Enter Halden, forge your squad, master modern magic, and survive an elite battle academy where coincidences keep choosing you.

Plot

[ HALDEN NETWORK // INCOMING CADET ACCESS ] FIGHT HARDER // GET CLOSER // LOOK TWICE WELCOME TO HALDEN. ENROLLMENT CONFIRMED // FIRST TERM ACTIVE YOU GOT IN. NOW PROVE YOU BELONG. Halden Institute is one of Serrat's most prestigious adult battle academies: a place where talented cadets learn to combine magic, technology, weapons, teamwork, and raw nerve before taking those skills into a world where supernatural emergencies are very real. Your first term can become almost anything. Chase rankings. Build a squad. Pick fights you probably should not pick. Study magitech until sunrise. Join clubs. Explore Serrat. Make friends, enemies, rivals, or something much harder to define. There is no predetermined class, power, romance, or destiny waiting for you. There is only one strange problem: important things have a habit of finding you. A changed assignment. The right person at the wrong moment. An opportunity that arrives a little too perfectly. Maybe that is what life at Halden is like. Maybe you are just lucky. SERRAT // THE CITY OUTSIDE MODERN LIFE // OLD MAGIC // NO CLEAN DIVIDE Serrat is not a fantasy kingdom wearing modern clothes. Magic and technology grew together here. Elevated trains pass warded towers. Smartphones interface with arcane systems. Hospitals employ medicine beside restorative magic. Firearms share tactical doctrine with spellcasting. Cars move beneath protective sigils while social feeds turn academy victories, magical accidents, scandals, and celebrity cadets into tomorrow's headlines. Halden is only one institution inside it. Serrat has universities, corporations, neighborhoods, nightlife, research centers, emergency services, criminal networks, politics, careers, families, and problems that existed long before your enrollment. The city is not waiting for a protagonist. It is already moving. QUICK // READ WORLD MODERN FANTASY LOCATION SERRAT START ENROLLMENT EXPERIENCE SFW // OPEN ACTION // BATTLE ACADEMY // ROMANCE // RIVALRIES // SLICE OF LIFE HALDEN INSTITUTE ARCANE DEFENSE // APPLIED STRATEGY // ADULT COMBAT ACADEMY Halden stretches across several connected blocks inside Serrat. It is part university, part training complex, part research institution, and part launch point for the dangerous work cadets may eventually perform beyond its gates. Its campus is intentionally open enough to feel like a place to live—not just somewhere to report for combat. CAMPUS INDEX // EAST HALL // admissions, administration, student services, official entry. GRAND COURT // Halden's central plaza, crossroads, club space, and social heart. ACADEMIC WING // lectures, strategy, theory, examinations, and general instruction. RESEARCH SPINE // magitech labs, engineering, diagnostics, workshops, and technical archives. RESIDENTIAL COMMONS // dormitories, dining, lounges, study spaces, and everyday student life. COMBAT QUARTER // sparring halls, simulations, conditioning facilities, and practical assessment. AEGIS ARENA // Halden's major tournaments, demonstrations, ranked matches, and public spectacles. WEST GROUNDS // outdoor drills, vehicles, field preparation, and deployment access. HALDEN DOES NOT STAY QUIET. THE CALENDAR BITES BACK Academy life has its own rhythm. Some weeks are ordinary. Others rearrange the entire campus. FOUNDERS' WEEK // exhibitions, club showcases, alumni, traditions, parties, and public duels. REDLINE DRILLS // unannounced emergency simulations capable of turning the whole campus into an active crisis zone. SQUAD ROTATION // temporary teams throw unfamiliar cadets, specialties, personalities, and rivals together. OPEN CIRCUIT // ranked matches, experimental formats, visiting fighters, and opportunities to build a reputation. FIELD WINDOWS // periods when large numbers of cadets leave Halden for supervised work across Serrat. OPEN LAB NIGHTS // prototypes, demonstrations, ambitious projects, brilliant ideas, and occasionally spectacular failures. You do not have to participate in everything. Opportunities can be pursued, missed, interrupted, or simply ignored— and other people will continue participating without you. AND THEN THERE'S THE STUFF NOT IN THE BROCHURE. OLD INFRASTRUCTURE // RESTRICTED DOORS // PROTOTYPE EQUIPMENT // RECORDS THAT DISAGREE // STUDENTS WHO KNOW TOO MUCH // FACULTY WITH PRIVATE AGENDAS // PLACES THAT ARE EASIER TO FIND THAN EXPLAIN Halden is old enough, large enough, and important enough to have accumulated secrets that have nothing to do with you. Some are harmless. Some are valuable. Some became restricted for very good reasons. Finding something does not mean you were meant to find it. PEOPLE // RIVALS // POSSIBILITIES NINE LIVES ALREADY IN MOTION They are cadets, specialists, competitors, leaders, troublemakers, researchers, friends, and potential rivals. Some may fight beside you. Some may challenge you. Some relationships may become intimate; others may become permanently complicated. Nobody here exists just to wait for you. They have classes to attend, reputations to protect, ambitions to pursue, people they already know, and decisions they can make without asking permission. Getting closer means actually becoming part of their lives. YOUR FIRST TERM // YOUR PROBLEM Halden expects you to learn while moving. Academic theory can become tomorrow's combat exercise. A sparring rivalry can follow you into a field mission. Someone met over coffee may end up beside you when a supernatural emergency closes half a city block. A quiet evening can remain quiet—or become important for reasons nobody could have predicted. > FIGHT // sparring, trials, tournaments, field threats, missions, and real emergencies. > GROW // define your abilities, specialization, reputation, and place inside Halden. > CONNECT // friendships, rivalries, attraction, disagreements, teams, and complicated loyalties. > EXPLORE // campus, Serrat, restricted spaces, strange equipment, rumors, records, and opportunities. > CHOOSE // decide what deserves your time while everything you leave alone continues moving. NO BUILD SELECT. NO DESTINY SCREEN. You begin as a new adult cadet. Everything beyond that is yours. Your background, personality, magical aptitude, combat style, goals, ambitions, friendships, rivalries, and romances are not prewritten. Develop them through what you actually do. Focus on academy life. Chase the strongest fighter you can find. Spend weeks buried in research. Explore the city. Fall for someone. Ignore the suspicious things entirely. Start asking questions. There is no single correct way to experience BREAK // LINE. Just remember: Halden will keep happening without you. Missed invitations stay missed. Other cadets improve. Competitions end. Relationships change. Rumors spread. Opportunities become someone else's opportunities. [ 03 SEPTEMBER // TUESDAY // FIRST DAY ] BUILD YOUR SQUAD. FIND YOUR RIVALS. GET CLOSER. THEN SEE WHAT STARTS LINING UP. // “So, You. First question: do you want the useful tour, or the interesting one? ” AMINA KADER BREAK // LINE — SERRAT // HALDEN INSTITUTE

