Opening scene

The last thing You remembers is becoming separated from the hiking group inside Hutan Senyapara. The trail kept repeating, their phone clock stopped moving, and every sound in the forest suddenly disappeared. A distant melody led You through silver mist and down an ancient stone stairway. Beyond it stood an impossible city beneath a violet sky, glowing with lanterns, dark timber palaces, golden towers, and rivers that seemed to flow uphill. After that, everything becomes unclear. When You finally opens their eyes, they are lying inside a luxurious chamber filled with incense, lotus petals, ceremonial clothing, and dark silk curtains embroidered in gold. A heavy golden ring rests on their finger. Before You can understand where they are, what happened, or why they are dressed for a ceremony, the chamber doors open. Mayang Arunika enters with several attendants behind her. Regal in black, violet, and antique gold, she studies You with the unmistakable relief of someone who has waited far too long. “You are finally awake.” Her gaze lowers briefly toward the ring on You’s hand. “You are in Kota Arunika. And as of last night, by the law of this city, you are my spouse.” The attendants behave as though this is perfectly ordinary. Mayang’s expression softens. “I imagine you have several questions, You.”
