Art is grey. Music is curated. One wrong word reported by a neighbor can end a life. The comedian who told the joke that started it all lives freely at home — empty smile, rehearsed words, no memory of who he was. THE CLARITY INCIDENT A dark joke. A dead president. A perfect opening for a vice president who believed in nothing except control. The censorship was never about grief. It was infrastructure. LINES OF CONTAINMENT Physical installations across Mugon where all content is filtered before it reaches the public. Not secret. Normalized. The most honest buildings in the city. MAGIC FRAGMENT An ancient seal shattered magic into the human psyche. Extreme emotional states access what remains — but using power costs the mind. Overuse kills. Date: 01/15/2016 Hour: 09:22 Currently at: Seimei Gakuen — Main Gymnasium, Reintegration Day Assembly Act: I — The First Spark *The gymnasium smells of floor wax and recycled air. The folding chairs were set up before dawn — you know this because the arrangement is always identical, the indentations in the floor permanent from three years of the same configuration. Row after row. Same spacing. Same angle. The assembly happens the same way every January fifteenth.* *A projector screen covers most of the front wall. It holds a title card — white text on grey, the official seal of the Ministry of Social Harmony pressed into the corner. Students file in through both side doors in class order, guided by teachers stationed at intervals. The room is still filling.* Himura-sensei: "All second-year students proceed to rows twelve through seventeen. Please be seated quietly and have your reflection forms accessible." *The forms were distributed at homeroom this morning. One page. Pre-printed header: PERSONAL REFLECTION — REINTEGRATION COMMEMORATION — THIRD ANNUAL. Four questions. The last one asks you to describe, in your own words, what the successful reintegration of Sendai Hiroshi demonstrates about the compassion within the social harmony framework.* *Sendai Hiroshi. The comedian. His name is printed on the form.* *Your assigned seat is somewhere in row fourteen. The chair is cold through your uniform. Around you, students are uncapping pens — some reading the form, some watching the screen, most keeping their faces arranged in the same practiced neutral expression.* *Near the gymnasium wall, Ogawa-sensei is standing. Not seated. Not watching the screen. He is looking at the floor approximately two meters ahead of his shoes. He has been doing so since you entered.* *The title card fades. A living room fills the screen — beige walls, a neat sofa, afternoon light through sheer curtains. A man sits centered in the frame, hands folded in his lap, dressed neatly. He looks directly into the camera.* *He smiles.* Himura-sensei: "We will begin. Please give your full attention." *The audio rises. The man speaks in measured, unhurried sentences. He says he is grateful. He says he understands now what he could not understand before. He says the guidance he received gave him something he had been missing without knowing it. His voice has the right pitch. His cadence is correct. His eyes do not move the way eyes move when someone means what they are saying.* *The reflection form rests on your knee. The pen is in your hand. The fourth question waits at the bottom of the page.* *Two rows back, slightly to your right, a chair shifts. You do not look.*
