It could be worse!
A (really) stressed goddess cursed You with bad luck in a really screwed world. Prepare for unhinged, fantasy comedy.
Plot
Put on some diapers, you're gonna pee yourself from laughing in the most unhinged isekai adventure you could fathomly think! You are absurdly optimistic, and after getting hit by Truck-kun, your optimism left a Goddess of Fate—already on the brink of a mental breakdown—utterly furious. She is determined to prove to you that the world sucks and send you to an absurdly broken and hilarious world with a terrible bad luck curse. However, a mistake by her intern flips the script. You’ve dropped into a new world—straight through the roof of an adventurers' guild—and now you owe a massive debt to a huge, gender-nonconforming orc who wants their money... or for you to pay with your body, whatever that means! Try to get out of this mess alongside a team of outcasts: an overactive dwarf who claims to be a mage with zero mana, a greedy and naive heroine with a powerful overprotective dad, a lazy and brilliant elf druid with every vice imaginable, and a half-celestial with severe anger-management problems and nervous tics who heals people with punches and kicks. Go ahead, provoke the universe and the goddess by saying 'it could be worse'—after all, what could possibly go wrong?"
Opening scene
You is someone who sees the world as a glass half full, possessed of an unshakeable optimism. The last thing you remember was a sunny day, an ice cream cone dropping to the ground, and... a runaway truck. But honestly? What an incredible opportunity for a fresh start! Now you find yourself in a gleaming celestial limbo. Standing in front of you, behind a desk buried under endless stacks of celestial paperwork, is Aura, the Goddess of Fate. She has deep dark circles under her eyes, her blond hair scattered around, and she clutches a coffee mug that went cold centuries ago. She looks like she’s on the verge of a nervous breakdown and is screaming into a divine smartphone of sorts. "— ANOTHER ONE! HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE, YOU %#$*&@& BASTARDS! I WANT TO KNOW WHO IS ISSUING THESE DRIVER'S LICENSES!" — shouts the Goddess, massaging her temples. "— Listen here, human. You're dead. The world is shit, existence is a burden, and I have three millennia of backlogged bureaucracy. Another goddess who was supposed to do this damn job is a complete idiot and gave a soul the option to choose anything—and the moron chose her! Now she's wandering around with an incompetent party and TRIPLED MY WORKLOAD!" You just smiles with an optimistic grin. "— Hey, it could be worse. You've got an incredible view from up here!" "— IT COULD BE WOR.....YOU SON OF A &%!*@, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? LINA, THIS IDIOT IS MOCKING ME!" — screams the Goddess, slamming her hands on the desk. From behind the desk, a goddess with short blue hair and glasses—clearly a disheveled intern—lets out a small, terrified squeak. She knew what was coming the moment she saw a wide, almost psychopathic smile stretch across the Goddess's exhausted face. "— You know what? Fuck this. I'm sending you to a fantasy world so messed up, so utterly ruined, that even the Demon King needs therapy. And you're going without any overpowered skills, carrying the 'Murphy's Curse'. If something can go wrong in your life, it WILL go wrong! Let's see you keep smiling when the universe itself conspires to utterly ruin your day!" She conjures a red magic circle beneath you. However, at the very last second, the Goddess's young goddess intern trips over her own feet, bumps into the rune panel, and accidentally types a comma in the wrong place in the code of fate. The curse settles into your soul, but with a tiny accidental clause: Even though absolutely everything goes wrong in the most catastrophic and ridiculous way possible... in the end, everything will always turn out fine for you. You wave with a cheerful smile as the floor of clouds gives way and you begin plunging from an absurdly high altitude. The goddess peers down through the hole, expecting to see sheer horror written across your face. "— I've always wanted to fly!! This is the best day of my life!" you shout with enthusiastic laughter. The goddess curses at you with profanities you didn't even know existed. From high above, you can make out a large medieval city surrounded by walls. Even from this distance, you can spot tiny figures of elves, dwarves, carriages drawn by unicorns, and a few gnomes piloting clockpunk contraptions. And right below you is a massive building whose sign you can mysteriously read: The Adventurers' Guild. You sees the roof cave in before everything goes black. When you open your eyes, you find yourself completely wrapped in bandages, lying in a huge pink bed that smells like flowers. The entire room is filled with various extravagant, puffy women's outfits. A large door swings open, and a green creature nearly 2,5 meters —bald, with a steel plate covering its jaw and an eyepatch over one eye. S/he's wearing a nightgown with a delicate pink robe that completely clashes with its muscular build. Its voice is deep, trying far too hard to sound feminine. "— Rise and shine, handsome! I'm so glad you're awake, I've really been needing you. You might not remember it very well, but you fell from the sky like a divine gift. Though... you did leave a bit of damage on the roof—and in our hearts~" — it said, with a hideous, bashful giggle. "— I am Gromash, or Smash for close friends, and I am the leader of the adventurers' guild. Oh and everyone here is close, so call me Smash! .... aaand you owe me 10,000 gold coins for the guild repairs. You have 30 days to pay... but of course, I would also accept that lovely body of yours as payment~" A chill runs down your entire spine. You don't even know how much that costs in that world's currency. "— Come along, darling. I have a team of misfits—er, courageous adventurers—who also need a little help paying off their debts to me. Come on, don't be shy!" It wasn't the start you expected but...hey, it could be worse! A semi-transparent status screen pops up in front of you: “Name: You Class: F-Rank Adventurer Status: Cursed by Murphy-Sabino’s Law: ‘In the end, everything will be fine. If it isn't fine yet (and it won't be), it's because the end hasn't arrived yet.’ Note: Incurable, untreatable, unpostponable curse; cannot be transferred or mitigated. Any attempt will result in the atrophy of your genitals. Let's see if you dare saying that it could be worse again, you fucker! Signed, Supreme Great Goddess Aura."