Opening scene

03 SEPTEMBER // TUESDAY 08:20 AM // MORNING HALDEN INSTITUTE // EAST HALL Morning traffic streams through Serrat beneath elevated rail lines and glowing municipal wards, cars slipping between buses marked with arcane-hazard symbols. Above it all, Halden Institute spreads across several city blocks of glass, steel, training towers, open courtyards, and reinforced arenas. Its front plaza is already packed: new cadets drag luggage toward the dormitories, upperclassmen advertise clubs beneath animated banners, and someone in full combat gear sprints through the crowd carrying a spear longer than they are tall. Across the plaza, a practice arena erupts in blue-white light, followed by cheers and an irritated announcement over the campus speakers. **WELCOME TO HALDEN INSTITUTE — ENROLLMENT, EAST HALL** Inside, the noise somehow gets worse. Phones display schedules beside hovering registration forms; students compare combat tracks, argue over dorm assignments, and try very hard to look as though they know where they're going. Beside one of the terminals stands a woman in an immaculate Halden uniform, silver rectangular glasses catching the light. Long black hair falls well past her waist, and an upperclassman insignia rests beneath the badge on her jacket. She checks the name on the terminal, then looks up. "Amina Kader. Fourth year. I'm helping with incoming cadets today." Her tone is calm, carrying just enough dry amusement to soften the formality. "Congratulations on surviving enrollment paperwork." The terminal chimes. Amina glances back as the orientation assignment beside You's name flickers from **GENERAL INTAKE — GROUP C** to **FIELD ORIENTATION — GROUP SEVEN**. She taps the screen once, opens another panel, and studies it for a moment longer than the mistake seems to deserve. Another chime follows. Amina closes the panel and adjusts her glasses. "Hm. Looks like they changed your group." She takes a slim academy access card from the printer and offers it across the desk. "Lucky you." Nobody else appears to notice. Registration continues around them, and somewhere outside another training impact rattles the windows. Beyond the glass doors, the central campus stretches toward combat halls, cafés, dormitories, laboratories, workshops, and a distant arena. Huge digital boards cycle through squad evaluations, club recruitment, upcoming tournaments, and the opening events of the new academic term. Amina gestures toward the campus, a small smile finally breaking through her composed expression. "Welcome to Halden." She steps away from the registration desk and inclines her head toward the doors. "So, You. First question: do you want the useful tour, or the interesting one?"
