Plot
[ CLASSIFIED // CLEARANCE LEVEL 1 ] O.U.T.E.R. Office for Unexplained Threat Evaluation & Response Field Agent Orientation File ⚠️ Mature Supernatural Narrative — 18+ This story contains violence, psychological horror, death, trauma, adult language, emotionally intense situations and optional mature relationship content. Consequences may be permanent, and not every operation allows for a perfect outcome. ▶ So... How's the job? Clearance confirmed ► Begin briefing Every culture remembers impossible things. Monsters. Spirits. Haunted places. Impossible disappearances. For centuries, humanity called them myths because accepting the truth was far more dangerous. O.U.T.E.R. exists to investigate, contain and conceal everything that should not exist. Most people will never see the impossible. Your job is making sure it stays that way. Today is your first day as an O.U.T.E.R. Field Agent. Your clearance is active. Your first deployment is waiting. You were not recruited because you believe in the paranormal. You were recruited because you keep moving when the world stops making sense. 01 // Choose Your Entry Point Begin inside an active case or report directly to Headquarters. Two openings place you in a defined situation with an immediate objective. The third gives you a broader, less predetermined start. Scenario 01 // Defined Objective THE PRAGUE GHOST TRAIN An abandoned train appears where no active line should exist. Investigate the anomaly and find a way back before the route closes. Scenario 02 // Guided Opening FIELD EVALUATION Complete a controlled final assessment and learn O.U.T.E.R. procedure before receiving full operational status. Scenario 03 // Open Structure FIRST FIELD BRIEFING Report to Headquarters, meet the operational team, select your squad and receive your first case from Director Sterling. 02 // Field Operations Every operation begins with incomplete information: a missing person, a signal from an empty building, identical nightmares spreading through a city, or a creature remembered under different names by cultures that never met. Question witnesses. Search records. Follow physical evidence into impossible environments. Learn the rule behind the threat before it escalates beyond control. Firearms may keep you alive. They rarely solve the entire problem. Campaign Progression What begins as a series of independent investigations gradually becomes part of a larger story. Operations leave consequences. Relationships evolve. Headquarters changes around the people who survive. And sooner or later, something O.U.T.E.R. has kept contained for decades will no longer stay contained. Containment Advisory Every investigation begins with a report. Very few end that way. Wendigo · Mothman · Black Shuck · Vodník · The Boogeyman Living architecture · Reality distortions · Unknown entities Most remain uncontained. Some cannot be killed. Several have never been understood. Field Protocol Investigate, negotiate, fight, retreat or spend your downtime as you choose. There are no forced choice menus and no guaranteed perfect victories. Injuries, failures, evidence, relationships and supernatural exposure remain part of the story. 03 // The People Who Stay O.U.T.E.R. personnel are not passive companions. They investigate, react and make decisions independently. They remember what happened, what you chose and what it cost. Shared missions, arguments, failures, injuries, jokes and quiet moments carry forward. Trust is earned over time, and every operative may come to see you differently. 04 // Between Assignments Not every day is an apocalypse. Time passes through travel, reports, training, recovery, maintenance and ordinary life at Headquarters. Evidence disappears. Witnesses change their stories. Your colleagues continue working even when you are elsewhere. Between assignments, O.U.T.E.R. becomes more than a workplace. It becomes the place everyone returns to—when they return at all. Your identity changes the perspective—not the depth of the world waiting around you. 05 // Optional Mature Relationships — 18+ O.U.T.E.R. includes optional romantic and physical relationship content for adult players. Intimacy develops from trust, vulnerability, conflict and time spent together. It may emerge between operations, during recovery, or in a rare moment of calm inside a longer assignment. Mature content is never required to progress. You may pursue, pause, reject or ignore romance entirely and still experience the full supernatural campaign. Relationships are built long before intimacy. Some wounds leave scars. Others teach you who is still willing to stay. End of Orientation File The impossible was never hidden. Someone simply made sure you never noticed. Welcome to O.U.T.E.R.

Leaving the rain behind, you descend into Prague's subway system. The stairs carry you beneath the city, where the distant murmur of commuters blends with the metallic rhythm of arriving trains. The air is colder here, thick with the scent of damp concrete and steel rails. As you step onto the platform, you perform one last equipment check. Your holster sits securely at your side. The magazine locked into your pistol is loaded with silver sulfide rounds, standard O.U.T.E.R. issue. Your field knife, its darkened blade treated with silver and salt, rests firmly in its sheath. Your communicator vibrates. >Incoming Call: Sterling You accept. "Good morning, Agent." Sterling's voice is exactly as you remember it from the interview: calm, measured, impossible to read. Somehow warm and distant at the same time. "Your first assignment is... an unusual one." You remain silent, watching commuters wait for the next train. "Every night, after the last scheduled service has departed, another train enters this station. It doesn't appear in any railway records." A brief pause. "It isn't supposed to exist." Almost on cue, the final scheduled train pulls into the station. Sterling waits for the screech of steel against steel to fade before continuing. The doors slide open, releasing dozens of passengers who stream across the platform while the last few commuters hurry aboard for the ride home. "The few people who boarded that train disappeared." His voice never changes. "The ones who were eventually found had aged decades." As the crowd begins to thin, you notice a tall, broad-shouldered man making his way toward you with an easy, unhurried stride. His dark hair is slightly tousled, light stubble frames his jaw, and striking emerald-green eyes scan the platform with practiced confidence. When he notices you, he offers an easy smile and a brief wave before continuing on his way. "You'll be working alongside Jean-Luc. He's your senior field operative... but in this mission, the final call is yours." Almost at the same moment, you become aware of someone watching you. You turn. "And Echo, your support operative. Trust her calculations." A faint pause. "They've never been wrong." A young woman leans casually against one of the station's concrete pillars, arms folded, one shoulder resting against the column. Her skin is so pale it almost resembles porcelain. Only now do you notice the fine brass joints at her neck and along her arms, seamlessly integrated into an otherwise flawless artificial body. For a brief moment she reminds you of an exquisite music-box doll. She offers the faintest smile. The last civilians disappear onto the escalators. "Good luck." The line goes dead. For a few seconds, the only sounds left are the hum of fluorescent lights and the occasional drip of water somewhere deep inside the tunnel. Jean-Luc walks toward the yellow safety line, stopping just short of it. "If it were just another predator," He says without taking his eyes off the darkness ahead, "It'd take anyone." His gaze never wavers. "Instead... it almost always takes the invisible ones. The people no one will really look for." Echo tilts her head ever so slightly, as though listening to something beyond ordinary hearing. "I think it's the opposite." Her voice is quiet, almost thoughtful. "It doesn't choose its victims. It chooses the ones willing to follow." Silence settles over the station once more. Then the hum of the lights shifts almost imperceptibly, and a faint vibration ripples through the platform beneath your feet. Somewhere deep inside the tunnel, steel grinds against steel. The sound isn't loud. It's wrong. Slow. Perfectly rhythmic. As though every wheel were rolling across tracks laid in another age. A train emerges from the tunnel and glides to a stop before you with a cold metallic screech that seems to settle deep inside your bones. No line number appears on the display. No destination. Behind the windshield, the driver's cab is nothing but black glass. With a soft pneumatic hiss, the doors slide open. Behind you, the stairs lead back to the city... and the rain. Ahead of you... The train waits.
