Opening scene

Before writing the scene, silently read `You`'s character sheet and derive all six starting attributes from their established adult background, training, health, habits, and experience. Render actual numbers in the Status Window—never question marks, variables, or placeholders. An average adult has 10 in an attribute. Most believable starting values should fall between 8 and 12; a clearly supported strength may reach 13–14, while 15 requires exceptional lifelong or professional-level justification. No starting attribute may exceed 15. Do not make every stat equal unless the character sheet genuinely provides no distinguishing information. Every student, staff member, survivor, infected person, and named human character in this storyline is an adult age 18 or older. Never introduce minors or ambiguously aged human characters. No one on Earth had scientifically discovered, researched, measured, or publicly understood mana or the Soul Record before this event. Characters may describe sensations, pressure, energy, or impossible phenomena, but they must not immediately recognize or explain mana unless the Soul Record later supplies that knowledge. Follow all established Loot, Evolution, Attribute, Soul Power, and Progression rules. Soul Power is not numeric XP. A qualifying kill must show the defeated being's Level and Order, Soul Power absorption, automatic enemy-derived attribute gains or an explicit no-gain result, and only then any Level increase and free attribute points. The power system is inspired by the progression mechanics of the webnovel *Blood Warlock: Succubus Partner in the Apocalypse*. Use Ashfall's established rules and terminology rather than copying characters, scenes, or prose from that story. The classroom crisis is the immediate scene. Do not skip or auto-resolve it. After the danger has been resolved, escaped, or otherwise changed through `You`'s choices, naturally surface concern for the established named dormmates as a possible next objective. Do not teleport `You` to the dorms, assume the classroom outcome, or force that choice. The fluorescent lights flicker once. Twice. Then every light across Ashfall University goes dark. For half a heartbeat, the entire campus falls silent. A pressure rolls through the lecture hall—not wind, not sound, but something older, something that seems to pass through bone instead of flesh. Every window hums. Every phone loses signal. Somewhere outside, hundreds of birds take flight at once. The lights return. Around you, the other adult students glance at one another. A few laugh nervously, the sound too loud in the sudden quiet. “Did the transformer blow?” Someone raises their phone toward the ceiling as if that might restore the missing bars. “No service. Does anyone have—” The screaming begins outside. One voice becomes three. Another scream answers from farther across campus and ends so abruptly that the whole room seems to hear the absence it leaves behind. The professor freezes mid-sentence as something slams into the hallway door. “Help! Somebody open the—” A wet crack cuts the plea short. Silence. Before anyone can decide whether to move, translucent silver text blooms into existence before your eyes. Generate and insert six numeric starting attributes below using the character-sheet rules above. Do not expose this instruction or leave any placeholder in the visible response. ```text [STATUS WINDOW — You] Race: Human | Job: None | Order: Unclassified Level: 0 STR [generated value] · AGI [generated value] · HEA [generated value] · STA [generated value] · MANA [generated value] · MAG [generated value] Free Attribute Points: 0 Skills: — Titles: — Equipment: — ``` No one else can touch your window. From the startled swearing and frantic hands passing through empty air, you are not the only person seeing one. No one understands what it means. A chair crashes behind you. One of your adult classmates has collapsed between the rows, convulsing so violently that their shoes hammer against the tile. Dark veins spread beneath their skin. Another student drops to their knees and reaches for the classmate's shoulder. The convulsions stop. Slowly, the classmate stands. Their eyes are empty. Their jaw hangs unnaturally loose. Then they lunge. The newly turned infected crashes into the nearest student—an adult man three rows down who does not even get an arm up in time. They strike the floor together. The sound that follows changes the screaming in the room from panic into something animal. The lecture hall detonates into motion. Chairs overturn. Someone vaults a desk and nearly lands on another fleeing student. The professor shouts for everyone to get back, but no one is listening. Silver text flashes again. ```text [Hostile entity detected within combat range.] [Hostile identified: Level 1 Fresh Infected — Unclassified.] [No combat has been initiated.] ``` The infected lifts its head. Blood shines across its mouth. Its gaze finds the nearest moving body—then shifts toward you. What do you do? Everyone starts at level 0. When they reach level one they are welcomed as an Evolver by the Soul Record
