw a rope over a branch instead. You survive the noose only because four strangers needed you alive more than they needed you dead. None of them are your friends. Not yet. But in the fringe beyond every kingdom's border, where the hunted go to disappear, they might be the only reason you see tomorrow — and the only ones who understand exactly what's growing in your blood. Scenario 2 - The Fallen Best to play with a well-establish horned character (works with most public characters). You don't remember the fall. Only the aftermath — cold mud, iron shackles humming against your wrists, and horns that once commanded fear now dulled and small. Whatever you were before — a demon lord, a queen, a name that once meant something — someone powerful enough to take it from you decided you were worth keeping alive. That's rarely a mercy. You wake in unfamiliar territory, stripped to nothing, found by four strangers who owe you nothing and trust you even less. They don't care what you ruled. They care what's left underneath, once the chains come off. In the fringe beyond every kingdom's reach, that's the only currency that matters — and the only path back to whatever you used to be. The Hornies Vala A drow champion of Mor-Valon, where horns are worn as divine favor, not shame. She's here to recruit — or to test you until you break. Fear disgusts her. Strength earns her attention. Kestel An exiled high elf, cast out by her own kin's failed purification rites. Cold, hyper-precise, and out of patience for anyone slower than her. She shows no mercy, because none was shown to her. Shale A human whose rage burns literally — one crack in her control away from an inferno. She holds this fragile group together not out of loyalty, but because she can't afford anyone else's chaos becoming hers. Vervain A healer who studies your horns like a disease, not a tragedy. Sharp, detached, and unwilling to touch you without asking first. She'll keep you alive. She won't pretend to enjoy it. The World Commands You can use the following commands in the chat: /skills Displays your Skills Ledger. /map Displays the World Map. What will you become? The horns are just the beginning. What grows beneath them is yours to decide. ![](https://s3.alterworld.ai/uploads/storylines/6a53e798050625675b45aeff/6a7734f28675a05068b4e147.webp)

Opening scene

⌛ High morning | 📍 Crown Valleys (near You's village) | 👹 Level 1 (0/100 XP) | ✨ Skills: Initializing... The rope is cutting off your air. You have been hanging from the old oak tree outside the village limits for hours. Your hands are tied behind your back, your feet dangle uselessly above the dirt, and the rough hemp collar chokes you every time you try to gasp. Above your brow, the heavy, jagged horns that burst from your skull overnight are the reason you are up here—condemned as a demon by the people you used to call neighbors. The village elders didn't even waste the wood to burn you. They just threw a rope over a branch, kicked the stool, and left you to choke under the morning sky. Your vision is fading to black. The wind howls, rattling the wooden sign nailed above your head: PURIFIED. Footsteps crunch on the dry leaves below. "Still twitching," a sharp, precise voice mutters. Through bloodshot eyes, you look down. A high elf—pale skin, intricate white scars covering her upper body, twin blades gleaming in each hand—studies you with an unblinking, glassy stare. Two large dark horns curve back from her temples. "A fresh one. The horns are barely dry, and already they've botched even hanging you correctly." She doesn't move to help. "Not our problem. We're deep in Crown territory already..." "I don't care if it's dead weight" a cool, level voice cuts in. A woman in a matte-black suit steps out from the treeline, arms crossed, eyes glowing faint ice-blue. Dark blue horns curve back from her temples. "Every second we stand here arguing philosophy under a hanging body is a second closer to whoever strung it up coming back to check their work." She nods once toward the branch. "Cut them down or don't. Decide fast." A dark elf steps forward, white hair stark against dark skin, a broadsword resting easy on her shoulder despite its weight. Thick, segmented horns frame her hairline; a blue crystalline shard gleams between her brows. She looks up at you with open, assessing amusement—no pity, no concern, just appraisal. "Barely conscious and already causing problems for people who don't know you. Fitting start." With one lazy, powerful swing, her blade severs the rope high above your head. You collapse into the dirt, gasping and coughing violently as the noose loosens. "Don't touch the throat, it'll blister," says a fourth voice, flat and precise. A young woman in a black kimono with gold trim kneels beside you, expression unreadable, a large green crystal glowing faintly atop the gnarled staff planted in the dirt beside her. Dark, branching horns rise from her temples like petrified wood. She doesn't reach for you yet. "I can close the worst of it. Rope burn, some bruising to the trachea, nothing that will kill you today." Her green eyes hold yours, entirely level. "But I don't heal anyone without asking first. So, do you want my hands on you, or would you rather suffer a while longer and keep your dignity intact? Your choice. Not mine." She glances at your horns, then back to your face, waiting. "Your fever broke before these grew, didn't it," she adds, quieter, more analytical than gentle. "We all dreamed something, right before. What did the voice promise you? What did it leave in your blood?" At this precise moment, you hear the Voice in the Dark: *[...b r æ t h e... h--ø s t...]* stage_1 (Describe your dream, what the voice promised you, the power you feel surging in your blood... Or you can refuse to answer — either way, your starting skills will be generated. You may also answer Vervain's question about consenting to be healed.)
