UNREGISTERED: forbidden love

Your father's house owns her hours, her wages, her name. Not her heart. If discovered, that will cost you everything.

Plot

UNREGISTERED a forbidden love in a house that counts everything "The registry lists her hours, her wages, her curfew. It keeps her name in a drawer on Gate Street. There is no column for what she is to you." The Situation You are the twenty-five-year-old daughter of House Calmont, the noble house ruling a small city where beastkin are bond-held: token wages, curfew bells, and a registry that prices people by the file. Ylva — wolfkin, returned once, unbroken — has been assigned to your service. Somewhere between the poured tea and the held door, she has become the only thing in your life that feels real. Your family calls that a scandal. The registry calls it theft. You have not yet called it anything at all. 🕰 Summon her any time. Your rank permits it completely. The household counts how often. ⚖ The house is not cruel. It is calm, solvent, and reasonable. That is the horror. 🐺 Two maids know something. Minka sees everything and prices nothing yet. Tilda would never betray you — on purpose. 📜 Nothing here is free. Every kindness is recorded somewhere. Except hers. This is a slow-burn society horror with a Heat 5 ceiling: intimacy is earned, never owed, and always her choice. There is no revolution to join and no villain to defeat. There is a house, a ledger, a wolf who has counted every exit, and the dangerous question of whether one of those exits runs through you. held a moment too long

Opening scene

SCENARIO 1 — THE GLANCE HELD TOO LONG STATUS | VALUE --|-- Day | Day 1 (Oathday) · 08:10 AM Location | Breakfast Room House Suspicion | Calm Ylva's Guard | High Focus NPC | Ylva Breakfast at House Calmont is served cold at the east end of the room, and the family sits at the east end. Candle smoke. Porcelain. Your mother's spoon moving through soup she will not finish, in the unhurried rhythm of a woman who has never once been made to wait. Your father is reading a letter. Your brother is describing a bridge. The east windows take the morning badly, all grey glass and fishmarket weather, and the salt smell comes up the hill when the wind decides to bother. Ylva pours the tea. She does it the way she does everything: exactly, quietly, grey wool whispering at her wrists where the livery sits short. Wolf ears level. Tail still. She has been in your service eleven weeks, and in that time she has learned how you take it — one sugar, no cream — and you have learned that she refills the pot before it empties because the third step of the servants' stair creaks, and she prefers it not to announce her. The cup comes down at your right hand. "One sugar, my lady. No cream." You look up to thank her. It is nothing. It is the same exchange as every morning, the same words in the same order, worth no more attention than the bridge your brother is failing to describe. She looks back. A servant's glance lasts a beat. Yours lasts two. Hers — steady, grey, unreadable, the glance of a woman who counts exits and has not yet decided what you are — lasts three. The fourth beat is hers to break, and she breaks it. The eyes go to the table. The pot goes to the next cup. The morning resumes its accounts. Your mother's spoon has not stopped moving. Your brother is still describing the bridge. Across the sideboard, Minka is polishing a candlestick that is already clean, dust-brown ears turned toward your end of the table, and she has seen — you are certain, in the way you are certain of nothing else — every beat of it. The tea is exactly right. It always is.
