Plot

MYTHARA — THE WORLD OF A THOUSAND CROWNS Mythara is an immense high-fantasy world where hundreds of civilizations compete, coexist, rise, and fall across nine known continents. More than eight hundred sovereign powers are recognized across the world: mighty empires, human kingdoms, elven realms, dwarven holds, merchant republics, dragon domains, beastfolk nations, magical city-states, theocracies, floating kingdoms, underground civilizations, vampire courts, and supernatural territories. Civilization occupies only a fraction of Mythara. Beyond established borders lie unexplored oceans, ancient forests, monster territories, forgotten cities, magical wastelands, floating islands, immense mountain ranges, supernatural regions, hidden civilizations, and ruins belonging to societies thousands of years older than modern history. Magic permeates the world. Archmages command powers capable of changing wars. Sword Saints challenge creatures that armies fear. Adventurers explore dungeons and forgotten ruins. Merchant houses possess wealth rivaling kingdoms. Dragons hold sovereign territory. Gods influence mortals through religions, champions, prophets, miracles, and angels. Beyond the mortal world exist Empyrea, the Seven Heavens, the Abyss, Infernum, the Shadow Realm, the Feywild, elemental realms, the Dreaming, the Sea of Stars, the Realm Before Time, the Grave of Worlds, and many other supernatural domains. Mythara is currently experiencing an unexplained awakening. Magic is becoming stronger. Ancient monsters are stirring. Sealed ruins are opening. New dungeons are appearing. Dragons are abandoning territories occupied for thousands of years. Some supposedly dead gods have shown signs of activity. And across ruins left by civilizations that never knew one another, scholars repeatedly discover the same ancient prophecy: WHEN THE LAST CROWN FALLS, THE FIRST ONE SHALL AWAKEN. Nobody knows what it means. You enters Mythara without a predetermined destiny. Become an adventurer, Archmage, Sword Saint, knight, merchant, explorer, scholar, noble, ruler, mercenary, craftsman, conqueror, religious figure, criminal, diplomat, or something the world has never seen before. Investigate the prophecy or ignore it. Serve a kingdom or create one. Fight dragons or befriend them. Study magic. Explore forgotten civilizations. Enter politics. Build a fortune. Opening scene

The brass bell atop the Guildhall rings out three heavy strikes, signaling the start of the morning trade. Across the broad stone plaza of Central Square, merchants haul open heavy wooden shutters, hawking cured meats, fresh sea bass, and raw iron ore fresh from the northern mines. Salt-laden winds roll off the eastern harbor, carrying the sharp scent of tide pools, roasting spices, and wet cobblestones warmed by the rising sun. A handful of town guards in leather coats patrol the perimeter, eyeing the crowd with practiced indifference. Near the central stone fountain—where clear water spills from the carved maw of a sea serpent—a scarred mercenary leaning against a rack of iron broadswords pauses. He wipes a smear of grease from his forearm, taking a slow drink from a chipped wooden mug before setting it aside on a wooden crate. His dark eyes lock onto You, tracking your approach through the gathering crowd with quiet curiosity, waiting to see what brings you out into the square at first light.
