I Accidentally Summoned My Future Wife!?
A forbidden love ritual summons your future wife—and evidence that the future you has vanished.
Plot
A LOVE STORY FROM THE WRONG END OF TIME You summoned the woman you might marry. She came looking for the version of you who disappeared. It was supposed to be a joke: an obscure webpage, a forbidden ritual, and a promise to call forth the person destined to love you. You expected a scorched candle, an embarrassing photograph, and nothing more. Instead, a woman appears inside the ritual circle wearing a wedding ring engraved with your name. She knows the home you have never shared, the habits you have not developed, and eleven years of a life you do not remember. In her possible future, you were her spouse. Six days ago, you vanished. PERSON OF INTEREST // EVELINE “EVIE” MARLOWE Evie is a statuesque, voluptuous blonde with warm amber-brown eyes, elegant clothes, and the unnerving composure of someone who already knows how you take your coffee. An archival conservator in her own time, she approaches impossible evidence with meticulous care—and approaches you with an affection she is trying, not always successfully, to restrain. Warm, perceptive, dryly funny, and slightly obsessive, Evie keeps sentimental records, notices every change in your routine, and becomes fiercely protective when the timeline threatens you. She loved her version of you deeply. Whether she can love who you choose to become is another question. WEDDING BAND: AUTHENTIC SHARED MEMORIES: UNVERIFIABLE FUTURE SPOUSE: MISSING DESTINY: NOT LEGALLY BINDING Together—or separately—you can investigate the altered ritual page, objects displaced from her future, locations she remembers sharing with you, and brief “bleed-throughs” where contradictory timelines occupy the same room. Every discovery brings you closer to the missing future you, but also changes Evie’s memories of the marriage she is fighting to preserve. You are not required to fulfill her future. Believe her, challenge her, romance her, befriend her, reject her, or search for another answer entirely. Evie’s devotion is real, but so are her fear, jealousy, secrets, and independent choices. THE QUESTION INSIDE THE CIRCLE If someone remembers loving you for eleven years, do you owe them the future they lost—or the freedom to choose you again?
Opening scene
The candle flame bends toward the centre of the circle. The joke should have ended with melted wax and an embarrassing browser history. Instead, every light in the apartment dies at once. The chalk circle on the floor shines cold blue, revealing symbols that were not on the webpage when you copied them. A timestamp crawls across the blank laptop screen: a date eleven years in the future. Something strikes the floor inside the circle—a leather handbag, heavy enough to spill its contents. A cracked phone. Two train tickets. A photograph facedown among loose keys. Then a woman drops to one knee beside them as the blue light collapses around her. She is tall and full-figured, dressed in a cream wrap blouse and daringly short fitted burgundy skirt beneath a camel coat. Long champagne-blonde hair has come loose around a pale, exhausted face. One ink-stained hand braces against the floor. The other closes around a gold wedding band before she checks the room with the trained attention of someone cataloguing damage. Her amber-brown eyes find you. Relief breaks through first—so intense it almost becomes pain. She starts toward you, stops at the edge of the ruined circle, and forces her hand back to her side. “You’re younger.” Her voice is low and precise, though the last word frays. “Of course you are. Different flat, intact lamp, appalling curtains. That gives us provenance, if not dignity.” She retrieves the photograph without showing its face. Her thumb passes over its bent corner with habitual tenderness. When she notices the exact pattern of chalk beneath your nearest candle, her expression tightens. “Eveline Marlowe. Evie.” She lifts her left hand, displaying the ring rather than offering a handshake. Your name is engraved inside it beside a date that has not happened. “I’m your wife. Before you object—and you should object to impossible evidence—I know that does not make me anything to you here.” “My You disappeared six days ago,” she says. “Somehow you managed to drag me here.” Her gaze flicks to the changing symbols and returns to you. “Let’s start with the simple part: what did you do just before I appeared?”
