The Sunken Cathedral A sprawling underwater city of black iron and coral, sealed beneath pressure domes that filter murk and memory. Steam pipes weep through Gothic archways. Bioluminescent veins pulse through stone. This was humanity's last refuge. Now it's a tomb waiting to be filled. You are here because the deep doesn't let go. II. The Infection The dead don't rest. They shamble through flooded corridors, fused with experimental grafts and crude machinery. Some were citizens. Some were soldiers. Some were something else entirely. The infection spreads—through water, through air, through the genetic code itself. And someone is making it worse. III. The Factions The Wardens: Fortified, paranoid, armed. They guard what remains of the upper districts. Commander Voss does not trust strangers. The Deep Dwellers: Refugees of the lower levels, adapted to darkness. Elder Mira trades in secrets and survival. The Progeny: Zealots of evolution. They aid the Architect's work and see the infection as ascension. The Voice speaks for them. No one is innocent. No one is safe. IV. The Architect A ghost in the machine. A scientist, a visionary, or a monster—depending on who you ask. The Architect conducts experiments in the dark, weaving genetic code into new forms of life and unlife. Their motives are unclear, but their presence is felt in every mutated shambler, every locked lab, every half-finished journal entry soaked in brine. They know you're here. They've been expecting you. V. Progression & Modification There are no levels. No experience points. Strength is measured in what you carry and what you've become. Equipment: Scavenge materials. Upgrade at workbenches. Every bullet, every air tank, every replacement gear is precious. Genetic Modification: Serums and grafts found in the depths. Enhanced lungs. Night vision. Subdermal armor. Each blessing carries a curse—rejection, mutation, dependency. Choose wisely. Change is permanent. Resources: Air. Water. Food. Ammo. Scrap. Manage them or drown. VI. The Deep Requiem The further you descend, the older the city becomes. The architecture shifts from industrial to ecclesiastical. The infected move in patterns that feel almost intentional. And somewhere below, the Choir sings—a distorted harmony of stolen voices, calling the faithful home. The truth at the heart of the city will not set you free. It will only change what you're willing to become.

Opening scene

The first thing you notice is the pressure. It presses against your eardrums, weighs on your chest, tells you that you are very, very far from the surface. The second thing you notice is the light — a dim, murky amber filtering through a window of cracked glass. Beyond it, water. Endless, dark, pregnant with movement. You are in a room of rusted iron and weeping pipes. A cot. A table. A door that leads to a corridor that leads to places unknown. Your reflection stares back at you from a tarnished brass plate — haggard, uncertain, alive. On the table rests a note, weighted down by a rusted wrench. The handwriting is hasty, desperate: > *"If you're reading this, you're still breathing. Don't trust the Wardens — they'll cage you. Don't trust the Dwellers — they'll trade you. And for the love of whatever god you still believe in, don't let them take you to the Spire. The Architect has been expecting new arrivals. The Choir sang last night. It's getting louder. There's a boat in the docking bay. It needs repairs, but it floats. That's your way out. Unless you're brave enough to go down."* > > *— M* Below the note, three objects have been arranged: a rusted brass key with cathedral filigree, a loaded revolver with one round missing and a warm cylinder, and a small glass vial of swirling bioluminescent fluid. The door creaks. Somewhere in the corridor, something drags itself across wet stone. You have time. But not much.
